Amazing stay! A quaint and quiet hotel that’s right next to the beach. What more could you need! However, there’s 1 smallllll problem. Every SINGLE morning you WILL be woken up by “the motorcycle man”. This guy either works at the hotel or lives across the street and will start his explosively loud engine exactly at the strike of 5:30 AM each morning and then proceed to let the engine idle for 20 minutes before leaving. However, I will say that because we were awoken by the rumbling of steel and explosive gasoline powered pistons we did get the see the sunrise over the ocean from our window. Other than that, the room was clean, the staff are really nice, and the walk to the beach is so quick! Oh also if you’re on the second floor prepare for it to be hotter than hell on earth (but that’s part of the experience)
For local users and visitors seeking an authentic and highly cherished accommodation within the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform category, The Mayfair Hotel in Belmar, New Jersey, stands as a true local institution. Affectionately known as "The Mayfair" by those who frequent the Jersey Shore, this hotel, located at 1000 Ocean Ave N, Belmar, NJ 07719, USA, offers a distinctive experience rooted in nearly a century of hospitality. Guests can contact the hotel at (732) 681-2620 or mobile phone +1 732-681-2620. Based on the rich details provided by real customer reviews, this introduction will thoroughly explore the hotel's environment, services, features, and promotional aspects.
The Mayfair Hotel's environment is defined by its prime oceanfront location. Situated directly across the street from the ocean, guests benefit from incredibly "unbelievable" and "competitive" ocean views, with the ability to "see the ocean from the room." This proximity to the beach means "the walk to the beach is so quick!", offering unparalleled convenience for beachgoers. The hotel embodies a "quaint and quiet" atmosphere, contributing to a relaxing and charming stay, setting it apart from larger, more impersonal resorts.
Beyond the stunning natural beauty, the neighborhood surrounding The Mayfair Hotel is described as "very good looking and is extremely safe." A significant factor contributing to this sense of security is the Belmar Police Station being "literally across the street." This provides an immense sense of peace of mind for guests, especially families, allowing them to truly relax and enjoy their vacation without concerns. The area also benefits from its proximity to "several very successful restaurants and bars," ensuring guests have ample dining and entertainment options within easy reach. The hotel's historic nature, having opened in 1929, adds a layer of character and a sense of timeless appeal, resonating with those who appreciate establishments with a rich past.
A unique aspect of the environment, albeit a minor inconvenience mentioned by a guest, is the "motorcycle man" who starts his "explosively loud engine exactly at the strike of 5:30 AM each morning." While this noise is acknowledged as a disruption, it humorously offers a silver lining: "because we were awoken by the rumbling of steel and explosive gasoline powered pistons we did get the see the sunrise over the ocean from our window." This anecdotal detail adds to the hotel's unique character and the overall authentic Belmar experience.
The service at The Mayfair Hotel is consistently praised for its quality and the enduring dedication of its staff. Guests affirm that "the staff are really nice" and "always good, always professional and doesn’t even turn over. They stay for years." This remarkable staff retention speaks volumes about the management and ownership ("Simply put, ownership/management are good people"), ensuring a high level of consistent service, personalized attention, and a deep understanding of guest needs. Such long-term staff members often become familiar faces, fostering a welcoming and home-like atmosphere for returning guests.
While specific detailed service offerings like a formal restaurant or extensive room service are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, the emphasis is clearly on attentive front desk service and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment. "The room was clean" is a recurring positive remark. The hotel's ability to consistently provide a "very comfortable" room that "do the job very well" indicates a reliable and functional approach to guest services. The overall impression is that guests can expect friendly, professional, and consistent assistance throughout their stay, which is a major draw for a hotel that has remained a "favorite among the locals" for nearly a century.
The Mayfair Hotel, as a historic establishment, offers features that blend classic comfort with its prime coastal setting. A standout feature, beyond the direct ocean views, is the "outdoor pool." This provides an excellent alternative for guests who prefer a poolside experience over the beach, or simply want to cool off. The rooms, while not described as expansive ("The room was very clean and comfy and cute. It was also very small tho. I personally wouldn't go back strictly for that reason."), are consistently noted for being "very comfortable" and "clean." This suggests a focus on maximizing comfort and functionality within the available space.
While specific in-room amenities like mini-fridges, microwaves, or coffee makers are not detailed in the provided reviews, the emphasis on a "quaint and quiet hotel" suggests essential comforts are provided to ensure a pleasant stay. The observation that the "second floor prepare for it to be hotter than hell on earth" might suggest varying climate control effectiveness or the charm of an older building, which some guests might consider "part of the experience." However, the overall positive sentiment despite this minor point indicates that the hotel's many strengths outweigh such considerations. The general appeal lies in its authentic character, its proximity to the beach, and the simple pleasures of a seaside getaway.
Within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, The Mayfair Hotel's promotional appeal is robust, centering on its "very reasonably priced hotel especially by Jersey Shore standards" and its enduring legacy. The fact that "It’s no accident that 'The Mayfair' has been open nearly a century and people routinely come back and love it" speaks volumes about its sustained value and appeal. This long-standing presence and loyal local following are powerful endorsements that attract new guests seeking an authentic and reliable experience.
The hotel's immediate proximity to the beach ("right next to the beach," "across the street from the ocean") and the availability of "unbelievable" ocean views are primary promotional highlights. The emphasis on being a "safe choice" due to the police station across the street and a "very safe" neighborhood is a significant selling point, particularly for families. Its status as a "favorite among the locals" and a place where "You know a place is good when it’s been in business for nearly a century" provides a strong testament to its consistent quality and charm. For those seeking an affordable, safe, and genuinely local Jersey Shore experience with stunning ocean access, The Mayfair Hotel offers an undeniable value. May 17, 2025 · Sean AhernI have stayed at “The Mayfair” as the locals call it many times for years now. It’s an outstanding hotel and a very reasonably priced hotel especially by Jersey Shore standards. You know a place is good when it’s been in business for nearly a century. It opened in 1929 and it’s a favorite among the locals. Honestly, you can’t go wrong staying there. I have traveled some and the ocean view is competitive. I know the South Pacific is famous but the ocean views from this hotel are unbelievable. Generally speaking, you can see the ocean from the room. The neighborhood is very good looking and is extremely safe. The Belmar Police Station is literally across the street. The rooms are very comfortable and do the job very well. The staff is always good, always professional and doesn’t even turn over. They stay for years. Simply put, ownership/management are good people. The hotel is located near several very successful restaurants and bars. I should mention that it’s across the street from the ocean and even has an outdoor pool if that’s what you prefer. It’s no accident that “The Mayfair” has been open nearly a century and people routinely come back and love it. In conclusion, it’s a safe choice and you won’t be disappointed.
Mar 16, 2025 · Michael BartolomeiYou get what you pay for. I got a budget friendly room to save some cash, and it did the job. Bed, mini fridge, toilet, sink, and a bathtub (in the corner of the room- weird) and an AC unit. It was outdated but for the price we paid, it was good. Rooms were clean, so to me that is the biggest factor. Front desk staff was nice.
Nov 04, 2024 · Gia ChicheloGoing at the beginning of November while it's still in the 50's is a Great time to get together so why not Across the Street from the boardwalk, beach and beautiful sunrises! All that at centrally located Mayfare. Squeeky floors aside, I had a lost pen returned and left outside my room door in the morning of my stay. Ghosts...or just observant staff or kindly guests? Very informative and nice staff (and friendly Ghosts) Super clean, freshly painted, stunning "Atrium"style rooms with magnificent Giant "house plants" where I had free morning coffee and could use a microwave or chat if there were meetings. The View of the Sunrise was Spectacular a Must see! Downside, you are in the oldest, worn-out, building on the Boardwalk. It creaks and you can hear through the walls if someone is loud. I noticed No air conditioner but huge windows that open and a huge ceiling fan. I brought a full bedbug detection kit. The bed is a simple metal frame, mattress covered in complete zipped mattress protection so Dusty bedframe but otherwise bug free. Not for anyone expecting a fancy thick double mattress and box springs. I was too tired from my adventures to care an caught a Magnificent Sunrise!
Nov 11, 2024 · Janet RogersStayed here for a quick getaway with my husband. Perfect location and view of the ocean, friendly staff and room was clean and cozy. No elevator so if you have mobility issues, keep that in mind. But we absolutely loved our stay!
