We had such an incredible time at the Menger when we came for a visit back in March - perfect spring break getaway from the hustle and bustle of metropolitan Houston. Rob, our valet, was particularly kind and helpful in getting our car to and back from the lot and loading our items carefully. He even made sure our six-year-old daughter got into the car safely. For a historic hotel, it is incredibly well kept up with the times and the free drink tickets and gift bag were most welcome! We felt like VIPs. We will be back!

We enjoyed our two night stay at the hotel. Unfortunately with the construction the access to the valet is challenging and the setting is effected by the construction. Once that is completed I am sure it would be a 5-star review. Our room was nice and the staff were very friendly. I liked that there was coffee in the lobby in the morning. Easy access to the river once you got your bearings - it was confusing when we first arrived. We loved the historical nature of the hotel.

My absolute favorite place to stay in San Antonio! I love the architecture and history of this hotel. It's quickly becoming a favorite of my kids as well. Great location that allows you to easily walk to a number of attractions. Be sure to check out the Menger Bar and look for the bullet holes by the bar. 馃槈

It matters a lot what type of hotel experience you desire. The Menger is historic (which means old). It creaks, it squeaks, and the decor is reminiscent of the shining. I thought it a fun experience and loved the charm. The location is perfect as it is directly beside the Alamo and the mall. It is only a 10 minute walk from the convention center and is near the river walk. I did not see any ghosts, but the AC unit was a little noisy at night with plenty of pops and clicks to keep the nervous adventurer awake. Over all, I was satisfied with the room. The meal prices seemed a little high, and there was no free breakfast. You decide if the charm and ghost hunting is enough for you.

I absolutely loved the hotel. It has an old world charm and grandeur that is a nice change from the more modern hotels. Service was great from the moment we stopped (valet) to check-in and then check-out and valet. Location is wonderful, with The Alamo right next to it, and the Riverwalk a mere 8 minute walk away. The garden is also beautiful and peaceful.
