Our experience started off on the wrong foot so I’m still a little bit salty. We called ahead to notify the hotel that we would be coming in late. When we showed up nobody was in the lobby and we weren’t able to enter. I called several times—all went unanswered. I ended up breaking into the hotel through a side door that bounced open if pressed hard enough. That was a little worrisome. Parking is insanely expensive in the lot next door ($40) and valet is also expensive ($45). They’re doing construction on the Alamo and it’s very loud. Breakfast ends very early at 9:30. Just a heads up, a lot of homeless people hang around this area. Shout out to Sarah at the front desk for being super helpful. The rooms are tiny but nicely decorated. Some of the original fixtures like water fountains, elevators, and mail shoots are still maintained, adding to the overall historic charm of the hotel.

Jun 18, 2025 · DeeWow, what an amazing experience. All hotel staff including Front Desk, Valet, & the cleaners were wonderful. Amazing hospitality, every asked question got answered in a great way. Me & my wife came for our 2nd wedding anniversary from Dallas, last year the hotel we stayed at was no where up to par with Hotel Gibbs. If you are looking to travel to San Antonio & want a great hotel filled with awesome faces & a perfect location right by the Alamo, then this is the hotel for you!
Jun 16, 2025 · MattThe staff of this beautiful historic hotel in downtown San Antonio are world-class! They were personal, professional and went the extra mile to accommodate our requests and even addressed me by name. Not only was the antique marble and carved ceilings unforgettable, the way the staff made us feel cared about is something I will never forget! Highly recommend!
Jun 11, 2025 · Kimberley ArmstrongLocation was great, within walking distance of The Alamo and The River Walk, but unfortunately construction blocked some roads. Our room was smaller than expected but staff, including valet, were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast buffet had a good selection and better than most hotels we've visited. We would consider staying again but definitely in a bigger room. On a side note: we noticed the homeless population is high in that area and at times felt uncomfortable but not unsafe, so if that will bother you I suggest a different vacation location. 🤷🏼♀️
May 20, 2025 · Laura MefferdMe and my husband stayed here for 5 nights and we have had nothing but a wonderful experience! Rooms are beautiful and clean and cozy with great views! The water in the showers was nice and warm and the room service always had fresh new towels waiting for us when we would come back to our room! The staff are super friendly and the valet parking helpers were fast and helpful! We especially loved that this hotel is only about a 5ish minute walk from the river walk and right across from the Alamo and so many other cool siting to see! The breakfast was delicious and was like no other hotel I’ve ever been to! You could smell the delicious food from your room! Thank you Gibs Hotel for the wonderful experience that was provided! -Mark & Daiza Aragon (:
