I recently stayed at the Moulton hotel. It was not acceptable. The building is old and smells like it. There is no elevator so good luck with a stroller The only staff member, didn't speak English so when I parked where she instructed me on "B street, I got a $100.00 parking ticket that I had to take care of before coming home. I Also couldn't get her to understand that the sink in the bathroom was leaking, the shower head had mold on it, that i had to clean before using, and the room was much smaller than advertised, so not enough room for my 2 year Olds pack n play. The bed was up against a widow the curtain covering it was stained right where the pillows were. There was a hole in the bathroom wall and paint peeling near the door to the balcony. The water didn't get hot. It barely got warn enough to say it wasn't cold, so showers were terrible. It's nice that it was on the beach and the staff tried to be helpful. But I will never stay at the Moulton again and will make sure to tell anyone going to Hampton beach to avoid this place. It was so disappointing for the money I paid I could have stayed at a much nicer place and actually enjoyed my weekend. 10 out 10 do not recommend.
For local users and travelers searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the popular Hampton Beach, New Hampshire area, The Moulton Hotel presents itself as a distinctive option, primarily due to its enviable beachfront location. Situated at 245 Ocean Blvd, Hampton, NH 03842, USA, and reachable by phone at (603) 926-2951 or +1 603-926-2951, this hotel offers direct access to the sand and the vibrant atmosphere of Hampton Beach. However, potential guests should be aware that their experience at The Moulton Hotel can vary significantly based on their expectations, as it is an older property with a unique charm that comes with certain considerations.
Environment and Location:
The paramount feature of The Moulton Hotel is its "on the beach" location, directly on Ocean Boulevard, the main artery of Hampton Beach. This means guests are just "a stone's throw from the sand," offering immediate access to the beach for swimming, sunbathing, and leisurely strolls. The proximity to the ocean allows many rooms to offer "stunning sea views" or "ocean-view balconies," which is a significant draw for beach vacationers. Beyond the beach, the hotel's central location places it within easy walking distance of Hampton Beach's main attractions, including the Casino Ballroom, Casino Cascade Water Slide, Ocean Gaming Casino, and various shops, restaurants, and bars along the boardwalk. This vibrant, bustling environment is characteristic of a popular summer beach destination. While the immediate surroundings are lively, guests should manage expectations regarding quietness during peak season. Being a classic beach hotel, it offers an authentic Hampton Beach experience, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the coastal town's energetic atmosphere.
Services and Amenities:
The Moulton Hotel provides a set of amenities designed to cater to a beach vacation, with a focus on convenience rather than luxury. A notable offering is the "light breakfast in the morning," described as a "continental breakfast" with cereals, muffins, and fruit, which, while not hot, is generally appreciated as a convenient start to the day, especially for families. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms and public areas. Crucially for Hampton Beach, "parking was included," which is a significant advantage in an area where parking can be scarce and expensive. While the parking lot may be a "two-minute walk away," as noted by one guest, the inclusion of parking is a considerable benefit. Other amenities include a children's playground, a sun terrace, and possibly evening entertainment or karaoke, aligning with a family-friendly beach resort vibe. Rooms are equipped with refrigerators and microwaves, which are incredibly helpful for guests planning to store snacks or prepare simple meals. The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk service, although some guest interactions suggest that communication can be challenging at times, particularly for those with specific issues or requiring detailed information. Luggage storage, express check-in/check-out, and a mini-market on-site add to the convenience. However, it's important to note that the hotel does not have an elevator, which can be a challenge for guests with strollers or heavy luggage, as explicitly mentioned in one review.
Features and Room Comfort:
The Moulton Hotel is an "older, historical property," and its features reflect this. While some aspects may show signs of age, positive reviews emphasize that "everything was very clean," and rooms are "surprisingly clean and comfortable." Room configurations can include two queen beds, suitable for families. Many rooms offer balconies, some with "ocean views" or "partial ocean views," providing a private outdoor space to enjoy the sea air. In-room amenities typically include flat-screen TVs, air conditioning, and premium bedding. However, some reviews highlight maintenance concerns, such as "a hole in the bathroom wall," "paint peeling," "stained curtains," and issues with the shower head having mold or water not getting hot enough. These indicate an inconsistency in room condition, and guests should be prepared for the possibility of a "hit or miss" experience as noted by one reviewer. The room sizes can also vary, with one guest finding their room "much smaller than advertised," making it difficult for a "pack n play." Despite these potential issues, the core comfort elements like clean and comfortable beds are often praised. The hotel's character stems from its age and direct beach access, appealing to those who prioritize location and a classic beach vacation feel over modern luxury amenities.
Promotional Information and How it Connects to "Hotels Near Of Me":
For local users searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" specifically in Hampton Beach, The Moulton Hotel's primary promotional strength lies in its unparalleled beachfront location and included parking. Marketing efforts would highlight: "Steps from the Sand: Your Ultimate Beachfront Getaway!" or "Affordable Family Fun: Right on Hampton Beach with Free Parking!" The hotel can target families, budget-conscious travelers, and those seeking a traditional, no-frills beach vacation experience. Positive reviews, particularly those emphasizing cleanliness and comfort for an older property, can be selectively used to address common concerns. Transparency regarding its age and the expectation of a "classic" rather than a "luxury" hotel experience is crucial for managing guest expectations. Promotions could include special rates for longer stays, family packages, or discounts for early bookings, especially given its popularity during the summer. While some past customer service issues have been noted, the hotel can focus on improving direct booking experiences and communication to enhance guest satisfaction. For those who prioritize being literally on the beach and are willing to overlook minor imperfections that come with older properties, The Moulton Hotel offers a pragmatic and highly convenient choice in the bustling Hampton Beach area, making it a relevant option in the "Hotels Near Of Me" search for a quintessential New England beach experience.

May 19, 2025 · Jolene GrubbA Perfect Spot for a Family Beach Vacation As someone who usually gravitates toward 5-star luxury hotels, I was pleasantly surprised by my stay at the Moulton Hotel in Hampton Beach. This vacation was all about making my kids happy, and finding a place close to the beach was a top priority. The Moulton Hotel delivered on that front—it’s just a stone's throw from the sand, which made our three-day beach getaway a breeze. One of the things I appreciated most was that parking was included and just a two-minute walk away. I noticed some people complain about this, but honestly, if they did their research ahead of time, they'd know what to expect. For us, it was a non-issue and much better than paying extra for parking elsewhere. Our room had two queen beds that were surprisingly clean and comfortable, which can be hit or miss in older, historical properties like this one. We also had a small balcony, a microwave, and a refrigerator, which were all incredibly helpful for our stay. Yes, the hotel is older, but everything was very clean, which is really all I ask for when it comes to a beachside hotel like this. There was a light breakfast in the morning, which my son actually loved—cereal, muffins, nothing hot, but it was just enough to start our day. Again, this is something that people should be aware of if they do a little research beforehand. Overall, I think the Moulton Hotel gets a bad rap for things that are easily manageable if you go in with the right expectations. If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, and convenient spot to take your kids for a beach vacation, this is the place. It's not a 5-star resort, but it’s perfect for what it is.
Aug 10, 2024 · Chelsea MarshallI don't know where to start. My husband and I just got home 20 minutes ago from celebrating our wedding anniversary. He chose this hotel from pictures online and the ocean view with the balcony. The location is great, central to everything and anything you want. The balcony is nice and overlooks the ocean. However, upon check-in, we were given an inside room with a view of the roof. My husband had to go to the front desk and try to explain (language barrier) that he paid extra for a room with a view and a balcony and he would not stay in the room we were given. The room in the photos is huge with plenty of space to move around. The reality is that the room is about 9x9, if that. The TV has exactly 1 channel (TNT). That's it. There are no chairs to sit in as there is no space for one. The outlets are falling out and don't work well, our phones didn't charge overnight. The beds are comfortable but small. When you enter the property there is a death-trap set of stairs, about 20 of them, that go almost straight up. Elderly people will definitely struggle. The breakfast area is nothing more than some of those gumball machines with some very stale looking cereal (we passed, can't verify taste from personal experience). The most horrifying part of the entire stay is the bathroom, which is less than 2x2. For reference, I am 5 feet tall. I had to sit sideways to pee otherwise I couldn't close the door because my knees were in the way. There's a stand-up shower that is half the size of something you'd find in an RV, so again, we drove home at 6am (30 miles), and passed on trying to shower there. We paid almost $230 for the night and we're disappointed. We weren't expecting luxury but we weren't expecting so downtrodden, either.
Jun 04, 2024 · Kerryann BoureI recently stayed at the Moulton Hotel with my family. This included 6 adults and 4 kids. We truly enjoyed our rooms that were connected with a large balcony. This gave us plenty of room to sit outside comfortably and it was super private. The location was perfect being only a stones throw away from the beach. This made for easy trips back and forth to the room. Also, the beds are extremely comfortable. I truly enjoyed the porch over looking the beach in the early morning sipping a cup of coffee and just hanging with the kids as they had their breakfast. Parking is not that big a deal. If they can't fit you behind the building. Their is over night parking a couple hundred feet directly behind the hotel. Yes, you have to pay out of pocket. But it's Hampton Beach parking is tight, get over it. It was not expensive and its a safe lot. When it comes down to it, the Moulton Hotel is a family owned establishment that is a historic part of Hampton Beach. The best part of my stay was talking with the owner and his lovely daughter Michelle. I learned about the history of the hotel and they clearly take pride in their heritage. With that said the Moulton Hotel is the "heart" of Hampton Beach and we will be back! Special shout out to Michelle. Thanks for the late night pop corn for the kids and making the place feel like home!
Aug 22, 2024 · ryan cuscovitch3rd year coming back, it’s like family. Not only is the location ideal, but it’s like fire works are set off just for those that stay at the hotel. The rooms are cozy, balcony ideal for people-watching, sunrise and sunset, or just relaxing after a long hot day. Breakfast has a variety to Pleaee everyone in the family. Owners take time to chat when they are not helping others. It’s like our second home for a week each year without the chores. Thank you for everything.
