For a newly remodeled hotel, I must say we were very disappointed today. Came to eat and tried to enter from the back dockside door.. it was locked. Which for the boaters coming in is not a good welcoming. Then, after walking all the way around to the main entrance, we got inside the bar/restaurant area to find no one behind the bar. Very bad first visit and clearly the last. Can't comment on rooms because we didn't stay there. Also was created by a sign that said, "Cashless only." Very negative vibe.
Introduction / Overview
In the heart of Wisconsin’s vibrant Fox Valley lies a hotel that has long been a landmark for both the local community and visitors: the Oshkosh Marriott Waterfront Hotel & Convention Center. Situated on the picturesque Fox River, this establishment recently underwent a significant renovation and rebranding, transitioning from its previous identity to become a key destination under the globally recognized Marriott name. The hotel’s goal is to blend its rich history with modern elegance, providing a premier location for everything from weekend getaways to large-scale conferences. The property is designed to be a central hub for activity, with a variety of amenities and direct access to the adjacent Oshkosh Convention Center via an enclosed skywalk. This connectivity is a major advantage for event planners and attendees, making the hotel a strategic choice for business and social gatherings. For locals in the Oshkosh area and across Wisconsin, the hotel offers a sophisticated option for hosting family, attending events, or simply enjoying a "staycation" with a view. The newly refreshed guest rooms are a key part of the hotel's appeal, featuring modern designs and comfortable furnishings. The hotel is also home to a new on-site restaurant, Anchor & Port, which offers a dining experience with stunning waterfront views. The hotel's commitment to quality is evident in its recent multi-million dollar transformation, which aimed to elevate its status as a top destination in the region. However, as with any major change, some guests have had varied experiences. One review from a guest attending a wedding noted issues with check-in delays, discrepancies in parking fees, and unexpected noise from maintenance. This feedback, while critical, highlights important aspects of the guest experience that management can address. Another review mentioned a negative "first visit," citing a locked back door and an unattended bar. On the other hand, the hotel has received praise for its clean rooms, comfortable beds, and overall location, suggesting that while some operational issues may occur, the core of the guest experience—the rooms and the views—remains strong. The hotel’s reliance on Marriott Bonvoy membership for perks like free Wi-Fi and in-room coffee is an important detail for potential guests to be aware of, as it can affect the overall cost and convenience of a stay. The hotel is striving to offer a premier experience, and its ongoing efforts to refine its services are a key part of its journey in the Oshkosh market.
The hotel's role in the community is multifaceted. It's a significant venue for weddings, as well as a prime location for corporate meetings and social events. The extensive event space, with over 25,000 square feet and multiple meeting rooms, makes it a go-to spot for both large and small gatherings. For leisure travelers, the hotel's waterfront location provides a tranquil and scenic backdrop for a relaxing stay. Guests can enjoy the Oshkosh Riverwalk, which runs right by the hotel, offering a perfect opportunity for a morning stroll or an evening jog. The presence of a fitness center and an exclusive M Club for Marriott Bonvoy members further enhances the hotel’s appeal, catering to a range of guest preferences. The hotel's rebranding under the Marriott name brings a global reputation for quality and service to Oshkosh, attracting a new level of clientele while still serving the local community. The varying reviews indicate a hotel in a period of transition, working to fully implement its new standards. For locals, this means having a premium lodging and dining option right in their downtown, providing a convenient and high-quality alternative for special occasions or when hosting visitors. Despite some of the noted challenges, the hotel's core features—its prime location, modern rooms, and comprehensive facilities—make it a key player in the city's hospitality landscape. It represents a significant investment in downtown Oshkosh, and its success is closely tied to the revitalization and growth of the area.

Jun 15, 2025 · Paula SchmitzWe stayed here for a wedding over a long weekend. I booked our room months in advance and requested early check in for 2:30pm weeks in advance, as we were part of the wedding party and very busy the day of our arrival. I understand that early check in is not guaranteed, however- not only was our room not ready at 2:30 it was also not ready at regular check in at 3:00pm. We waited at the hotel bar until a front desk staff approached us with our key around 3:15. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. The coffee/water was not adequately stocked for two people. No continental breakfast or pool facility. When we reserved we received a notification that we would be responsible to pay $3 per night for parking, upon check out we were informed it is actually $5 a night. Not a huge deal but we made sure to tell them that the reservation information had that wrong. You also have to sign up as a Marriott member, otherwise you are charged for WiFi usage and the coffee/water items in your room. Sunday morning at 8am we woke to maintenance noise happening, which was unpleasant, and we weren’t informed that it may impact our stay. Overall, this stay got the job done, but I would not say it qualifies as a four star hotel. I would also probably stay elsewhere in the future.
May 18, 2025 · Paige SteinWe stayed here for the ACW Wrestling Con. (Room 424) If it wasn’t convenient for not drinking at the event and driving we would have checked out Saturday morning. The beds are honestly like sleeping on cement blocks. I never sleep bad in hotel beds, we barely slept Friday night. Plus side the beds and room were very clean. There’s a blinking light on the smoke alarm that blinks brightly all night. No free breakfast or pool. Then there’s this god awful noise that happens from about 6:30am - 9am. No clue what it is. The staff and shower saved this place from being a total waste of money. They were amazing. It has a lot of potential but our stay was just kinda a disappointment. Edited to add: the customer service and follow through on this was exceptional. We appreciate the time they look to look into our complaints and address the problems. Definitely top notch customer service. We will give them another chance in the future.
May 20, 2025 · Kymberly CarlsonIf have kids with you recommend staying somewhere else. We weren't expecting a family oriented hotel but message received is kids not welcomed. Our request when booking was a higher floor which was not accommodated being told they "try to place families on lower floors". There is really no space to sit as all the tables and alcoves are designated to the restaurant and bar. We had picked up carry out for the kids and went down to have them eat and play a board game after a day of being out and about. It was explained due to the kids food we had to leave and made to pack up. We picked the location to be in walking distance of local business shops and downtown restaurants and will unfortunately stay at a hotel closer to the frontage road next time in town. The rooms are recently and nicely renovated. If have stayed here before they did get rid of the pool with the renovations but are lots of other pool/beach options in town to use.
