Wow! We were honored to stay at The Doe House while painting the Greetings from Oshkosh mural. It’s a beautiful home with so much rich history. The bonus being that the current owners (descendants of the original owner/builder) are huge supporter of the arts. Also, outfitted with modern amenities like steam baths, heated floors and modern kitchen appliances. I would highly recommend this house for lodging and venues since it’s so close to everything downtown. It was a pleasure meeting Becky and Paul and we cannot thank you enough!

The Doe House is a true gem in Oshkosh, a living testament to the city's rich architectural heritage. Built in 1869 by renowned Wisconsin architect William Waters for William Harvey Doe, the home has a captivating history that has been lovingly preserved by its current owners, Becky and Paul, who are descendants of the original builder. Their passion for historical preservation is evident in every detail of the house, which was saved from demolition and restored to its former glory. While the exterior retains its Victorian beauty, the interior is a stunning blend of historical aesthetics and modern luxury. The restoration team did an exceptional job of preserving original features like the wood floors and ceiling moldings, while also adding high-end modern amenities. This creates a unique and luxurious living experience that feels both historically significant and incredibly comfortable. As noted by guests who have stayed here, it's like "living in two luxurious worlds at the same time." The house is not just a place to stay; it's a destination in itself, offering a grand setting for everything from a personal retreat to a larger gathering. The owners' support for the arts is also a defining characteristic, as they offer an "Artist in Residence" program, which has brought a new wave of creativity to the historic home and our community. This unique approach to hospitality, combining history, art, and modern comfort, sets The Doe House apart from any other lodging option in the area. This local guide will help you understand all the layers of this fascinating property, from its historical significance to its role in the contemporary arts scene.

I feel extremely fortunate to have stayed in the Doe House, as one of the first artists in residence. The house is a Victorian beauty on the outside, and the height of modern luxury inside, while still retaining the historical aesthetics. They did SUCH a good job restoring: the wood floors, the period furniture, the ceiling moldings, the photogenic stairway--I could go on and on-- and I felt pampered by the gourmet kitchen and the spa-like bathrooms. It was like living in two luxurious worlds at the same time; it is the very best of the old and the new. There is plenty of room for entertaining downstairs and sleeping upstairs, and it is just a block or two from historic downtown, which is also charming as well as convenient (Wagner Market!). I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

My parents and I stayed at The Doe House on October 3, 2021 and we had the most wonderful time! We were the first to experience The Doe House as an AirBnB-style visit and Paul and Becky were fantastic to work with! Paul really knocked it out of the park when it came to hosting, as well! We loved getting a tour of the historic home and learning its story. My parents and I were able to relax and enjoy ourselves, and our room was perfect. This was a fun treat for us, and we will definitely be back!

What a beautiful place to spend some time with dear friends ❤️. Rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. As you walk around you just want to spend time in each room. You can walk from room to room and all the Jack and Jill entrances are so fun. I very much enjoyed the encouragement to explore the basement and attic. The original kitchen in the basement is the best. The steam showers weren't working when we were there but because it's such an amazing abode it's not worth taking stars or complaining about it. They are digitally controlled, computers meh 😐. Maybe I just need to stay again to try those out. It's so close to everything downtown, we walked over to the farmers market and bought fresh veggies and bread for dinner. I can't recommend or thank the owner enough for the wondrous experience that is The Doe House.

The Doe House is not simply a place to sleep on vacation, it is truly an experience. From the first time you walk in the front door to the grand front hall and see the breathtaking staircase, you know you are in for a treat. The care that has been taken to restore this treasure of Oshkosh can be seen in every little detail. The cozy kitchen and the formal dining room makes entertaining a breeze. Morning coffee in the sunporch. Evening cocktails on the front porch. Sing alongs in the gigantic living room with the grand piano! Each bedroom is decorated with antiques and the beds are comfy and soft. The bathrooms are completely modern and there is an amazing steam shower in one of them! Walking distance to Main Street and some great restaurants - Ruby Owl, Gardina's, The Roxy Supper Club, Becket's on the Fox River. Don't miss the New Moon Coffee Shop and Wagner Market for local treats and a bottle of wine. What an amazing gift to have this historic home open for vacation rentals, thank you Becky and Paul for giving us the opportunity to visit The Doe House.
