Booked through hotels.com, didn’t realize how poor the reviews were. Listen to all the previous reviews, it’s as terrible as it gets. We stayed for about an hour before deciding to book a different hotel. The whole place smelled of cigarettes and weed. Felt like a drug den. Walls were paper thin and you could hear everything around you. Bed was comfortable enough but honestly concerned for our safety. The employee that checked us in looked like they had walked off the street to work the front the desk, and checked us in as she complained about her job. Unwelcoming and frankly terrifying. I’ve noticed the management comments to all the negative reviews but I assure you nothing has been rectified. Stay away!
The Quality Inn & Suites Vestal Binghamton near University, situated at 4105 Vestal Pkwy E, Vestal, NY 13850, USA, falls under the category of "Hotels Near Of Me," aiming to provide accommodation to travelers and local users in the Vestal and Binghamton area, particularly those visiting the nearby university. As a Quality Inn & Suites property, it is part of the Choice Hotels family, which typically suggests a certain standard of amenities and services, often including complimentary breakfast, Wi-Fi, and generally comfortable rooms. However, an objective introduction requires a thorough examination of recent customer feedback, which, in this case, presents a significantly concerning picture of the hotel's current state.
The environment of the Quality Inn & Suites Vestal Binghamton near University, as described by recent customer reviews, is highly problematic and raises significant concerns regarding safety and comfort. Multiple reviewers consistently report that "The whole place smelled of cigarettes and weed," indicating a pervasive issue with air quality that is unappealing and potentially indicative of illicit activities. One review specifically states, "Felt like a drug den. Drug addicts in the hallways with their young children late at night. Section 8 housing for sure." These alarming descriptions suggest a highly unsafe and unwelcoming atmosphere that goes far beyond typical hotel nuisances. The "paper thin walls" are cited as a major environmental flaw, allowing guests to "hear everything around you," including "toilets flushing and water running next door," completely undermining privacy and quiet. The lack of cleanliness is also a critical issue, with bathrooms described as "very dirty," and one reviewer noting, "The smell of perfume trying to cover up the smell of smoke was overwhelming." While the building itself is a standard hotel structure, the operational environment within its walls, as depicted by these reviews, is reportedly severely compromised, presenting a major deterrent for potential guests. The concerns expressed about safety would naturally make any local user or traveler hesitant to consider this property for their stay.
The services provided by the Quality Inn & Suites Vestal Binghamton near University, as perceived by recent guests, also fall far short of expected standards for a hospitality establishment. While Quality Inn as a brand generally offers services such as a 24-hour front desk, complimentary breakfast, and daily housekeeping, the execution of these services appears to be severely lacking and, at times, actively detrimental to the guest experience. One reviewer describes the employee who checked them in as looking "like they had walked off the street to work the front the desk, and checked us in as she complained about her job. Unwelcoming and frankly terrifying." This indicates a severe lack of professionalism and basic customer service. Another incident details a request for sheets and a blanket for a pullout bed, where the front desk staff, described as a "Troll," "gave us attitude and pretended not to be able to find a blanket," resulting in a child freezing all night. This highlights a critical failure in meeting basic guest needs and a complete disregard for comfort. While the hotel might nominally offer a complimentary breakfast, the overall negative perception of service, cleanliness, and safety would overshadow any potential benefit. The standard services expected from a Quality Inn are evidently not consistently or competently delivered at this location, creating a highly unsatisfactory experience for guests seeking even fundamental hospitality. The explicit mentions of management responses to negative reviews, with the assertion that "nothing has been rectified," further suggest a systemic issue with service delivery and problem resolution at this property.
The features of the Quality Inn & Suites Vestal Binghamton near University, though listed as amenities typical for a mid-range hotel, appear to be significantly undermined by the severe issues raised in customer reviews. The hotel's location near Binghamton University would typically be a key feature, attracting students, faculty, and visitors. However, the environmental and safety concerns described by guests would likely negate this locational advantage. While the hotel might offer features such as rooms with king or double beds, a pullout sofa (as mentioned in a review), and potentially in-room amenities like a television, coffee maker, or mini-fridge, the functionality and cleanliness of these features are questionable based on feedback ("The coffee maker in the room didn't work"). The presence of a "comfortable enough" bed is one of the few neutral points mentioned, but even this is overshadowed by safety concerns. The brand's typical features often include free Wi-Fi, a business center, and possibly a fitness center or pool, but without positive confirmation from reviews, and given the extent of other issues, the actual condition and usability of these features remain highly uncertain. The hotel is pet-friendly, which can be a desirable feature for some, but this would also be viewed through the lens of the overall negative environment. In essence, while the hotel might possess the architectural features of a standard Quality Inn, the actual operational features, particularly related to maintenance, cleanliness, and safety, appear to be profoundly lacking, making them a deterrent rather than an attraction.
From a promotional standpoint, the Quality Inn & Suites Vestal Binghamton near University faces a significant challenge due to the overwhelmingly negative and severe customer reviews. While Quality Inn as a brand actively promotes its value, comfort, and consistent experience, this specific location's online reputation directly contradicts such claims. The most prominent promotional information for this hotel, ironically, comes from its customer feedback, which serves as a stark warning. Phrases like "Listen to all the previous reviews, it's as terrible as it gets," "Stay away!," "Horrible. Would give zero stars if able to," and "Never going back" act as powerful anti-promotions. The reviews explicitly advise against staying at this property due to pervasive smells, safety concerns, cleanliness issues, poor staff attitude, and thin walls. While the hotel might offer standard Quality Inn brand promotions, such as discounts for loyalty program members (Choice Privileges), AAA, AARP, government, or military personnel, these would likely be overshadowed by the severe negative experiences reported. For local users and travelers searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Vestal, the online reviews are a critical piece of information that would heavily influence their booking decisions. It is highly advisable for anyone considering this hotel to carefully read all available recent reviews and proceed with extreme caution, or preferably, seek alternative accommodation. Direct contact via phone at (607) 821-3806 or +1 607-821-3806 would be necessary for any specific inquiries, but potential guests should be fully aware of the serious issues reported by prior visitors before making a reservation.

Apr 15, 2025 · Henry VenturaHorrible. Would give zero stars if able to. Entire place smelled like weed. Drug addicts in the hallways with their young children late at night. Section 8 housing for sure. You could hear the toilets flushing and water running next door. They switched our room from two full beds to one king and the pullout didn’t even have sheets so when we asked for sheets and a blanket, the Troll at the front desk gave us attitude and pretended not to be able to find a blanket. Our son slept under a sheet and froze all night long. Would have left if it wasn’t so late at night and we had nowhere else to stay. Bathrooms were very dirty. Just all round bad experience. Never going back.
Apr 06, 2025 · jen gouldI am not basing this review on the stay in the hotel rooms. This is based on renting the venue. 1. We were told contracts would be ready, scheduled meets with them and they never showed up. 2. Rented the room for a party of 75 people. Was told we could set up the night before but was unable to fully set up as they had scheduled another group to use the room the morning of our party.. Which ran until almost 2pm so we had 1.5 hours to finish setting up before the early guests arrived. Very stressful and we didn't get everything done, so set up was still happening with guests arriving. 3.they allowed us to use the back door to access the room. There was a lot of ice and they didn't salt back there(for 2 days it looked the same so it wasn't new ice) We had 2 people fall, thankfully no major injuries. 4. I will say Stephanie was so helpful and on top of everything! We were so thankful to have her there!
Feb 11, 2025 · Dee LynUpon checking in, the smell of marijuana was overwhelming. When we proceeded to get to the room, the level of filth resembled that of an unclean fraternity house. The bugs, hair and missing roll of toilet paper caused us to leave immediately. The seriously outdated decor, and lack of updates, were minimal in comparison to the unsanitary conditions. Additionally, I would check the police blotter for the area, 112 calls to the facility in the last 2 months. Do yourself a favor and immediately pass.
Mar 11, 2025 · Michelle RugarIt’s in a great location not far from restaurant stores and the arena. It could use some updating in the rooms, but that’s fine. The biggest problem I had was waking up in the morning time and finding a dirty tissue behind my pillow where the mattress is 😭
