Location and Accessibility

The Ramada by Wyndham Augusta Downtown Hotel & Conference Center is located at a highly advantageous address: 640 Broad St, Augusta, GA 30901, USA. This places it directly in the heart of downtown Augusta, providing unparalleled access to many of the city's key attractions and business hubs. Its central position is consistently highlighted as a major benefit by guests, emphasizing convenience and walkability.

Specifically, its downtown location means guests are within easy reach of:

  • Pexcho's American Dime Museum: As one reviewer noted, the hotel is "directly across the street from Pexcho's American Dime Museum." This unique attraction is a quirky and fascinating highlight for visitors, making the hotel an ideal base for those keen on exploring Augusta's more unusual cultural offerings.
  • Savannah Riverwalk: The hotel is described as being "just two blocks from the Savannah Riverwalk." This picturesque urban park along the Savannah River is perfect for leisurely strolls, enjoying green spaces, and often hosts community events. Its proximity provides a beautiful natural escape right in the city center.
  • Augusta Museum of History: Located very close by, the Augusta Museum of History offers an immersive journey through the region's past, with various exhibitions. It's a convenient cultural stop for those interested in local heritage.
  • Miller Theater & Imperial Theatre: These iconic venues for arts and entertainment are also within easy walking distance, making the hotel a convenient choice for concert-goers or those attending performances.
  • James Brown Arena & Augusta Entertainment Complex: While specific walking distances vary, the hotel is well-situated for accessing major entertainment and event venues, crucial for those attending conventions, concerts, or sporting events.
  • Local Restaurants and Shopping: Being on Broad Street means a plethora of local restaurants, boutiques, and antique shops are just a short walk away. This vibrant street is the pulse of downtown Augusta's dining and retail scene.
  • Augusta National Golf Course: While not directly adjacent, the hotel is conveniently located off Interstate 20, providing easy access to the famous Augusta National Golf Course, home of the Masters. This is a significant advantage for golf enthusiasts visiting the area.
  • Colleges and Universities: The hotel is also near Augusta University and other educational institutions, making it suitable for visiting families, prospective students, or those attending university events. It's also minutes from the U.S. Army Cyber Command at Fort Eisenhower and the Georgia Cyber Innovation & Training Center.

The hotel offers free self-parking on site, including space for trucks and RVs, which is a considerable convenience for guests traveling by car in a downtown area. Its location off Interstate 20 further enhances its accessibility for those arriving from various parts of Georgia or beyond. While the hotel is in a bustling downtown environment, some reviews mention potential train noise due to nearby railroad tracks; however, its central location and access to amenities often outweigh this for many guests.

  • Laundry and Dry Cleaning Services: Guests can avail themselves of dry cleaning/laundry services, a convenience for longer stays.
  • Complimentary Newspaper: Free local newspapers are provided in the lobby for guests.

While the hotel offers a broad range of services, recent guest experiences indicate potential inconsistencies in the availability or quality of some of these services (e.g., a "broken and closed off" pool, or issues with ice makers and restaurant availability). Features / Highlights

The Ramada by Wyndham Augusta Downtown Hotel & Conference Center, despite mixed guest reviews, possesses several key features and highlights that make it a notable option for visitors to Augusta, particularly for those prioritizing location and core amenities:

  • Prime Downtown Location: This is arguably the hotel's strongest highlight. Situated directly on Broad Street, it offers unparalleled access to Augusta's vibrant downtown scene. Being "directly across the street from Pexcho's American Dime Museum" and just "two blocks from the Savannah Riverwalk" puts guests right in the middle of cultural attractions, dining, and entertainment, minimizing the need for extensive travel.
  • Views of the City and River: Many rooms offer "great view" of the city, and some specifically provide "river view" or "city view." This allows guests to take in the urban landscape or the scenic Savannah River from the comfort of their room, adding an appealing element to the stay. The Penthouse Level Lounge, Eagles Nest Rooftop Lounge, also boasts "panoramic views of Augusta."
  • Helpful and Accommodating Staff: Despite other reported issues, staff consistently receive positive remarks, with one review noting, "Staff were super nice and accommodating." This focus on guest service is a significant highlight, ensuring a welcoming and helpful experience for visitors.
  • Conference and Event Capabilities: The hotel's designation as a "Conference Center" means it's well-equipped to host various events, offering 5,000 square feet of meeting space. This is a crucial feature for business travelers, organizations, and those planning gatherings in Augusta.
  • On-Site Dining and Bar: The presence of BJ's Restaurant for Southern cuisine and a bar/lounge provides convenient on-site dining options, especially after a long day of exploring or meetings. The addition of a rooftop lounge further enhances the dining and social experience.
  • Indoor Swimming Pool: An indoor pool is a valued amenity, offering a place for relaxation and recreation year-round, regardless of the weather outside. (Note: A review mentions the pool being "broken and closed off" at the time of their visit, so it's advisable to confirm its operational status.)
  • Pet-Friendly Policy: For travelers with pets, the hotel's pet-friendly policy (with an associated fee) is a significant advantage, allowing guests to bring their furry companions along on their trip.
  • Essential In-Room Amenities: While not "super modern" as one review stated, the rooms come with "all the ammenities" that "worked properly," including free Wi-Fi, 32-inch cable TVs, coffee makers, hairdryers, and iron/ironing boards, covering essential needs for a comfortable stay. Clean bed sheets and bathrooms are also noted as positives.
  • Free Parking: Offering free self-parking, including for larger vehicles, in a downtown location is a substantial convenience and a cost-saving feature for guests driving to Augusta.

These highlights, particularly the central location and the staff's accommodating nature, position the Ramada by Wyndham Augusta Downtown as a functional and accessible option for those visiting the city.

The location is a huge plus! It's directly across the street from Pexcho's American Dime Museum, which was the reason for our trip. The room came with all the ammenities. Nothing super modern, but everything worked properly. Great view. Staff were super nice and accommodating.

"I chose this hotel for its convenient location and appreciated the late checkout options. However , I was disappointed by a few things. The diner was closed , and my room didn't have a microwave or refrigerator . One of the main reasons I selected this hotel was the indoor pool, which was unfortunately not operational due to hurricane- something that wasn't mentioned during the booking process. If you're just looking for a place to sleep and leave, it may be fine, but I wouldn't stay here again. Overall, it was a disappointing experience."

The carpet in the room was not clean. The elevator was not working but no staff assistance was provided to help guest with carrying bags to another floor. There is a big cat that sits on the reception desk counter. Everything looks dated and old. The pool area needs to be demolished. I do not recommend this hotel. We stayed because there was no where else in the city to go.

No working elevators, means this hotel is not accessible for people with issues walking. There is no help to carry bags upstairs. The only way to get upstairs is by an external staircase, which is concrete, with no cameras, making it pretty dangerous. They claim 2 elevators were out prior to the hurricane, and the other 2 went out from the hurricane. But there clearly is no rush to fix any of them. In the room itself, there were stains on the sheets, and we found drug paraphernalia under the chairs cushion.
