I really wanted to give this place a good review, but I really can't. Staying in the two bedroom, three full bathroom suite should have been sublime. But it really wasn't. The first floor was a kitchen, living room, and bathroom with shower. The second floor was a bathroom with jacuzzi, bedroom and master bedroom with en suite bathroom. The deal I made with my friends was that I would stay on the couch, which shouldn't have been a problem. Unfortunately, the pull out couch was too soft and didn't have enough support, even before it was unfolded. I wasn't concerned, since I would have moved the mattress to the floor. However, it was firmly attached to the frame. No worries, my friends asked the management to give them an extra mattress for me to put on the floor. They were told no without any explanation for why not. I spent the next two nights sleeping on a blanket on the not-very-soft carpet over what felt like icy cold cement. I shivered uncontrollably all night long until the third day, when my friends realized that the kitchen window was open and couldn't be closed. They called the management, who sent a maintenance worker over to close the window. While he was there, they asked him if HE could bring a mattress, which he kindly did. John L, my friend for life, deserves a raise. Anyway, all in all, I wouldn't go back there even if it was free. The furniture quality wasn't really a shock, but it wasn't thrilling. And I can understand how having the window open was mostly our fault for not noticing sooner. However, there's absolutely NO justifiable reason that the management should have refused to give me a mattress, since they knew there was nowhere comfortable for me to sleep.
When local users search for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania area, particularly for a resort-style vacation in the Pocono Mountains, Shawnee Village often appears as a prominent option. Located at 261 Summit Cir, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301, USA, Shawnee Village is a large, established resort known for its villa accommodations and extensive range of on-site activities, aiming to provide a comprehensive vacation experience for families and groups.
The environment of Shawnee Village is spread across a scenic landscape in the Pocono Mountains, offering a natural and often tranquil setting. The villas are designed to provide guests with a sense of being in their own private space, contributing to a relaxed holiday atmosphere. However, it is an objective observation that some units within Shawnee Village are "older rooms" and their interiors, including furniture quality (like pull-out couches), may be "dated" and "not thrilling." This means that while the resort is nestled in a beautiful natural environment, the interior comfort and modernity can vary. The expansive nature of the resort also means that some facilities, while available, might not be immediately adjacent to all villas, potentially requiring a short drive. Despite these points, the overall experience of being in the Poconos, surrounded by natural beauty and a wide array of activities, is a significant part of the resort's environmental appeal.
The services at Shawnee Village are intended to support a full-fledged vacation experience. The resort operates a management or front desk service to handle check-ins, check-outs, and guest inquiries. While staff responsiveness can sometimes be a point of concern, as indicated by a review detailing difficulty in obtaining an extra mattress and a delayed response to a broken window, there are instances where individual staff members, such as a maintenance worker named John L, go above and beyond to assist guests. This suggests a varied experience in customer service, where some interactions might be less than ideal while others are exemplary. The resort manages access to its numerous amenities and activities, providing information and potentially scheduling for guests. Housekeeping services are typically provided prior to arrival, with guests largely responsible for maintaining their villa during extended stays, though emergency maintenance support is available.
The core features of Shawnee Village are its spacious, apartment-style villas, designed to offer more than a typical hotel room. Units vary in size and configuration, such as the "two bedroom, three full bathroom suite" mentioned in a review. Common features across many villas include:
The resort's extensive recreational amenities are a primary reason guests choose Shawnee Village. These facilities cater to a wide range of interests and ages:
For dining, the full kitchens in the villas offer complete self-catering capabilities. However, the broader Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort complex typically features several on-site dining establishments, ranging from casual cafes to more formal restaurants, providing options for guests who prefer to dine out. The proximity to Stroudsburg also ensures a variety of external dining choices and grocery stores are within a reasonable driving distance.
Promotional information for Shawnee Village often targets family vacations, group getaways, and timeshare ownership. Guests can find various deals for rental stays through the resort's official website, timeshare rental platforms, and major online travel agencies. Promotions may include discounts for multi-night stays, seasonal packages (e.g., winter ski packages, summer adventure packages), or special rates for booking well in advance. As an established resort, repeat visitors may benefit from loyalty programs or special offers. It is always recommended to check the official Shawnee Village website or contact the resort directly using the provided phone numbers for the most current promotions, availability, and to clarify any specific concerns regarding unit features or service expectations. Guests are advised to explicitly inquire about the condition of the specific unit they will be assigned if they have concerns about dated decor or furniture. Furthermore, if extra bedding or specific accessibility needs are crucial, it is vital to confirm these directly with the resort prior to arrival and ideally obtain confirmation in writing, given past guest experiences.
In conclusion, Shawnee Village offers a comprehensive Poconos vacation experience for those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me." Its strength lies in its spacious villa accommodations with full kitchens and an impressive array of on-site recreational activities, including golf and skiing access. While some guests have noted concerns regarding the dated nature of certain unit interiors and inconsistencies in customer service responsiveness for specific requests, the resort's enduring popularity and extensive amenities continue to make it a go-to destination for families and groups looking for an activity-filled retreat in the heart of the Pocono Mountains.

May 17, 2025 · Sandra MortThe rooms we always receive are the older rooms. Wifi is also bad.

Apr 29, 2024 · Deedee CI read a lot of bad reviews and the pictures looked horrible. I called the Wyndham VIP number and asked which units were most recently renovated. I was told Crestview, Ridgetop and Fairways so I spent extra points and booked into Ridgetop. I let them know we needed a unit with as few steps as possible as well as a shower chair since they said there were only 2 Ada units and they were in Crestview. When checking in, I asked Victor if he saw the notes on the reservation and reiterated our need for as few steps as possible. He went in the back and came back with Judy, his supervisor. She said that he told her that we were so nice that we were upgraded to a unit with zero entry. The unit had 1 step into the unit. It had a bathroom on the 1st floor so you did not have to walk up the stairs to go to the bathroom. It had a king bed instead of a queen. I loved the fireplace, screened porch and large washer and dryer. The unit was updated and looked nothing like the pictures I saw online. We stayed in unit 230 Ridgetop Summit circle. Customer service was great. Anything we needed was sent over right away. Since we left Florida to be with family and to get away from Hurricane Ian, we thank God for a clean comfortable place with great service. Thank you Victor and Judy for accommodating our disability needs. You both are an asset to the Wyndham company. And yes we saw deer. Thank God we did not see bears.
Oct 08, 2022 · Sharon GrayThe king mattress was so worn out you had to climb out of the sink holes, and the Jacuzzi tub didn't work. We made a complaint at the front desk and the hotel manager did absolutely nothing. So on our 20th anniversary vacation we were sleeping in separate beds, and had no hot tub.
