The experience itself was bland , there's wasn't much to do. The rooms weren't any better; it stinked so bad as in old people (no offense). Some Tvs worked better than others. There were stains on the sofa and the main bed mattress was ripped up (supposedly they change the mattresses every 3-4 years). The service was also bad , we had checked in Saturday and we needed extra pillows including a mop but they wouldn't give it to us until Monday (except we never received anything for the whole week there.) Our netflix also got cut off and they wouldnt fix it. The pool was pretty decent even though it was hard to find. Also they claimed the pool water would be warm/ hot and if anything the water was cold. Not just the pool water was cold, but also the water where we stayed was . When we tried to take showers only one person could shower at a time and for less than 5 minutes , if any longer every one else had to take showers with FREEZING cold water unless they wanted to wait hours / the next day. The front door to our cabin would continuously lock on us which meant we had to use the back door to get inside. I don't know if it was the cold or just because the doors are old but they seriously need to fix it. Then the prices for the things if your needing extra stuff doesn't make sense to me at all, having to pay for soap to wash dishes .25 , paper towel is 1.00 , toilet paper is .75, and bags for the trash was either 25 cents for a large bag or 10 cents for a small. I know it's not a lot but putting a deposit in a place I already paid for shouldn't mean I have to pay more especially if those are needs. I personally wouldn't come back and I wouldn't want anyone to waste their points here or money on this resort. Only plus side was the reception lady , she was sweet and helpful with everything.
For those exploring resort options in the DuBois, Pennsylvania area, "Hotels Near Of Me" provides an in-depth look at Silverwoods and Wolf Run Manor at Treasure Lake. Situated at 1372 Old State Hwy 255, DuBois, PA 15801, USA, this property is part of an expansive 8,000-acre resort community in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains. As a resort, it offers a wide array of amenities and activities, aiming to provide a comprehensive vacation experience. However, it is essential to present an objective view, incorporating both the advertised features and real guest feedback, to ensure a well-rounded understanding for potential visitors.
Silverwoods and Wolf Run Manor are nestled within the vast 8,000 to 9,000-acre Treasure Lake resort community, which itself is located in north central Pennsylvania. This extensive setting provides a naturally beautiful backdrop of lush forests and rolling hills, ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. The resort boasts a remarkable natural environment, featuring three lakes: Treasure Lake, Bimini Lake, and Little Flipper Lake (the latter designated for children under 12 and seniors for catch-and-release fishing). These lakes offer opportunities for boating, fishing, and swimming, with designated beach areas. The property's sheer size means that guests will likely need to drive to access various amenities spread throughout the resort. The wooded setting is perfect for hiking and nature watching, and in the fall, the area is known for its spectacular fall foliage. Winter activities, weather permitting, include ice skating, sledding, a tubing hill, and cross-country skiing, making it a year-round destination. The resort is conveniently located just south of Allegheny National Forest and borders Pennsylvania State Game Lands #77, further enhancing its appeal for those seeking a connection with nature.
The resort community includes not only recreational facilities but also residential homesites, timeshare condominiums, and year-round camping facilities, creating a diverse and active environment. Guests can expect a serene and natural setting, though the sprawling nature of the resort means a car is often necessary to get around. Some accommodations, such as cabins, offer a woodsy setting with potential wildlife views, like deer near the property, providing a unique immersive experience.
Silverwoods and Wolf Run Manor at Treasure Lake aim to provide a comprehensive range of services and features. For recreation, the resort boasts two PGA 18-hole golf courses, appealing to golf enthusiasts. Water-based activities are central, with three outdoor pools and at least one indoor pool available across the resort. There are also tennis courts, a marina for boating and rentals (paddle boats, kayaks, canoes), and fishing opportunities. A fitness center and a recreation center are available for guests looking to stay active. For dining, the resort offers on-site restaurants, including Duffers Tavern and the Country Club, providing convenient options for meals and entertainment. Some units, particularly at Wolf Run Manor, feature private balconies or patios, and amenities like wood-burning fireplaces, full kitchens (with dishwashers, microwaves), air conditioning, and multiple televisions, including updated flat-screen TVs with Roku access.
However, guest experiences regarding the quality and availability of these services and features can vary significantly. One detailed review highlighted several notable issues. The cleanliness and upkeep of the rooms were a major concern, with descriptions of a "bad" smell akin to "old people," stains on sofas, and a ripped main bed mattress. While the resort supposedly changes mattresses every 3-4 years, this specific experience suggests inconsistencies. Service responsiveness was also criticized; a guest reported requesting extra pillows and a mop upon checking in on a Saturday but never receiving them throughout their week-long stay, despite being told they would arrive by Monday. Technical issues were also mentioned, such as Netflix being cut off and not being fixed, and inconsistent TV functionality.
The pool experience also received mixed feedback. While described as "pretty decent," it was noted as "hard to find," and the water, despite claims of being warm/hot, was reportedly cold. More critically, hot water availability within the accommodations was a significant problem. A guest reported that only one person could shower at a time for less than five minutes before the water turned "FREEZING cold," requiring hours or even waiting until the next day for hot water to return for subsequent showers. Furthermore, a persistent issue with the front door of a cabin continuously locking, forcing guests to use the back door, indicates maintenance problems.
Another point of contention highlighted was the resort's policy of charging for basic necessities such as dish soap ($0.25), paper towels ($1.00), toilet paper ($0.75), and trash bags ($0.10-$0.25). While these are small amounts, guests felt it was unreasonable to pay extra for "needs" after having already paid for their stay, especially when a deposit might also be required. Conversely, another reviewer, despite initial hesitation due to bad reviews, found their unit "very clean" (though slightly musty) and praised the internet connectivity, flat-screen TVs, and beautiful scenery, suggesting a better experience. They also noted the after-hours check-in process involving a code for a key box, emphasizing the need to call ahead.
The resort is marketed as a family vacation paradise, boasting a multitude of quality amenities for all seasons. Promotional materials often highlight the two 18-hole PGA golf courses, four lakes with fishing and boating, multiple swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), tennis courts, a recreational center, restaurants, live entertainment, playgrounds, an arcade, a salon, and a fitness club. The wooded setting is promoted for hiking and nature watching, with spectacular fall foliage and winter activities like ice skating and cross-country skiing also emphasized.
However, the actual guest experiences vary, presenting a mixed picture. While the vast array of facilities and the beautiful natural environment are undeniable strengths, the detailed negative review raises significant concerns about the upkeep of units, the responsiveness of service, and the functionality of essential amenities like hot water and internet. The specific criticisms about additional charges for basic supplies are also a notable point for potential visitors to consider. The positive feedback, while present, often acknowledges the older nature of the place but still finds satisfaction, particularly with cleanliness and scenery.
For individuals or families considering Silverwoods and Wolf Run Manor at Treasure Lake through "Hotels Near Of Me," it is crucial to weigh the extensive recreational offerings against the potential for issues related to unit maintenance, basic amenities, and service. While the resort offers a wealth of activities within a beautiful natural setting, ensuring a comfortable and hassle-free stay may depend on the specific unit assigned and a clear understanding of what is included and what incurs additional costs. It is advisable for prospective guests to contact the resort directly beforehand to confirm the condition of their specific unit and the availability of amenities, particularly concerning hot water and internet, and to clarify any additional fees.

Dec 30, 2024 · breeUnit smelled a little musty but it was very clean. The internet was great. The tvs were flat screened. It's an older place and with all the bad reviews I was hesitant to stay there. I'm glad I did. It has beautiful scenery. If you check in after hours you will have to know a code to get Into a box to get your keys. Make sure you call ahead of time because it is hard to reach them.
Sep 15, 2024 · Tammy BurressWhen checking in we were told to put down 150$ deposit when we weren’t told that when booking, and there was plenty of damages in the house so had to take pictures in order to get my deposit back, ALSO check out was 10am me and my husband packed our stuff up and head out to grab breakfast at 9am when we came back at 9:15 to eat the maid service was already there and ran through the house! BIG ISSUES.. What if my husband left to go get food and because they didn’t see a car there they walked in while I was showering or sleeping! Maid service should NOT be entering the houses until 10:01! We had over a half hour left in that house! that’s unacceptable and creepy and not safe or ok! I paid to be there till 10 not 9:15 so because there were there so early we couldn’t finish our bit of stay and eat breakfast at the house! Thank god I wasn’t there alone when a grown man welcomed himself in before check out but WHAT IF!? THIS IS WRONG!
Jul 26, 2024 · Maxxine MarinoThis was absolutely disgusting. The carpeting needs to be taken out, the place is musty, the bathrooms are beyond outdated. We had a water leak in the upstairs shower: called numerous times@ no one came. As petite as I am, I could barely fit into the downstairs shower. Do not come here!! We are expected to take out the linens, trash, start the dishwasher, etc.
Jul 04, 2024 · Jeanne BataliaFacilities are aging and not being taken care of. Minimal reinvestment is being made. The resort has great potential, but little is being done to restore it to its earlier glory days. Signed a long-time owner of a Silverwoods time share unit.
