Thanks to reading prior reviews I avoided a few of the mistakes, like having to check in at town center as opposed to the lodge itself. Granite, my family and I stayed in April and this may very well be why: the place felt abandoned. Clearly we didn’t go during peak season. No restaurants were open on the resort except the rock bar. Waterpark was closed. Lake activities were closed. The lodge indoor pool felt alone and empty, hot tub not turned on. We did however like the town center pool. Kids had fun there! Our room at the lodge was clean, and comfortable and the view was fantastic! I feel like if we visited during the summer we would have had a much better experience, but that’s not the fault of the resort I don’t believe. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The free breakfast in the morning was a bonus I wasn’t expecting. I’d like to come back in the summer and see this place for its full potential.

Split Rock Lodge is part of the larger Split Rock Resort complex, which includes various lodging options, from lodge rooms to villas and cottages, catering to different preferences and group sizes. As a resort hotel, its primary appeal lies in providing a comprehensive vacation experience, offering not just a place to stay but also a multitude of on-site recreational facilities, dining options, and entertainment for all ages. Its long-standing presence in the Poconos makes it a familiar name for generations of vacationers seeking a blend of outdoor adventure and comfortable amenities.
The environment of Split Rock Lodge is defined by its stunning natural surroundings within the Pocono Mountains. Perched directly on the shores of Lake Harmony, the lodge offers breathtaking views, particularly described by guests as "absolutely Beautiful" sunrise views from rooms facing the lake. The resort is set amidst lush forests and rolling hills, characteristic of the Poconos, providing a serene and scenic backdrop for a getaway. The overall complex is quite large, sprawling across a significant acreage, which allows for diverse activities and distinct lodging areas. Guests should be aware that due to the expansive nature of the resort, different facilities (e.g., the Lodge itself, the Town Center, the waterpark) might be spread out, sometimes requiring transportation within the resort, though check-in for the Lodge is specifically at the Lodge itself, as noted by a guest. The atmosphere can vary significantly with the season; during peak times (summer, winter ski season), the resort is bustling with activity, while off-peak visits may present a quieter, more "abandoned" feel, as one review describes, with fewer on-site services operational. This natural setting, combined with the resort's facilities, aims to provide an immersive vacation experience, allowing guests to enjoy both tranquility and adventure.
Split Rock Lodge, as part of the broader Split Rock Resort, offers an extensive list of services and features designed for a full resort experience. While availability of all amenities can be season-dependent, typical offerings include:
For those considering "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Poconos, Split Rock Lodge and Resort often features various promotional offers aimed at attracting different types of travelers. These can include:

Customer reviews for Split Rock Lodge provide valuable insights into the guest experience. One guest specifically highlighted the importance of reading prior reviews, particularly regarding the check-in process (checking in at Town Center vs. the Lodge itself, which they successfully avoided). This suggests that logistical clarity can sometimes be an issue, though it is manageable with prior knowledge. The most prominent theme in the reviews concerns the impact of seasonality on the resort's operational status.
One detailed review from an April stay described the place as feeling "abandoned" during the off-peak season, with most restaurants (except the rock bar), the waterpark, and lake activities being closed. Even the Lodge's indoor pool felt "alone and empty," and the hot tub was not turned on. This is a crucial consideration for prospective guests: the full "resort" experience, with all its features and vibrancy, is largely dependent on visiting during peak seasons (summer, winter). The guest noted that despite this, their "room at the lodge was clean, and comfortable and the view was fantastic!" and they "enjoyed stay," suggesting that the core accommodation quality is good. The "free breakfast in the morning was a bonus" they weren't expecting, which is a positive note.
Another review enthusiastically praised the "Sunrise view" from their room, calling it "absolutely Beautiful" and describing the Lodge as a "Hidden Gem." This reinforces the positive feedback on the natural beauty and room comfort. The consistent positive mentions of clean and comfortable rooms and excellent views are significant strengths.
In summary, Split Rock Lodge offers a compelling resort experience for those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Pocono Mountains, particularly for its scenic location and comfortable accommodations. However, potential visitors should be acutely aware of the impact of the season on the availability and vibrancy of the resort's extensive amenities. For a full-fledged resort experience with all activities operational and a lively atmosphere, planning a visit during peak summer or winter periods is highly recommended. For a quieter, more relaxed stay focused on the natural beauty and comfortable lodging, off-peak seasons might suffice, but with managed expectations regarding open facilities.

Apr 18, 2025 · Shannon HirshThis Lodge is really a Hidden Gem. My Sunrise view made this the best Hotel or Lodge room I ever had in my Life absolutely Beautiful. I will leave pics for everyone to see for themselves. 😊💯👍🏽
Mar 30, 2025 · Mike De La PalmaRobert is a great host. He is super responsive and help! The pool is very nice. The location is super for skiing, though the room may need a bit renovation
Jan 19, 2025 · Dandan SunExtremely disappointed! Checking in was a hassle! We struggled to find the correct location since the address listed on Expedia wasn’t the actual check-in spot. Instead, we had to drive around the courthouse to find it. The safety of this place is highly concerning! The room door wouldn’t lock, and we had to barricade it with chairs while traveling with our two kids! Being a Pocono Mountain resort, they should be prepared for snow, but that wasn’t the case. We had to slide through the snow just to reach our cars. The front entrance wasn’t shoveled or salted, and neither was the parking lot. Many guests, including us, were stuck trying to leave, with cars slipping down the hill. One even crashed into the trees!!! When I called the front desk for help, they said they are aware of the situation and they were working on it! This was at 11 AM by checkout time and nothing had been done!!! It’s unacceptable ! They didn’t prioritize guests safety, especially families traveling with children!!!
Feb 16, 2025 · Gulcin PakerWe booked a 3 day family stay at the lodge from December 27th to December 30th at ~$315/night. - Lodge: It feels like an abandoned place. There is no front desk manager. If you try to call the phone number provided at the front desk, no one will pick up. I asked when Breakfast would be served. The resort staff said 8am, the janitor said 9am. No one had a clue and during breakfast you had to walk around the lodge to find staff to replace empty food items. - Amenities: The lodge has an indoor pool that has mold on ceilings, dirty jacuzzi (lots of sand inside) and the sauna was broken, dirty towels everywhere and no one on site. It looked like it had not been cleaned in ages. There are also supposed to be dining options but again, everything was closed. - Rooms: Internet is weak and spotty. Absolutely no way to work or do a zoom call. Also, our TV did not work (no cable and unable to connect to internet). Others on the same floor complained about brown water coming out of their sinks. - The town center resort: It takes ages to check in. The resort has several amenities including arcade, bowling and indoor pool. The arcade was entertaining for the kids but many of the games were broken. When you try to exchange the arcade tickets for prices … good luck finding staff to do so. The indoor pool was cold and again not well maintained. It felt dirty (I.e, trash in the corners, floors black from dirt, etc.). - H2ooohh waterpark: The “ohh” probably stands for “oh my”! Two adults and one kid will cost you ~$100. That does not include a locker ($22/day) and towels (not even the hotel towels are allowed). The whole place was disgusting. There was mold, trash, dirt. One kid fell of his tube on the slide and rode down without it. His shirt was covered in brown gunk when he got out. I don’t understand how this park passes any inspections. The hotel management is fully aware of the issues. Every time I went to the resort front desk, someone was complaining about their stay. Needless to say, we checked out a day early and got another hotel. For over $300/night this place is a rip off and management should be ashamed of it.
