Booked 2 rooms via the telephone reservation service... specified both non-smoking and requested that they were next to each other. Called back 2 days prior to arrival to confirm requests. On arrival, we found one room was smoking and the rooms were almost as far away from each other as you could get. The rooms were clean but cheap, and there is some effort to maintain them. There are "amenities" such as a pool and a broken basketball net but it appears that neither get used much. The area behind the motel with picnic tables and a bonfire gets used often. The desk staff was friendly. My elderly parents were staying in the non-smoking room, however the telephone did not work and they do not carry cell phones. They clearly were not comfortable with the accommodations and we chose to leave. If you are going skiing for the weekend and/or visiting the Poconos and not spending a lot of time in your room this may be for you. It looked like a lot of partying was going to go down on a Friday night. Not super cheap at $120.00 per night.
Sullivan Trail Inn & Suites, located at 690 PA-940, Pocono Lake, PA 18347, USA, positions itself as an accessible and budget-friendly option within the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform category for individuals and groups visiting the Pocono Mountains. This establishment is a motel-style accommodation, offering a more direct and often more economical lodging experience compared to larger resorts or full-service hotels. It caters to travelers who prioritize affordability and a convenient location over luxury amenities, especially those intending to spend most of their time exploring the vast recreational opportunities of the Poconos.
The environment of Sullivan Trail Inn & Suites is typical of a roadside inn in a popular tourist region. It is situated along Route 940, a key thoroughfare through the Poconos, offering relatively easy access to various attractions. The surrounding area is characterized by the natural beauty of the Pocono Mountains, with forests and lakes providing a scenic backdrop. For those visiting the Poconos, the primary draw is often outdoor activities, including skiing and snowboarding at nearby resorts like Jack Frost and Big Boulder (within a reasonable driving distance), as well as hiking, fishing, and boating during warmer seasons. The inn’s immediate surroundings are not geared towards extensive on-site leisure, but rather serve as a functional base. There is an area behind the motel with picnic tables and a bonfire, which guests reportedly use often, suggesting a community-oriented outdoor space.
Regarding services and features, Sullivan Trail Inn & Suites offers basic yet functional accommodations. The rooms are generally described as clean, which is a consistent positive note from guests, albeit with an acknowledgment that they are "cheap" and show signs of wear. Efforts are made to maintain the rooms, and specific positive feedback includes very clean bathrooms, often on par with more expensive hotels, with clean and spotless towels. The beds are noted as comfortable, and the linens are clean and fresh, without stains. Guests also reported that the AC units in the rooms work effectively, with remotes conveniently stowed away.
However, it's important for prospective guests to align their expectations with the price point. While the rooms are clean, elements like old carpets and worn furniture (e.g., chairs needing updates, TV table drawers with broken rails) suggest that the decor and furnishings are not modern or luxurious. Some rooms may also have an initial "smell" upon opening the door due to a lack of cross-ventilation, although room fresheners could help mitigate this. Minor details like used tea bags found near coffee mugs also indicate occasional oversights in room preparation. Door locks, while functional, might benefit from replacement.
In terms of on-site amenities, the inn reportedly has a pool, though one review indicates it may not be heavily used, and a broken basketball net. These observations suggest that the recreational facilities on the property might be limited or not consistently maintained to a high standard, which could be a factor for guests expecting extensive on-site entertainment.
Customer service at Sullivan Trail Inn & Suites has received mixed feedback. There are positive mentions of friendly desk staff and helpfulness from the owner/staff, with one instance of assistance provided without being asked when a guest struggled with their door. This suggests a willingness to assist guests. However, there are also significant concerns raised. Issues with telephone reservations, such as incorrect room types (smoking vs. non-smoking) and rooms not being assigned next to each other despite specific requests, indicate potential disorganization in the booking process. A non-working telephone in one room was a major concern for elderly guests without cell phones, highlighting a safety and communication issue. Furthermore, there are reports of the inn appearing overbooked at times, leading to poor treatment of guests and an atmosphere where "a lot of partying was going to go down on a Friday night," which may not appeal to all travelers, especially families seeking a quiet stay. The pool being too small for the number of rooms booked also points to capacity issues during peak times.
Promotional information for Sullivan Trail Inn & Suites would typically emphasize its value proposition: being one of the most affordable options in the Pocono Mountains. Key selling points would include its cleanliness (especially bathrooms and linens), comfortable beds, and a functional AC. The strategic location near major Pocono attractions like ski resorts would also be highlighted, making it suitable for those primarily seeking a base for outdoor adventures. The presence of a friendly staff and a communal outdoor area with picnic tables and a bonfire would be appealing to guests looking for basic comfort and a relaxed atmosphere. For local users Browse "Hotels Near Of Me" and seeking budget-conscious accommodation in the Poconos, Sullivan Trail Inn & Suites presents itself as a practical choice. However, an objective introduction requires acknowledging the areas where expectations should be managed, particularly regarding the age and condition of some room furnishings, the functionality of some on-site amenities, and occasional inconsistencies in reservation management and guest service. It is highly recommended that prospective guests review recent pictures and manage their expectations based on the inn’s price point, focusing on its utility as a clean and affordable place to sleep while exploring the Poconos.

Aug 29, 2017 · Catherine CuppNot sure whats wrong with people giving bad reviews to this place. I almost canceled my reservation after reading all reviews and thank god I didnt canceled. Let me start with this, its not 5 star hotel and you are not paying for same. So keep expectations aligned to how much you are paying to stay here and which is most cheapest in Pocono mountains. Now about room condition, it was good I wont say excellent or best but good. Room were clean and everything from chairs to tables and carpet was clean. Though carpet is old and doesn't give you good vibes. TV table drawers were not opening properly because side rails were broken. Chair cushion could would have seen better days and need some updates. Bathroom were very clean and on par with other $150-200 night costly hotels(stayed in couple in Poconos). All towels were clean and spotless. AC was way up but they have remote stoved in side table drawers. Bed were comfy and linens were clean and fresh no stains or anything. Pillows were clean but they need to replace as they are not in good condition. Check in experience- owner/staff lives in behind offce so just ring bell. Good staff, even came to help me without asking when I was struggling to open door. Things I didnt like. Smells when you open door, its because there is no cross ventilation causes room to smell different, some room freshener would help. We found used tea bag near coffee mug. Door locks need to be replaced they worked but changing would be good idea. Overall highly recommend at this low price, rest check the pictures for getting good idea. We stayed for two nights.
Oct 26, 2021 · Vinod Kuwaryikes. Staff is rude (a definite language barrier- they only speak in Hindi and don't expect a smile!). This hotel is worth a $50 stay, but please don't pay more. Don't forget to get a fresh set of sheets and pillowcases on check in. I had a king bed room. Large, clean (except for the mold), AC worked well, some updates throughout. The pool was clear, although I did not get to use it. Mold on the shower curtain. Very basic type of place. They could do better with some customer service improvements and spring for a new shower curtain or some bleach. They use the thin ones you could get at the Dollar Tree. No where to walk (the pics online are misleading) and NO WIFI. They may have a router in their office, but it won't reach the rooms. My door didn't seal so the cigarette smoke from the neighbors drifts right in. The staff was so uncomfortably rude, that the whole experience was pretty awful.
Aug 24, 2019 · April MarieThe motel appeared to be well maintained and the room was clean. As it was off season when we stayed, April, there was a minimal staff of one, who wore many hats.A few recommendations: Our room, 115, seemed to have some "loose" items. The mirror in the bathroom was not secured well, the toilet seat needed to be tightened and the lounge chair was a bit rickety. Also apparently the towels are stored in a room where the employees smoke, because both sets smelled of smoke. The towels should be stored in a smoke free environment. The bottom line, the price is reasonable, the WiFi was good and it is clean, so all on all it is a good place to hang your head at night.
Apr 12, 2017 · John ReatzI saw pictures of this place when it was brand new on Priceline.com, however the place is a funk now. I had to cancel reservation. The place smelled of cigarette and the bed looked used not cleaned the room had an old moldy odor the coffee mug look dirty as if it hadn't cleaned in weeks. And I thought I was coming to a place with kitchenette based on the pictures I saw. There is only one room with kitchenette. It was disastrous.
