It was a lot better than expected! Very clean and perfect for when you only need a clean hotel for a place to sleep and do not want to pay $200+ for the night. The bed was clean & comfortable. The room was small, but "roomy" and decorated nicely. Very much so a place built long ago, with budget-friendly repairs and wall unit ACs, but a great budget-friendly stay with polite & helpful staff. 4 stars on location only because you drive a steep hill to go into the parking lot. If you're accustomed to nice hotels, you'll be "slumming it" if you're used to cheap motels, it's the nicest place I've seen at this nightly rate.

Located at the base of the iconic Sugar Loaf Bluff, this hotel serves as a convenient and cost-effective home base for exploring all that Winona has to offer. This is a hotel for the savvy traveler who wants to save on lodging to spend more on experiences, from exploring the scenic Mississippi River to enjoying the city’s vibrant downtown.
The hotel acknowledges its role as a budget-friendly choice, which is a key part of its appeal for locals. As one recent guest noted, it’s "a lot better than expected" for a clean place to sleep when you don't want to pay a premium. The rooms, while described as small, are designed to feel "roomy" and are decorated in a pleasant, functional style. This approach resonates with many Minnesotans who appreciate practicality and value. The staff is often highlighted for being polite and helpful, a testament to the kind of warm hospitality that is a hallmark of the region. However, as with many places, experiences can vary. One customer's experience with a serious issue, although ultimately resolved with a reimbursement, highlights the importance of open communication with the front desk and being aware of the types of challenges that can sometimes arise at any hotel. The hotel's management's public response to a complaint, while not ideal, shows that they do engage with feedback.
What makes Super 8 by Wyndham Winona MN particularly relevant for the local community is its straightforward and honest value proposition. It is a place that understands its market, providing a dependable stay without the added costs of luxury amenities that some travelers don't need. The property, while an older building, is maintained to provide a decent and comfortable experience, making it a reliable option for those who frequently travel to Winona for work, to visit family, or for a spontaneous trip. It’s not about opulence; it's about providing a solid, clean, and safe place to stay at a price that won’t break the bank. This focus on fundamental hospitality services is what makes it a practical and trustworthy option for a large segment of the traveling public in Minnesota.

Jun 17, 2025 · LeslieI was having a crisis with my apartment being infested by black mold, I booked two nights, after waking up from the first night my wife woke up to find bed bugs in her pajamas. I went to go speak with the front desk about the situation and instead of being kind and understanding, they laughed in my face and called my an idiot for booking rooms with them, after fighting with them I did eventually get reimbursement for both nights but nothing to pay for the $250+ cleaning costs of my personal items and replacement of the countless newborn diapers I had to throw away.
Aug 02, 2025 · dark dragonThe room was clean, the refrigerator in the room ruined all my food, it has a temperature issue it kept freezing and unfreezing everything unless it went in the door. We were told that all the furniture was going to be replaced within two weeks so I do hope that those are all replaced. The bed was comfortable the breakfast was standard… it’s located 5 mins away from the sugarloaf trail and it’s so beautiful. It was nothing fancy but we were comfortable. I’d stay again.
