Wonderful place to stay right on the water of lake Como. This stunning vintage inn, is currently renovating to make this place even more beautiful and comfortable. This hotel has a great historical connection to the infamous John Dillinger who stayed in this hotel and they have a beautiful sweet called The Dillinger suite that we stayed in, with a large room, a living room a jacuzzi and a large private balcony as well as a three-sided fireplace. Some rooms are being renovated while others are complete. The vintage rooms are also beautiful. The staff is made up of wonderful people who make a great effort to make sure everything is done right. The manager of the property, Eric made sure every guest was taking care of. The restaurant on the property, the getaway has delicious food with generous portions at a reasonable price. I rarely eat at hotel restaurants but we've eaten there three times just because it was so darn good. Highly recommended place to stay and being right on the lake you have a cool breeze and lots of water activities. We enjoyed watching geese ducks and other wildlife while we ate or from the balconies behind many of the hotel rooms. This is our second time staying here and are planning on staying here again next time we are in town.

All I can say is wow. The French Country Inn blew me away in a couple of different ways, but the first has to be the incredible work done by Eric, the hotel manager. You can tell the passion and care he has for his work! Dedicated, knowledgeable, and kind. The location and views from the rooms are amazing, and I couldn't ask for more. I was informed our room had not been renovated yet, and while I loved our stay, I appreciated knowing that more renovations would be coming so the rooms would be more updated and modern. No functionality issues in the room, just minor appearance elements brought the rating down from a 5/5 to a 4/5. Overall, I'm thankful I found this place and will absolutely be returning.

I wanted to find a romantic place to spend the night away from home as a surprise for my wife’s birthday. Boy did I find a great location. The French Country Inn is an unbelievable hotel with stunning views of Lake Como in Wisconsin. At first glance from the parking lot it looks like an ok motor inn. (Editor's note: It was still cold in Wisconsin so the landscaping had not been completed and the pool was still covered) The view from the parking lot is deceiving. This hotel is full of charm and surprises. When we first arrived we were greeted in the lobby by Eric, the general manager. We immediately felt welcomed and comfortable. Eric explained the history of the hotel and the history of the lobby. He told us the lobby was built in Denmark, disassembled and shipped to Chicago. It was reassembled and displayed as part of the Danish exhibit during the 1893 Columbian Exposition World’s Fair in Chicago. The lobby was again disassembled and then reassembled at its present location. The lobby is lined in warm oak panelling and bookshelves. The floor is inlay with multiple designs including a compass rose. There is a beautiful staircase and oak windows which were. The windows in the lobby were also of Danish design and were triangular in nature. There were even two books written about the hotel and that were on display in the lobby. The hotel is old and the climb to the second floor on a very windy cold April evening was non-eventful, but the staircase is outside and Wisconsin’s winter has taken its toll on the paint and treads. Don’t let my description deter you from coming here. Now for the rooms. When we opened the door to our room we transformed to a room that has been totally made over. It was modern with a touch of class. It was stunning! A high ceiling with 2 skylights, a gas fireplace and a very comfortable bed and pillows greeted us with one of the most beautiful views of picturesque Como Lake. The lake is just feet from the hotel. You can almost reach out and touch it. There is even a balcony with 2 comfortable chairs and if the weather was better we would have had our morning coffee out there. There is also an excellent restaurant attached to the Inn, The Getaway. I will post reviews of our dinner and breakfast there as well. I highly recommend the French Country Inn on the lake for a relaxing and enjoyable night's stay.

We have stayed at many resorts and hotels and by far our best experience was here at the French Country Inn. From the moment we checked in, Kortlyn was amazing. She answered every question we had and even some we didn't know we had!! She was so kind, informative and welcoming. Adrianna served us old fashioned's which were amazing and she was so nice and knowledgeable. The staff were so attentive and friendly, Celia was wonderful and so sweet. Our room and the restaurant were incredible, we couldn't have asked for a better place to be. Cannot wait to come back.

Great place. Met all our needs. Rooms could use some updating. Carpets, curtains stained. I was excited about the jetted bathtub. Filled it water which took forever because the plug didn’t work, just to find out jets don’t work. Very kind staff and Getaway Restaurant was great and great atmosphere.
