This is the kind of place you review because the owners deserve it even though you don't want to because you don't want people to know about! I only stayed for a night, but I will definitely be utilizing The Lodge again! I travel to West North Carolina for weddings frequently and finding a nice place to stay can be a challenge. The Lodge is clean, updated and adorable. The owners went out of their way to find cute decorative touches that make you feel that you are in the mountains without being over the top. They communicated my check-in and checkout information by text which is definitely my preference. I was able to park go directly to my room and sit on the beautiful porch right outside my door to decompress. This is truly a gem. Already looking through my calendar for other dates I need to stay. The walls are thin, as should be expected at rustic lodges, so if you are one who can't sleep at the slightest sound, pack your ear plugs. As a regular traveler, I always have a set with me.

The Lodge Nantahala River is nestled in a peaceful and serene environment, offering guests a true mountain retreat experience. Situated in the Nantahala Gorge, the lodge is incredibly close to the renowned Nantahala River, with the river itself just "directly across the street." This proximity means guests can enjoy the calming sounds of the water and the fresh mountain air. The outdoor spaces are a significant draw, with "beautiful porch right outside my door to decompress" and "long wide covered porch" featuring rocking chairs, perfect for enjoying morning coffee and bird watching. Guests also appreciate the "outdoor seating areas with firepits," which are described as inviting spots to relax and unwind after a day of activities. While the road leading up to the building is noted as "a little steep and twisty," and the main parking area might be "a bit of a walk up to the rooms," these minor considerations are often seen as part of the authentic rustic lodge experience and are well worth it for the tranquility and value provided. The surroundings are clean and well-maintained, contributing to the overall pleasant ambiance.

We loved staying at The Lodge in the fall of 2024. The price was great, the room was big and immaculate, the bed was comfy, and the kitchenette appliances looked brandnew. The outdoor seating areas with firepits were inviting, although when we were hanging out we mostly chose to sit in the rocking chairs outside our room on the long wide covered porch. Very nice for morning coffee! Good bird watching. Very quiet, no road noise. The Nantahala Outdoor Center, with its riverside picnic tables and restaurants, is only about a three minute drive down the road. Bryson City, with a good selection of restaurants, is only about 15 minutes away. The only drawback is that the road up to the building is a little steep and twisty, and the main parking area is a bit of a walk up to the rooms. Maybe that's part of the reason the price is so good! We look forward to staying here again soon.

I stayed at the Lodge Nantahala twice in 2024 and cannot recommend it enough. It is pristinely clean and has so many nice amenities to enjoy as you can see in the photos. The rooms are great with fantastic decor. It is located in a great spot with all there is to do in the surrounding area. Perfect location for rafting, hiking, and motorcycling to name a few all in or around the Smoky Mountains. I loved that they had multiple fire pits and supplied plenty of wood. When I was there they even had steaks etc for sale to grill. For motorcyclist you have your own parking spot as well which is nice. Everyone has to unload at the top of the driveway, then park below to walk back up to the lodge. Some might find this a hinderance but most should be ok. Motorcyclist you have to very careful riding to the top to unload as the flat area is very small and if a car or two are up there you might have trouble because of the incline. The Lodge is a fabulous place to stay and I am looking forward to returning this year.

This place is awesome!! So much attention to details. S’mores making ingredients on the porches at check-in and fire pit areas on both ends of the lodge. A Blackstone is available for use by the guests. The rocking chairs on the porch were great. The room was clean and comfortable and well appointed with supplies. It smelled so fresh and welcoming. The lodge is very affordable and the owners were kind and accommodating. Only regret was we didn’t stay long enough. Definitely will return to this amazing lodge.

We had such a lovely stay at The Lodge Nantahala River! The cozy cabin was the perfect mix of rustic charm and comfort—clean, thoughtfully stocked, and tucked into a peaceful setting that made it easy to relax. One of our favorite touches was the nightly s’mores—such a fun and nostalgic way to end the day. It really added to the whole experience. The folks in the office were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and helpful recommendations. It’s clear they care about creating a great experience for their guests. If you’re looking for a place that feels like a little retreat but still has all the comforts you need, this is it. We’ll definitely be back!
