We recently stayed here because an AirBNB unit I booked turned out to be a nightmare! When I called the Radnor Hotel about the issue and asking about availability, they immediately assisted and reserved a room for our use. They also applied a military discount to the fee (we are veterans) I had booked an AirBNB for a medical appointment scheduled for Monday morning and I wanted to cook a nice dinner and breakfast as cooking helps me to relax. Instead I had to scramble to find a place to stay. Upon entering the Radnor Hotel, my anxiety and anger lessened. It is lovely, bright, clean with all amenities you want in a hotel. The desk attendant was understanding, attentive and so helpful. Our room was fresh and clean. The bed was comfy and inviting. We enjoyed watching some tv before retiring for the night. There was a limited continental breakfast (restaurant under construction) - all we needed to get our morning started. The staff continued with their attentiveness and friendliness through check-out, even recommending local eateries for brunch. We chose First Watch and it was a great recommendation-try the Morning Meditation drink. I do expect to return to the area for further medical appointments. Looks like we found the place to stay!

Environment and Location:

The Radnor Hotel enjoys a prime location in St. Davids, part of Philadelphia's affluent "Main Line" region. Situated on Lancaster Avenue (Route 30), it offers convenient access to major transportation routes including I-476, I-76, I-95, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, making it easily reachable by car. Its proximity to the Radnor SEPTA Regional Rail Station and St. Davids SEPTA Station is a significant advantage for guests who prefer public transportation, allowing for exploration of the area without needing a car.

The immediate environment is characterized by its charming suburban setting, offering a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere compared to the bustling city center of Philadelphia. Despite this tranquility, the hotel is just a short distance from major attractions and educational institutions. It is in walking distance to Villanova University, a convenient feature for prospective students, parents, or visitors to the campus. Other nearby colleges like Eastern University, Cabrini College, Rosemont College, Bryn Mawr College, and Haverford College are also easily accessible. For shopping and dining, the hotel is conveniently close to the King of Prussia Mall (approximately 8.6 km away) and the King of Prussia Town Center (approximately 6.7 km away), as well as numerous highly-rated local eateries, such as the recommended First Watch for brunch, and Fleming's Steakhouse within walking distance for those seeking a fine dining experience. Valley Forge National Historical Park is also within a 6-mile radius. While the location near a train station and major road can lead to occasional noise disturbances, guests often find the peaceful overall atmosphere and convenient access to be significant benefits.

The hotel itself features "beautiful Award-Winning Formal Gardens," which serve as a picturesque backdrop, especially for events. These gardens contribute to a serene and inviting atmosphere, providing a pleasant outdoor space for guests to relax.

Services and Amenities:

The Radnor Hotel prides itself on delivering a high standard of service, consistently praised by guests. The staff, particularly the front desk attendants, are frequently described as "understanding, attentive, and so helpful." This level of personalized service is evident in instances where guests have been immediately assisted with reservations during unexpected travel difficulties and offered military discounts, showcasing a genuine commitment to guest well-being.

Key amenities and services include:

  • Guest Rooms and Suites: The hotel features 173 guest rooms, including 5 luxury suites. These rooms are described as "lovely, bright, clean" and "fresh and clean" with "comfy and inviting" beds. They are "newly refurbished" with a smoke-free policy and feature modern comforts such as free in-room WiFi, flat-screen HDTVs with premium channels, mini-fridges (with microwaves available on request for a fee), coffee/tea makers, and laptop-friendly workspaces. Housekeeping services are provided daily, a notable feature post-pandemic, as highlighted by a repeat business traveler.
  • Dining: The hotel's on-site restaurant, formerly Glenmorgan Bar & Grill, is currently undergoing renovations to become "Triple Crown Restaurant, Events & Garden." During this construction, breakfast, lunch, and dinner services are temporarily suspended. However, the hotel provides a "limited continental breakfast" (or "Express to-go Breakfast" during certain renovation phases) which is appreciated by guests for getting their morning started. They also offer complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby each morning and can sell beer, wine, and liquor at the front desk. The hotel staff are excellent at recommending local eateries for alternative dining options, as evidenced by the positive review of First Watch. Once Triple Crown opens, it is expected to offer a fresh, modern design and an elevated culinary experience, serving lunch, dinner, and possibly late-night bites, with a focus on spirited American cuisine.
  • Fitness and Business Facilities: The Radnor Hotel features a 24-hour "Club 591 Fitness Center" and a 24-hour business center, catering to both well-being and productivity needs.
  • Event and Meeting Spaces: With over 7,000 square feet of banquet and event facilities, including the Grand Terrace Ballroom, the hotel is well-equipped to host weddings, social events, and business meetings. These spaces are also undergoing renovations to be rebranded as Triple Crown Events.
  • Additional Services: Complimentary self-parking, free high-speed WiFi in all guest rooms and common areas, dry cleaning/laundry services, and concierge services are available. A full-service spa, Essent Spa, and Jay Michael Salon are also located on-site, offering resort-style amenities for relaxation and personal care, including massages, haircuts, and medispa services. A 24/7 Mini Market is available in the lobby for grab-and-go snacks and beverages.

Features and Unique Qualities:

The Radnor Hotel distinguishes itself through several key features. Its blend of classic charm and modern updates is a significant draw; while some common areas like the lobby and elevators might still reflect an older aesthetic (as noted in earlier reviews before more recent renovations), the guest rooms are consistently praised for being "newly renovated," "bright," and "clean." This commitment to room quality ensures a comfortable stay. The hotel's exceptional customer service, characterized by "attentiveness and friendliness" from check-in to check-out, is a recurring highlight from guests. The staff's proactive assistance, such as offering military discounts and providing local recommendations, goes beyond basic hospitality, creating a welcoming and supportive environment.

The ongoing renovations, particularly the transformation of its food and beverage operations into the new "Triple Crown Restaurant, Events & Garden," signify a significant investment in enhancing the guest experience. This forward-looking approach indicates a commitment to staying competitive and meeting evolving guest expectations. The formal gardens offer a unique aesthetic and event potential, setting it apart from many urban or suburban hotels. The presence of a full-service salon and spa on-site elevates the guest experience, offering convenience for relaxation and pampering.

The hotel's adaptability, as demonstrated by its swift assistance to guests facing unexpected accommodation issues, underscores its problem-solving capabilities and dedication to service recovery. The consistency of a "great shower" and "quiet and very clean" environment, even during remodeling, speaks to the hotel's operational efficiency and commitment to guest comfort regardless of internal projects.

Promotional Information and Value Proposition:

For individuals searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the St. Davids/Main Line area, The Radnor Hotel offers a compelling value proposition. It positions itself as a "first-class hotel with exceptional service," backed by over 60 years of serving the Main Line. The hotel leverages its positive guest feedback, emphasizing its clean, comfortable, and newly renovated rooms, alongside the "super nice staff." The "military discount" policy also serves as a strong promotional point for veterans and active service members, showcasing a commitment to a valued demographic.

While the temporary closure of its full restaurant for renovations is a current consideration, the hotel proactively communicates this and offers alternative solutions like the limited breakfast and local dining recommendations, demonstrating transparency and guest-centricity. The upcoming "Triple Crown Restaurant, Events & Garden" will be a significant future promotional asset, promising an elevated culinary and event experience. The hotel's status as a top-rated choice for convenience to Villanova University and the Main Line's medical facilities (like Rothman) is a strong promotional angle for visitors with specific purposes in the area. The availability of diverse event spaces and a full-service salon and spa allows the hotel to promote itself as a versatile destination for both business and leisure, including weddings and social gatherings. Overall, The Radnor Hotel promotes itself as a reliable, clean, and service-oriented establishment that consistently aims to provide a pleasant and comfortable stay, even amidst ongoing improvements, making it a highly recommended option for travelers to the region.

Great hotel (even during remodeling). Super nice staff at the front desk. Quiet and very clean. Great shower! Great location. My husband had surgery at Rothman. Flemings Streak house in walking distance. Easy ride to and from hotel. Highly recommend!

My experience at this hotel was excellent. The front desk staff was great during check-in and check-out. My husband and I attended a friend's birthday party at Fleming's, which was a short walk from the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

Apart from the food we were served for our dinner (buffet for business meeting), the hotel was great. Rooms were fresh and updated and meeting rooms were elegantly decorated; room temperature was great. Service at the front desk was friendly and attentive.

This was the first time we stayed at this hotel. The rooms were great! They were clean and spacious for our needs. Also, the staff were so kind, answering our questions whenever we came to the lobby. Currently, they are under renovations, but the lobby and the rooms are still really nice. I also loved the location as it was near where I needed to be. I look forward to an opportunity to go back, especially once the renovations are completed.
