We were really looking forward to our stay, a get away badly needed. For the price we paid, the experience didn’t meet our expectations. While the rates are competitive for the area, other places offer more amenities and a smoother experience—we visited a few other places while we were there, which made this even more apparent. The room was small and not as clean as we had hoped, the bed was uncomfortable, and the TV setup was lacking. The shower was especially frustrating—it took forever to warm up, never got truly hot, and kept losing water pressure. The dining area where breakfast was served was also not very clean. While breakfast was included, the process felt disorganized. We were scheduled for breakfast the first morning but were never asked about the following days, which left us unsure of how it worked. Their special avocado toast with bacon was underwhelming—just sliced avocado with salt and pepper on hard toast, with cut-up pieces of bacon and eggs on the side, but they never asked how we wanted the eggs cooked. Communication was another challenge. We asked for extra firewood via text, as they stated that was their preferred method of contact. The second night, we received no response, so we texted the second number. After they eventually delivered the wood, they told us there would be an additional charge. This was confusing because on the first night, they delivered extra wood without mentioning any extra fees. When we pointed this out, they replied, "Enjoy it on us," which only added to the inconsistency and confusion. We knew when we checked in that the owner wouldn’t be around for the weekend, so we were prepared for that. However, the atmosphere still felt a bit off, and the people running things seemed disorganized. We ultimately left a day early despite having paid in full. After we left, the person in charge did text us to say they hoped everything was okay. I chose not to respond, as I felt our experience was already clear and that texting wasn’t the best way to communicate my concerns. Instead, I’m sharing my honest review here for future guests. For the money we spent, the quality and experience did not match our expectations. Hopefully, this was just an off weekend, but we wanted to share our honest experience so others can make an informed decision.

Mar 16, 2025 · Melissa O'DayIf it wasn't for the snow outside I would have sworn I was staying at a B&B in New Orleans! What a cozy eclectic inn! And the owners go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. We adored their hospitality and will be looking at a return trip!
Dec 30, 2024 · chad mooneyhamWe cannot express enough gratitude to Heather and Jarret, the wonderful owners of The Village Inn of Woodstock, for helping us create such a magical wedding day. When we asked to be married on their beautiful property, they immediately accommodated us, and their entire team went above and beyond. Special thanks to Sawyer, the bartender extraordinaire and go-to guy at The Vic Tavern, for helping make everything seamless. From setting up the space to decorating the fireplace and even capturing photos and videos of us exchanging our vows, their thoughtfulness made the moment unforgettable. The Inn itself is just as wonderful as the people who run it. The rooms are both beautiful and comfortable, offering the perfect blend of charm and relaxation. The location couldn’t be more ideal—just a short walk to the heart of Woodstock village, where everything is easily accessible. Each morning, we were treated to fabulous breakfast offerings, lovingly prepared by Heather, and we can't forget to mention the cleverly crafted cocktails at the Vic, which were a perfect complement to our evenings. We had our ceremony in a charming, eclectic space just outside the Vic Tavern, and afterward, Heather and Sawyer hosted us and our officiant for a mini reception in the Tavern. We were greeted with prosecco and great conversation, making us feel like we were celebrating with friends. If you're looking for a venue that combines charm, warmth, and personal care, The Village Inn of Woodstock is it. Thank you again to Heather, Jarret, and Sawyer for making our day so special!
Sep 29, 2024 · Paul BedardWow! If you are looking to spend some time in Woodstock, VT we have found an amazing place for you to stay! We had a delightful time with Heather (our gracious host) and her team this past weekend. The B&B exceeded our expectations in this quaint town. The home is well appointed and simply beautiful, romantic, yet comfortable. Our suite was perfect and truly felt like a home-away-from-home. Now lets talk food ....... we all know there are many options available but when do you get to sample amazing, homemade and locally prepared foods as part of your stay at a B&B? Heather's restaurant, The Vic Tavern does not disappoint! Her unique creations will have us going back for more. We had an elegant breakfast prepared for us each morning; and yes, we also dined with her for dinner as well. We were pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything tasted. Beyond her culinary expertise, fresh and local ingredients truly make a difference. Can't wait to return and THANK YOU, Heather for such an amazing weekend.
Apr 22, 2024 · Heidi GoldWe recently took a mini 3 night vacation in Woodstock VT staying at The Village Inn and could not have been more pleased. Our room, and the Inn, was charming with a New England character. Breakfast was delicious every day, made fresh with local sources. There is a tavern that is part of the Inn (The Vic) where we had an equally delicious dinner. Heather, the owner/chef/innkeeper is a delight and an amazing chef who made us comfortable throughout our stay. The Inn is a brief walk to the town center, and a short drive to many local points of interest. Overall, the best of everything, helping to make our stay in the area enjoyable. 5 stars for sure.
