Hello, fellow Tennesseans! When you're dreaming of a getaway to the beautiful Smoky Mountains, especially a place in Sevierville that promises luxury and a wealth of amenities, you naturally want to ensure your chosen accommodation lives up to its billing. "The Watering Hole" in Sevierville, TN, is a cabin rental that markets itself with impressive features aimed at providing a memorable vacation. For locals planning a staycation or welcoming out-of-state visitors, understanding the full picture of a rental property is key to a successful trip.
The Watering Hole is presented as a multi-story log cabin designed for enjoyment, featuring amenities like an indoor pool, game area, hot tub, and outdoor spaces with fire pits. Its description often emphasizes a "luxury" experience, with updated interiors and ample entertainment options. Located in the popular Sevierville area, it aims to be a convenient base for exploring the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Dollywood, and other local attractions that draw millions to our state each year.
However, it's crucial for prospective guests to be aware that customer experiences can vary significantly. While the cabin's design and advertised features sound enticing, recent feedback from guests suggests considerable issues with maintenance, cleanliness, and the overall condition of the property. This disparity between marketing and reality is an important point for anyone considering a stay. Our goal here is to provide a balanced, factual overview based on publicly available information, so you, as local users, can make the most informed decision for your Smoky Mountain retreat.
The Watering Hole is located at 1624 W Ski View Dr, Sevierville, TN 37876, USA. This address places it within the highly sought-after Sevierville area, known as a primary gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and its surrounding attractions. Sevierville, along with Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, forms the heart of East Tennessee's tourism hub, attracting countless visitors annually.
West Ski View Drive itself suggests a mountain cabin setting, typically involving winding roads characteristic of the Smoky Mountain terrain. The general area is known for its picturesque views and a sense of being "away from it all" while still being reasonably close to entertainment and dining options. Properties in this vicinity often boast convenient access to major thoroughfares like the Parkway (US-441), which connects Sevierville to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
For Tennesseans driving to the cabin, the access roads are generally paved, making the drive comfortable, though mountain driving always requires caution. The location aims to strike a balance between secluded tranquility and proximity to the region's main attractions, including Dollywood, Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies, various dinner shows, and outlet shopping. However, as noted in one review, while the general location and design might be great, the actual experience can be impacted by the property's condition upon arrival, regardless of its accessible placement.
Based on typical cabin rental listings and descriptions for "The Watering Hole," the property is advertised with a range of amenities and services designed for a comprehensive vacation experience. For Tennesseans, the allure of a cabin like "The Watering Hole" in Sevierville is undeniable. The Great Smoky Mountains region is a cherished escape, offering proximity to nature, entertainment, and a change of pace. Cabins with amenities like indoor pools, game rooms, and hot tubs promise a self-contained vacation experience that can be highly appealing for families or groups looking for a comfortable retreat without venturing too far from home. The potential for a "luxury" stay, as advertised, combined with the convenience of a fully equipped kitchen and ample space, is a major draw for local residents planning a getaway.
However, it is critical for locals to approach a booking at "The Watering Hole" with a full understanding of the recent customer feedback. While the cabin's advertised features and location are indeed highly suitable for a Smoky Mountain vacation, the numerous detailed accounts of significant maintenance, cleanliness, and functionality issues are a serious concern. These reports, citing everything from broken furniture and non-working appliances (dryer, fridge, gas fireplaces, hot tub jets/lights) to severe cleanliness problems (cobwebs, unwashed dishes, moldy coffee filters, ants) and safety hazards (broken rails, overgrown bushes around grills), paint a picture that starkly contrasts with the "luxury" branding.
For Tennesseans considering this specific property, the "suitability for locals" shifts from a blanket recommendation to one based on caution and diligent preparation. While the concept of such a cabin in this location is ideal, the execution as described by recent guests is problematic. Therefore, it is suitable for locals only if they are prepared to: 1) Thoroughly document the cabin's condition upon arrival with photos and videos, 2) Immediately contact the property management with a comprehensive list of issues, and 3) Be prepared for potential disappointment or a need for swift resolution from the management. The expectation should be tempered by the reality of past guest experiences, ensuring that your hard-earned vacation time and money are not marred by significant property deficiencies. When choosing a cabin in this vibrant region, vigilance and communication with the rental company are paramount to securing the enjoyable and luxurious stay that "The Watering Hole" purports to offer.

The smell was horrible when you walked through the front door Outside furniture was very dirty and broken Hot tub Cover was old, dry rotted, falling apart into the hot tub Dryer did not work One of the gas fireplaces was out of gas Where the grill was placed, there was bushes all around it that were very overgrown and could not even cook on the grill I called right after we got there. I was told to take pictures and send them an email of all the stuff that was wrong. I had no service whatsoever and told the lady at customer service multiple times I was using the landline in the cabin because I had no service So we had to go buy a portable gas grill They did end up cutting the bushes around the grill on Thursday The bushes behind it should’ve been cut away. It still way too dangerous to have a fire that close to the bushes. Ants were in the tub and when I say, Ants, I guarantee you, they were 50 ants in the bottom of the tub, not including on the side of it That was the master tub I sent them 77 pictures of things that was wrong with that cabin They said it’s luxury It is not There is damage to the blinds furniture that should be updated and replaced Cobwebs everywhere Housekeeper had just left before we got there could not even tell she was even there. There was no smell of any cleaner. Once upon a time, this was a very luxury cabin to stay in But that was probably 10 years ago or however, long ago they started renting this cabin out There are five wooden rails That the top part is completely off where the hot tub is The hot tub filter was so dirty I would have sprayed it out myself, but there was no water hose Pool was very cold We paid over $1900 to stay Because of the condition of everything, it was absolutely horrible And one more thing The coffee filter was not even empty Not sure how long it had been there, but it was stuck, and when I stuck I mean it was stuck Coffee filter had mold on it I have 77 pictures that I have sent to them I’m not sure if I can put them on this review But I find out how to get these pictures on there I will be posting them!!!
Jun 17, 2024 · Chasity HardinThe overall design and location of this cabin was great. However, the maintenance, upkeep, and cleaning were horrendous, especially for the amount of money it costs to rent it! There were layers of dust on everything, dishes and utensils were put back into cabinets unwashed, several pieces of trash were found under the bed and sofas. Several ballards on the banisters (designed for safety) had fallen out or were hanging on by one rusty nail! Several lamps were missing bulbs, including one in the sconce leading down to the pool area which made it extremely unsafe. We removed a bulb from a lamp and placed it in the wall sconce ourselves. The lights and half of the jets in the hot tub did not work. The heater in the bedroom did not work as it had been disconnected. The fire pit on the lower deck did not work and the fire pit on the upper deck ran out of propane on our second day. The sleeper sofa mattresses were absolute jokes and there were left over clothing from previous renters. Also, there is no game console as indicated in the pictures and description of the cabin. This is not a cabin or company we will be using again!
Nov 26, 2022 · Bridgit DDo not stay here! The pool was not heated. It was unusable at 50 degrees. The hot tub jets and lights did not work. It took 6 hours with the lid on to get the hot tub to 100 degrees. The arcade did not work. The management company knew that before we stayed and did not inform us. The shower floor was black with filth. There were two plates provided in the kitchen for a 6 person cabin. The stove heater in the bedroom didn’t work. If you want to grill outside you would have to cut the bushes to get to it. Excitement turned to disappointment quickly. An hour and a half on hold for maintenance. Three hours later no word. Another hour on hold to be told come into the office the next day and we’ll take care of your trip, a manager will be there. It was insulting to be told they couldn’t cut into the owner or their profits for a refund greater than $250. You shouldn’t profit from false advertisement! We’ve stayed at different cabins many times and loved it but this one was awful. Save yourself a lot of disappointment and stay somewhere else!
