We recently stayed at the Thornwald Mansion, and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Carlisle area. Rkia and Tom Hall, who are the owners and Innkeepers, did a great job with communication to ensure everything was ready for our arrival. They are super friendly and obviously take great pride in welcoming guests to the mansion. They met us right at the front door, gave us a nice tour of the mansion, and made great recommendations for dinner. The room was huge and well decorated; we loved the restored clawfoot tub. Breakfasts were very tasty! All in all, a great visit to the Thornwald Mansion. We look forward to visiting again soon.

The 2-acre property is enclosed by park lands with beautiful trees, walking paths, statues, ornamental hedges, and flowers, creating a serene and picturesque setting. The mansion's renovation, which began in 2011 after it had been vacant for over 30 years and suffered from an arson fire and vandalism, has meticulously restored its original charm, ensuring a fresh yet historically rich ambiance. May 06, 2025 · Eric LeydeMy wife and I absolutely loved our stay here. This will be our go to place when we come back for our Carlisle car events. The food was amazing along with the conversation during our meal. I would also like to add the fact that I felt very happy knowing our vehicle was secure behind the gates on the ground.
Apr 20, 2024 · Jerry JohnsonOne of the finest B&B's in the state with luxurious guestrooms! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had one of our best nights of sleep. We slept so soundly we almost missed breakfast! Haha. The bed was super soft and the bathroom was one of the most spacious we have ever seen. The owner was very hospitable and the breakfast was absolutely delicious! We can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was and look forward to coming again soon. ❤
Feb 07, 2018 · L SI do not recommend booking with this establishment without traveler's insurance. They require a 60-day notice of cancellation which is absolutely unheard of in 2023. At 30 days, you may get half of your deposit. I tried to cancel 24 days prior to travel (a reasonable amount of time) and was told - sorry..too late to cancel; you owe 100% of the stay. I didn't see the fine print on my Expedia booking because I would have never booked something like that if I had seen it. That's an unrealistic cancellation policy. Thank goodness for traveler's insurance!
Mar 28, 2023 · Brandi HyattAWFUL is being polite. The shower was so weak and Luke warm a bird bath was more desirable. Not to mention the drain in tub was plugged and didn’t drain. The rooms door wouldn’t lock and we had no way of securing the the door. The television, (all 21’ of it) worked sometimes The Breakfast: No options or requests, just what was put in front of us. In our case it was 2 eggs solid, rye toast and crab cakes....yes I said CRAB CAKES!! Being that my wife has a severe shell fish allergy staying here was almost a fatal decision. We are not only confused and disappointed that $325.00 per night didn’t offer more, but stunned that this so called “Bed and Breakfast” remains in business. If you speak Arabic or Persian you may have better outcomes however; we don’t recommend taking the chance. Sincerely, Gregory and Karen Wirth
