We booked an extra night and choose this place as price was convenient and it stated they had a pool and free breakfast. We got there and we were charged plus they asked for a $100 deposit. I understand deposit fees but this has been the highest deposit I’ve ever been asked for. The lady at the front desk saw our hesitation as she saw we were about to leave and suggested if we payed the deposit cash we would get it in the morning instead of waiting, we were tired so that’s what we did. Pool was descent, bugs around the corners but that’s any pool on the summer, just need to pick them up once in a while. Rooms were ok, water pressure was also descent and enough towels. The only thing was there was absolutely no breakfast as advertised. I, along other guest staying were waiting in the lobby and nobody came out, we sat for a good 30 min as we thought maybe they were just late in putting out, nope. They were in the office… so we got up and packed our bags and decided to go elsewhere. We try to stay at places that offer free breakfast to save a bit of money, never stayed at a hotel where they did not deliver on their advertised “free breakfast” will be choosing another stay elsewhere next time.
For Texans planning a trip to the vibrant city of San Antonio, finding the right place to stay can make all the difference. When it comes to convenient and budget-friendly options, the Travelodge by Wyndham often comes up as a contender. This article aims to provide a comprehensive and factual overview of what you can expect when choosing this hotel for your next San Antonio adventure, from its location to its amenities, all from a local Texas perspective.
San Antonio is a city rich in history, culture, and attractions, drawing visitors from across the state and beyond. Whether you're here for a family vacation to see the Alamo, a romantic getaway along the Riverwalk, or a business trip, having a comfortable and accessible base is key. The Travelodge by Wyndham positions itself as a practical choice for travelers seeking value without sacrificing essential comforts.
Understanding the ins and outs of a hotel before you book is crucial, especially when you're looking for a good fit for your travel style and budget. We’ll delve into the specifics of the Travelodge by Wyndham in San Antonio, offering insights into its features and services, so you can make an informed decision for your upcoming visit to the Alamo City.
The Travelodge by Wyndham is conveniently located at 3821 N PanAm Expy, San Antonio, TX 78219, USA. This address places it right off a major freeway, the N PanAm Expy, which is a significant advantage for travelers arriving by car. Its proximity to a main thoroughfare means easy access to various parts of San Antonio, making it a good base for exploring the city's many attractions.
For those driving into San Antonio, the location offers straightforward navigation upon arrival and departure. Being right off the freeway can significantly cut down on travel time when heading to popular destinations like downtown San Antonio, the Riverwalk, the historic missions, or even Six Flags Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld San Antonio, which are a bit further out but still easily reachable via the highway network.
While the direct proximity to the freeway offers excellent accessibility for drivers, it's worth noting that guests might experience some road noise due to the hotel's location. This is a common characteristic of hotels situated near major highways, and it's something light sleepers might want to consider. However, for many, the convenience of quick access to the city's arteries outweighs this potential drawback, especially if their itinerary involves frequent driving around the San Antonio area.
Public transportation options from this specific location might be more limited compared to hotels in the very heart of downtown. Therefore, having a personal vehicle or relying on ride-sharing services would likely be the most practical way to get around when staying at this Travelodge. Its placement caters well to those who prioritize easy highway access for their travels within and around San Antonio.
While specific, ongoing promotions can vary and are best confirmed directly with the hotel or via their official website, Travelodge by Wyndham, as part of the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts family, often participates in various special offers. These can include discounts for AAA members, AARP members, military personnel, or senior citizens. It is always recommended to check the Travelodge by Wyndham website or call the hotel directly at (210) 224-5114 or +1 210-224-5114 to inquire about any current promotions, package deals, or seasonal discounts that might apply to your stay. They may offer specific rates for extended stays or last-minute bookings. Remember that availability and terms for promotions can change, so direct inquiry is the most reliable way to find the best available rates and offers for your travel dates.
It's important to note that while some past advertisements might have mentioned "free breakfast," recent guest experiences suggest that this amenity may not always be consistently provided. Therefore, it's advisable to verify the current status of any breakfast offerings when making your reservation, especially if this is a key factor in your decision-making. Always confirm all advertised amenities and promotions directly with the hotel before booking to ensure they align with your expectations and travel needs.

For Texans, particularly those from other parts of the state looking to visit San Antonio, the Travelodge by Wyndham offers a practical and budget-conscious accommodation option. Its suitability for locals primarily stems from its strategic location and the value it provides, especially for those prioritizing accessibility and affordability over luxury amenities.
Firstly, the hotel's location directly off the N PanAm Expy is a significant draw for Texans traveling by car. This means easy navigation upon arrival from anywhere in the state, be it Houston, Dallas, Austin, or Corpus Christi. You can quickly get on and off the highway, minimizing time spent navigating city streets, and maximizing your time exploring San Antonio's attractions. For a weekend getaway or a family trip, this convenience can be invaluable, allowing for efficient travel to and from destinations like the Riverwalk, the historic missions, or even heading out to destinations like Natural Bridge Caverns or Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels.
Secondly, the Travelodge by Wyndham generally caters to a more budget-friendly segment of the market. For Texas families or individuals looking to stretch their travel dollar further, this hotel can be an excellent choice. The money saved on accommodation can then be allocated to experiences within San Antonio – be it dining at local Tex-Mex restaurants, enjoying attractions, or shopping for souvenirs. The inclusion of amenities like a refrigerator and microwave in rooms further aids in budget management, allowing guests to store snacks, drinks, or even prepare simple meals, reducing dining-out expenses.
While some amenities, like breakfast, might require direct confirmation, and freeway noise is a consideration, the core offerings of comfortable lodging, a pool for the hot Texas summers, and convenient parking make it a solid choice. It's a no-frills yet functional option for Texans who are familiar with the state's travel patterns and appreciate direct access to major routes. It serves as a good base for exploring San Antonio without breaking the bank, offering a straightforward and accessible place to rest after a day of enjoying all that the Alamo City has to offer. For the local Texan looking for an economical and conveniently located spot for their San Antonio visit, the Travelodge by Wyndham is certainly worth considering.

Jun 08, 2025 · Ruby BathoryIf you are a light sleeper (like me), this hotel is not for you. Right off of the freeway so all you hear all night are cars passing by. Hotel is out dated with a small pool. Room was a decent size and came with an amazingly cold fridge and microwave. The room only had one ac, for the two king bed suite, so the room by the door was hot at night making it hard to sleep. Water pressure was not great and the toilet ran all the time. We asked for more towels because my kids wanted to go to the pool, she gave us two, and said they don't have extras.
May 01, 2025 · Mary ElliottAs soon as i pulled up to the hotel i could already tell the rooms were going to be just as ugly as the outside of the hotel but decided to give it a shot anyway. Before paying for the room, i asked front desk if i could look in the room before making a final decision. First, there was a bad smell all through out the hotel. When i look in the room, it was nothing like the photos in the pictures they post up, there was a hole in the wall & a roach on the restroom floor, that was enough for me to not want to stay there so i cancelled reservation but was told by front desk i had to call booking.com to cancel & did then was told by the lady at booking.com she attempted to get ahold of the manager but left an email & manager never responded even after 24 hours. I was charged $115 for cancelling the reservation even though i cancelled same day & wasn’t satisfied with the hotel and so i tried calling to talk to the manager and was told by front desk that the manager goes to look around the property & then leaves and never goes to the front desk so i never got to speak to the manager. Very unprofessional of the manager!!!
Apr 07, 2025 · Belinda RoseThe room was extremely poor, smelly. The air-conditioning sounded like a jet taking off, the microwave kept shorting out, the fridge didn't work correctly, and the water pressure was low and luke warm at best. I had issues connecting to the internet, spoke with front desk, lady spent 20 seconds on her phone, connected...I asked did she reboot tge system, 'no'...but mysteriously I was connected. But that only worked for 30 minutes anyway. If I could have rated less than the one star I would have. Looking at previous reviews since, you mention the same thing over and over again about fixing the issues, obviously you don't care as nothing has changed. Worst hotel in the US so far in our 5 week holiday, well done. I will ever use a Travel Lodge hotel again after this experience! PS, yes, I also mentioned concerns to staff, nothing.
Apr 12, 2025 · Paul HartridgeWe stayed here to attend an event at the Alamo Bowl and the location was perfect since it was very close. However, the hotel was a different story. I will start with the area of the hotel, it was an undesirable area for starters. The hotel inside was dirty and had very dimmed lighting even at the check-in area. There was a bad stench throughout the facility that we could not seem to figure out ( sort of like molding clothing or something) and the bathroom shower curtains had stains on it. The bed sheets did not seem to be cleaned either so we did not stay due to not feeling comfortable. I wish I had dug deeper into this location before we booked. Lesson learned!
