Stayed at the Tru Hilton for 12 days on a work trip. Nice, clean, new hotel with a playful lobby. Conveniently tucked away near grocery stores, gas stations, and places to eat. My reason for a 1 star rating is because while I was at work an employee had entered my room and taken something that belonged to me. I questioned the front desk attendant immediately after noticing it went missing—he said he contacted the cleaning staff manager and they said they’ll get in touch with the employee who cleaned my room the next morning. Fast forward 20 minutes when I return to my room, the item that was taken has reappeared. I immediately lost trust and began bringing everything of value with me to work and hung the usual do not disturb sign on my door for the remainder of my stay. Nice hotel, but tread carefully. Edit: In response to the below comment, it absolutely was brought to hotel managements attention. His name was Matt.

Management's response to this was noted by the guest, indicating that the situation was brought to their attention. The hotel aims to provide a safe and secure environment for all guests, but these types of experiences highlight the importance of personal vigilance. The overall feeling, however, is one of a clean, bright, and welcoming space that is designed to make guests feel good.

Clean, bright, and overall a very happy environment. The only downside is that there aren't microwaves in the room. However, we loved everything else so much, that we would stay there again. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Long-Term Stay at Tru by Hilton Janesville = Nightmare My family and I stayed at Tru by Hilton Janesville for nearly 3.5 months while waiting to move into our new home. We called ahead and were told by Theresa there would be “no issue” with a long-term stay. That promise quickly fell apart. Instead of letting us pay the $15K upfront, Theresa repeatedly canceled and restarted our reservation to rebook at higher rates. We were told, “We can’t extend stays,” but I saw other guests do so without issue. Clearly, policies were enforced selectively — and for profit. I’m a Hilton Diamond Member for life and stay with Hilton for consistency and service. At this location, I was treated like a stranger. I was told perks like extending stays were “Diamond benefits” — even though staff clearly didn’t know who their Diamond guests were. I was even denied a cold Coke from the fridge (a small but telling detail — I’ve never been refused this at any other Hilton across the country). Then came the worst part: we were kicked out of our ADA-accessible room, which we had for my disabled mother, and shoved into a room with one full-size bed for the two of us to share. They claimed the ADA room had been booked by someone else — but when I returned later that night, the room was completely empty. Lights off. Blinds up. No guest. I have pictures. It was all about rate manipulation — not need. The next day, the assistant manager (short hair, name not given) told me to “hurry it up” as I moved luggage between rooms. When I explained we had been mistreated, her only defense was, “I’m just following orders.” The following day, we were placed back in the same ADA room we were forced out of — which further proved the switch was never necessary. I tried reaching out to Hilton Corporate for help. All I got was “send an email.” I didn’t want to file a complaint and wait — I needed help for my disabled family who was being harassed, shuffled around, and treated with zero dignity. We spent over $25,000 at this location — and somehow, a rumor spread that we were homeless and staying there for shelter. Not only is that wildly untrue, it’s offensive. And for those who may need to stay there that ARE homeless don’t deserve to be treated horribly or even remotely as terrible as we were. Earlier in our stay, I returned to my private room (with a “Do Not Disturb” sign) to find a staff member inside with the door wide open and all my personal belongings visible. The excuse? “She’s new.” That’s not acceptable — at any hotel, let alone one I’ve already spent thousands at. Nearly every morning, my disabled mother came back from the lobby in tears, panicked because she was told our card declined and we had to leave. This happened over two months straight, even though it had been made crystal clear that I and my father were managing payments and we always had the money. She was humiliated in public, for no reason other than Theresa wanted daily rates for more money / kickback and she must love torturing the elderly and disabled. Eventually, I moved us to another Hilton, where we were treated with the compassion and professionalism Hilton is supposed to stand for. But Tru by Hilton Janesville? 🚫 Unprofessional 🚫 Disrespectful to disabled guests 🚫 Discriminatory 🚫 More interested in money than people Avoid this place at all costs. We deserved better. Any family would.

Hotel is fairly new so its clean which is to be expected. But the staff is what really impressed me. Want to personally thank Theresa, Matthew, and all the staff for making feel at home for the last 2 weeks. Housekeeping really takes pride in what they do which is rare now a days. I travel year round and usually dont stay at the Tru Brand but I will definitely stay here if I ever end up in Janesville again.

Staff was super nice and accommodating, but I think we picked a bad time. My partner and I were looking for a more quiet atmosphere, but there were kids running around at like 10-11pm at night and a very loud party in the lobby. There were guests from that party talking loudly in the hallway and a group of loud adults that were still in the lobby well after midnight. Plus the rooms don't have a microwave, there is a communal microwave in the lobby that everyone shares and no vending machines. You have to buy soda and snacks from the lobby. The breakfast is phenomenal though, loved it! No sausage patties or links tho :( Overall, I don't think the hotel was my gig but it's not terrible.
