Wow; NOT A 2.5 star hotel when we stayed there in May 2025. We arrived late at night and were shown to our room by a man with bare feet. (I don’t actually have a problem with that, just letting you know as it could be quite off- putting for some guests) this was not the worst part. Dirty carpets and bathroom (the handrails in the bathroom were filthy on the underside/bottom). Dingy lighting in bathroom and minimal towels and linens. Bed was comfortable enough - to my surprise. We were told that breakfast was included; it turned out that most of it was broken (waffle maker) or “not available” Coffee was horrible- we went to a local cafe in town. If you’re looking for cheap and don’t have high standards, maybe this place could be for you. If you have higher standards, definitely let ok elsewhere. It was quiet and we did just sleep and leave asap. Hopefully it gets a full makeover soon?

For residents of Virginia, especially those in the Southwest region or traversing the I-81/I-77 corridor, the Wytheville Hotel (also known as Deluxe Inn Wytheville) presents itself as an option that balances affordability with several key amenities. While recent reviews offer a mixed perspective, understanding its specific characteristics can help locals determine if it's suitable for their travel needs.
One of the most compelling reasons for locals to consider this hotel is its value proposition. As one reviewer noted, for "$78," they received "a nice clean room, not rundown at all," and "got more than expected." This suggests that for travelers prioritizing a lower price point while still expecting fundamental comforts, this hotel can deliver. It could be particularly suitable for locals on a tight budget, such as those traveling for family emergencies, attending local events on a shoestring, or needing a quick, no-frills overnight stay.
The hotel's location is also a significant plus. Being just off the major interstates makes it an incredibly convenient stop for Virginians on long road trips across the state, saving valuable time and avoiding complex navigation. For locals exploring Wytheville's attractions, like the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre or nearby hiking trails, the hotel offers a practical base. The serene "view of the mountains and a wheat field" from the back area provides a peaceful escape, appealing to those seeking a quiet moment.
Furthermore, the pet-friendly policy is a considerable advantage for Virginia residents who travel with their dogs. The presence of a "pet park for four-legged guests" and designated outdoor areas makes it easier to accommodate furry family members, reducing stress and adding to the overall convenience of a trip. The seasonal outdoor pool and fitness center also offer recreational outlets that can enhance a family's stay, particularly for those with children looking for a place to cool off and play. The positive feedback on the politeness and kindness of the staff, especially in handling guest situations, suggests a welcoming atmosphere.
However, locals should temper their expectations and consider the varying reviews. While one guest had a very positive experience, another in May 2025 noted "dirty carpets and bathroom," "dingy lighting," and issues with breakfast offerings. The lack of an elevator for a two-story property might also be a consideration for those with mobility concerns or heavy luggage.
In conclusion, for Virginians seeking an affordable, conveniently located, and pet-friendly option with basic amenities like complimentary breakfast and a pool, the Wytheville Hotel can be a suitable choice. It's particularly well-suited for those who prioritize value and accessibility over luxury, and who understand that, like many independent properties, the experience might vary, making it advisable to confirm specific amenities and conditions directly before booking.

May 21, 2025 · Tamar Drushka HewittI went for a low price and kid friendly and got more than expected. For $78, a nice clean room, not rundown at all. Breakfast was good, lots of options for kids cereal, pancakes, waffles, eggs, sausage and all the toast, pastries and bagels. Standard food, but good quality. Staff was very polite and kind. I listened while an older woman split waffle mix everywhere and the staff was on it within seconds, polite and kind to her and cleaned it while holding a polite conversation with the lady to calm her down (she was super embarrassed at first). The pool was standard size 3ft to 5ft, pool chairs and was clean and well kept. My son and I went swimming in the morning and had the whole pool to ourselves. Birds singing in the background. What I enjoyed most was actually the back area by the parking lot, last night I went out for a smoke break and had a beautiful view of the mountains and a wheat field on one side and an almost parade of trucks lit up on the highway. The fireflies were out and it was just a peaceful view.
Jul 11, 2024 · Bria NakoI sent an email to the hotel manager to address this, however we received no response. So I am sharing my experience here instead. My husband and I were travelling down south and saw your hotel as a good quick stop. Based on the reviews it seemed like it was an easy & good idea. We called around 3am to ensure you had rooms as we knew it was late and wanted to confirm with someone. The man who answered advised there were rooms. He gave us the rate, we then asked if we should pre book he said no just come in. When we arrived at 3:40am and there was no one at the desk. We waited for about 10 -15 min and no one returned to the desk. I then looked around the corner and in the window and someone was asleep on the floor with a pillow and blanket. I banged on the door and shouted to see if they would wake up. They did not. We then called again and the same person answered and then told us no one was there to check us in until 5 am… so why did he advise that rooms were available and to come in? We called back one more time to see if the person would wake up that was sleeping in the office - unfortunately the call transferred to a guest’s room. The hotel guest was woken up by us because your front desk line somehow transferred to one of your paying guests rooms at 4am. This is very unfortunate, unsafe and a terrible experience. Incredibly disappointed by all of the situations we encountered that evening. We went down the road and got a different hotel. We will never attempt to stay at one of these hotels again.
Oct 13, 2024 · Megan MolonyPicked this hotel for a special reason and we were not let down. Normally we would by pass this one but are thankful we booked it. The place was very clean outside, inside and our room. Everything was convenient and the employees were very nice. We do travel an awful lot and we can say this hotel’s breakfast was one of the very best we have encountered. We indeed will book this hotel again in the future.
Jul 28, 2024 · Tommy LansfordThe staff was nice, when we could find them. We waited 20 minutes to check in before someone finally showed up. No one ever was at the desk when we needed them. When we checked out no one ever came. We left our keys on the desk and left. They had a room list on the counter with everyone's names and how much they paid for their rooms. I didn't appreciate that. The grass outside was littered with garbage. The outside garbage cans were overflowing and not changed while we were there. There were large bags full of garbage sitting in the stairwells so they all smelled. The rooms were surprisingly clean given all of that. The beds were very comfortable. We slept well. The breakfast was fine, nothing spectacular. The tables to eat at were dirty and the floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in a while. I wouldn't stay again but I didn't hate the experience. It was somewhere to sleep on the way to our destination. The price was cheaper than other hotels in the area, but there was definitely a reason for that.
