Beds were pretty stiff with uncomfortable pillows. The toilet was not clean when we got our room, with the toilet having stains still on it 馃あ. Our room had no bathroom door but instead had a "sliding" door that barely worked and screeched when moving it. This resulted in being able to not only hear everything happening in the bathroom, but SMELLING it too. The complimentary breakfast all looked undercooked with UNIDENTIFIED CRUMBS inside of the apple juice. I'd avoid this one.

Best Western Erie Inn & Suites Introduce

For those seeking accommodations in Erie, Pennsylvania, the Best Western Erie Inn & Suites, located at 8040 Oliver Rd, Erie, PA 16509, USA, falls within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category. As part of the Best Western brand, it typically aims to provide reliable, comfortable, and often budget-friendly lodging. However, an objective introduction must incorporate both the brand's general offerings and the specific experiences reported by guests and employees.

The environment at Best Western Erie Inn & Suites, based on detailed customer and employee feedback, raises significant concerns. While Best Western properties generally strive for a clean and inviting atmosphere, the reviews provided suggest a severe deviation from these standards. One guest reported a "toilet was not clean" with "stains still on it" upon arrival, and further described a "sliding" bathroom door that "barely worked and screeched when moving it," resulting in a lack of privacy for both sound and smell. This indicates a fundamental failure in basic room hygiene and maintenance. More alarmingly, an employee review explicitly states the presence of "bedbugs in a few different rooms" and that the hotel "don鈥檛 get around to getting rid of them for a few weeks after they鈥檙e notified." This is a critical health and safety concern that severely compromises the expected environment of a hotel. Furthermore, the physical infrastructure seems to be deteriorating, with "the ceiling is falling apart in the safety escape stairwell, blocking off that escape, between the 3rd and 2nd floor." This poses a direct and serious safety hazard. The overall picture painted is one of neglect and disrepair, which is a stark contrast to the expectations associated with searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" that would offer a safe and pleasant stay.

In terms of services, the provided information suggests significant shortcomings in both guest and employee relations. While a hotel's services should primarily focus on guest satisfaction, the employee review provides critical insights into the operational culture that can directly impact guest experience. The complimentary breakfast, a common service at Best Western properties, was described by one guest as having food that "looked undercooked with UNIDENTIFIED CRUMBS inside of the apple juice," leading them to "avoid this one." This suggests a failure in maintaining food quality and hygiene standards for a key service. From an operational standpoint, the employee review details severe issues with management, including punishing front desk agents for defending themselves, expecting off-the-clock work, and demonstrating a lack of regard for employee safety by requiring them to clean rooms with biohazards (feces, vomit, urine) without proper support or recognition of illness. The hotel also allegedly engages in unethical business practices, such as owing "Spectrum a few thousand dollars" and creating "a new account to avoid paying the bill." Furthermore, there are claims of unfair treatment of employees, including cutting hours of a mother and daughter until they couldn't afford to work there, and mishandling the termination of a night shift employee. The lack of professionalism, such as not responding to an employee's email about a Front Office Manager position, and forcing employees to work shifts over holidays despite prior arrangements, indicates a deeply troubled service culture that would inevitably trickle down to guest interactions. The neglect of basic safety measures, like not salting the parking lot in winter, leading to an employee nearly hitting a truck due to ice, further emphasizes the systemic issues impacting all aspects of service and safety.

The features of Best Western Erie Inn & Suites, typically including standard guest room amenities, are undermined by the reported issues. While a guest might expect comfortable beds and functional bathrooms, the review highlights "pretty stiff with uncomfortable pillows" and a "toilet was not clean." The "sliding" bathroom door issue also affects a fundamental feature of privacy. The complimentary breakfast, while a feature, is negatively reviewed for its quality and hygiene. The most alarming "features" revealed by the employee review are the presence of bedbugs, the structural decay in a safety escape stairwell, and the alleged financial impropriety (avoiding Spectrum payments). The review also mentions competition with "sister companies" for proper HVAC for heat in the winter, implying an inadequate and inconsistent heating system, a crucial feature for comfort, especially in a northern climate like Erie. These reported conditions paint a picture of a property that is failing to maintain even basic standards of functionality and safety, which are core features expected from any hotel within the "Hotels Near Of Me" search.

Regarding promotional information, Best Western properties typically participate in the Best Western Rewards loyalty program, offering members points and benefits. Hotels often promote their complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and convenient location. However, based on the severe issues reported in the reviews, any promotional information would need to be viewed with extreme caution. The direct phone number for Best Western Erie Inn & Suites is (814) 920-4196 or +1 814-920-4196. Potential guests would be strongly advised to conduct thorough research and consider the significant concerns raised by both customer and employee feedback before making a booking. The highly negative employee review, stating "This establishment will be going under within the next few years, guaranteed," and advising individuals to "find a better place to stay at and/or work at," serves as a very strong warning that directly impacts any promotional messaging.

In conclusion, while Best Western Erie Inn & Suites is listed under "Hotels Near Of Me" in Erie, PA, objective information from recent reviews points to severe and systemic problems across its environment, services, and features. Issues include critical cleanliness and maintenance deficiencies (dirty rooms, bedbugs, structural damage), poor food quality at breakfast, and highly unprofessional and unsafe management practices. These concerns significantly overshadow any potential positive aspects typically associated with the Best Western brand, making it a highly questionable choice for prospective guests.

I鈥檝e had the opportunity to speak with a number of past and current employees, and I can honestly say you do not want to be here, not as a guest nor as an employee. This establishment will be going under within the next few years, guaranteed. Where do I even begin? The front desk agent gets punished when they need to defend themselves in any way, and they are expected to stay, off the clock, until the next person gets there after each shift. They don鈥檛 have any regard for employee safety and have demonstrated that in multiple ways. Two employees (employee A, employee B) had to clean a room covered in feces and vomit and urine by themselves, and when they both got sick afterwards the managers told them it鈥檚 probably just allergies. They definitely don鈥檛 pay enough to be putting employees into these situations. They also decided to get rid of two employees, a mother and daughter, by cutting their hours until they couldn鈥檛 afford to keep working there. They frequently will cut hours of employees. They decided a night shift employee was fired but didn鈥檛 tell him until weeks later when they could cover themselves, which would be understandable if they hadn鈥檛 put it off for so long. The ceiling is falling apart in the safety escape stairwell, blocking off that escape, between the 3rd and 2nd floor. They have bedbugs in a few different rooms, and each time they don鈥檛 get around to getting rid of them for a few weeks after they鈥檙e notified. They owe Spectrum a few thousand dollars but are they going to pay? Nope! They made a new account to avoid paying the bill. They actually have to compete with their sister companies to see who gets proper HVAC for heat in the winter. Now for some specific incidents that affected a specific employee, and also myself. Nobody got around to salting the parking lot in the winter so when I came into the parking lot I immediately started sliding on ice, and came nearly an inch away from hitting someone鈥檚 truck. The previously mentioned Employee A was trained to do the work of a Front Office Manager, but when said employee emailed the regional manager about the position, the employee got no response at all, showing a huge lack of professionalism. Employee A also was hired for 1st shift, and for Christmas they got their shifts on 1st shift covered, but then said employee was forced to work 2nd shift instead as if they do not have a family to spend the holidays with. During the major winter storm this year, employees were expected to stay at the hotel overnight as if their job is the main source of household income (hilarious), and rooms at the sister locations were not going to be accommodated. The sister locations get favored by management, so they know this place is going under. Employee A informed the new general manager of an important upcoming medical procedure ahead of time, and when it was brought back up the manager acted as if she hadn鈥檛 already been given notice of the days that would be needed off. I could keep going, but I think I鈥檝e made my point. If you have any dignity or self respect, you鈥檒l find a better place to stay at and/or work at.

Don't fall for the "group rate." We were charged over $50 a night more than our friends who booked from the website. We tried to call a few times before our stay to speak with someone about adjusting our rates. We were never called back. Upon check in we asked again to speak to a manager but were told she would not be in until Monday and no adjustments could be made. On Monday I asked to speak to the manager and I asked about the rate. She told me she could not change it because it was booked with the Sales and Events Manager. Regardless, there was no pool even though the website says there is. There is tape over the sign that says pool and paper over the door. When I asked about the pool the desk person said it has been down for about 6 years! Guess they haven't had time to update the website. In addition, there was a tremendous amount of water damage throughout the building and in our room. The bathroom door to the room was etched cloudy glass on rollers which was difficult to move. I got stuck in the bathroom and my husband had to open it from the other side. It was so awkward, very little privacy in the bathroom. Definitely not worth the price!

I have stayed at the Best Western when it was across the street when I would come to Erie. That hotel was newer nice and clean. On March 28th I had to go to Erie for work I booked for the best Western when I arrive I asked the clerk was the best Western across the street she said yes we moved. It was not as nice. I checked in anyway. Went to bed woke up at 4am I had been bit by multiple bed bugs never again will I stay at best Western. Told staff, they were not helpful nor did they give a damn.

We stayed there 6 weeks ago and then yesterday. The rooms are nice, they're clean, breakfast was good. But the room we stayed in most recently could of used more lights, especially one at the desk. The toilet seat was to small for the toilet, and it could of had another chair to sit on. Still, we will stay there again.
