For a brief stay on a minimal budget it does the trick. If you tend to like even a half assed attempt at a sufficient effort in housekeeper doing their job, the establishment is lacking. I had to go out purchase cleaning supplies for mostly the bathroom it was comparable to a squatters house that had been used hard for years with no electricity or cleaning efforts. Mike the manager awesome dude! Oh if you need or prefer a more low key quieter room, hopefully you will have some better luck than I. All hours of day and night my next room neighbor must not have learned to use his indoor voice. Every slap , unkind word and punch was incredibly loud and obnoxious. I had reached out to the bloody broken nose double blackened eye explaining I could and would help her but got denied. So in a whole, hmmm last possibility of an option as well as much thought I perhaps stay again. There was woods with a trail I found incredibly soothing so that was a huge win!

Black Forest Inn of Adamstown Introduce

For local users in Adamstown, PA, and those searching for "Hotels Near Me" in the surrounding area, the Black Forest Inn of Adamstown presents itself as a lodging option. Located at 2828 N Reading Rd, Adamstown, PA 19501, USA, this inn can be contacted at (717) 484-4801 or via mobile at +1 717-484-4801. An objective introduction to this establishment necessitates a careful and balanced presentation of its characteristics, drawing from the provided customer reviews which offer starkly contrasting experiences and perceptions.

Environment

The Black Forest Inn of Adamstown is situated on N Reading Rd, a location that is likely accessible for travelers visiting Adamstown, known as "Antiquing'" country. The address suggests a setting that could be typical of a roadside inn, catering to those passing through or engaging in local activities. One significant positive environmental feature highlighted by a reviewer is the presence of "woods with a trail" that was found to be "incredibly soothing." This indicates that despite its roadside location, there might be natural surroundings offering opportunities for relaxation and outdoor activity, which could be a considerable advantage for certain guests. However, the internal environment, particularly concerning noise and cleanliness, is a major point of contention. One review describes a room, particularly the bathroom, as comparable "to a squatters house that had been used hard for years with no electricity or cleaning efforts," indicating a severe lack of cleanliness and maintenance. This suggests a potentially unpleasant and unsanitary internal environment. Furthermore, noise levels are a significant issue, with one guest reporting "all hours of day and night my next room neighbor must not have learned to use his indoor voice. Every slap, unkind word and punch was incredibly loud and obnoxious." This points to extremely poor sound insulation and a potentially disruptive and uncomfortable atmosphere, severely impacting peace and privacy. The mention of a "bloody broken nose double blackened eye" from a neighbor also suggests a concerning and potentially unsafe environment within the hotel, extending beyond just noise to possible personal security concerns. Therefore, while the external natural environment might offer a soothing aspect, the internal environment, particularly related to cleanliness and noise, appears to be highly problematic and potentially unsafe.

Services

The services at the Black Forest Inn of Adamstown receive mixed and often contradictory feedback. On one hand, "Mike the manager" is praised as an "awesome dude," suggesting that individual staff members can provide positive and friendly interactions. This personal touch from management can be a significant asset in a smaller inn setting. The overall service, particularly the efficiency for a brief stay, is implied by the positive comment "Efficient place 2 Stay while Antiquing'". However, the negative review severely criticizes the housekeeping services. The guest "had to go out purchase cleaning supplies for mostly the bathroom," directly stating that "the establishment is lacking" in "even a half assed attempt at a sufficient effort in housekeeper doing their job." This indicates a fundamental failure in a core hotel service: maintaining cleanliness. The need for a guest to personally clean their room is a significant detractor from the service experience. Additionally, the reviewer's attempt to offer help to a neighbor experiencing domestic violence, which was "denied," implicitly raises questions about the inn's response protocols or ability to manage such serious incidents, although this is more of a societal issue observed at the location rather than a direct hotel service failure. The presence of friendly staff is a positive, but it appears to be insufficient to compensate for the reported shortcomings in cleanliness and potential issues related to guest safety and noise management.

Features

The features of the Black Forest Inn of Adamstown are primarily characterized by their minimalist nature and, in some cases, severe deficiencies. The inn is noted as suitable for a "brief stay on a minimal budget," implying that amenities are basic and not extensive. One positive feature mentioned is the nearby "woods with a trail," providing a natural recreational outlet. However, the in-room features and maintenance are heavily criticized. The bathroom, as described, was in an appalling state, "comparable to a squatters house that had been used hard for years with no electricity or cleaning efforts," suggesting a complete lack of basic maintenance and hygiene. This implies non-functional or severely degraded bathroom facilities, a critical feature for any accommodation. The extreme noise from adjacent rooms, where "Every slap, unkind word and punch was incredibly loud and obnoxious," highlights a severe lack of soundproofing, making the rooms uncomfortable for rest and privacy. While not explicitly stated, the context of an "inn" typically suggests individual rooms, but the quality of these rooms appears to be highly questionable based on one account. The hotel provides what is necessary for a "minimal budget" stay, but the lack of basic cleanliness and the pervasive noise issues suggest that even these minimal features are often poorly executed or maintained. The absence of electricity in the bathroom, if literally true, would render basic lighting and power outlets unusable, severely compromising functionality.

Promotional Information

For users searching "Hotels Near Me," the Black Forest Inn of Adamstown's promotional appeal is heavily constrained by the highly conflicting and largely negative customer feedback. The inn can attempt to promote itself as a "minimal budget" option for short stays, potentially appealing to guests primarily focused on affordability while visiting Adamstown for "Antiquing'". The presence of "Mike the manager" as an "awesome dude" and the overall efficiency for quick stays could be highlighted. The unique feature of "woods with a trail" nearby offers a distinct attraction for nature lovers or those seeking outdoor relaxation, a selling point not often found in traditional hotels. However, any promotional efforts must contend with the severe accusations of poor housekeeping, unsanitary conditions (especially in bathrooms), pervasive noise, and implied safety concerns. The strong negative sentiment, including phrases like "stir fried crap" (from a previous review for another hotel but indicating a general dissatisfaction with very low budget lodging) and "last possibility of an option," would make any positive promotional claims difficult to sustain. Transparency about the "minimal budget" nature would be crucial, but the reported issues go beyond mere minimalism to fundamental problems with cleanliness and guest comfort. For guests prioritizing cleanliness, peace, and personal safety, the current reviews suggest this inn may not be a suitable choice despite its potentially attractive price point. Promotional messaging would need to be extremely cautious and perhaps focus solely on the location's convenience for antiquing and the manager's friendliness, while subtly implying the very basic nature of the accommodation and hoping guests overlook the more severe complaints.

Efficient place 2 Stay while Antiquing'....

We stop over here about once a week while on our journey that is work. The owner is very nice and is always making sure our needs are met. Only thing keeping back a 5-star rating is that the rooms could be cleaner. Bathrooms are not scrubbed and it shows. Other than that, we have no complaints.

holes in the bathroom door, door to the room doesn't seal so bugs come in under it, tiny fridge, poor lighting, shower randomly switches between ice cold and scalding hot, dusty shower shelves, and over all unclean. When putting stuff in the drawers we found the bottom drawer FULL of stuff that's not ours, including mail. There's a truck sitting in the lot with a boot on it. It's just thoroughly gross and sketchy. Had it not been paid for by someone else we would not have stayed.

Me and my wife stayed here place is extremely dirty two a mother and father that live her permanently let there children run around screaming constantly. There is no adult supervision. They are very dirty. Can't get towels or clean bedding. Abandoned cars and trash all over. Stray cats and a raccoon . Would not recommend to anyone place is a dump needs to be condemned. The manager is lazy and always has an excuse why things don't get done. Stay far away. Bugs bugs bugs.
