Although they no longer provide pots and pans, I would still recommend 10/10. The hot tub and pool were clean and inviting, the staff were accommodating, and my suite was huge and beautiful. It had double doors separating the sitting area from the bedroom. It would be perfect for a family.

This hotel provides a welcoming and reliable lodging experience that is well-suited for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. It’s a place where you can relax after a long day of exploring the area's lakes, forests, and local businesses. This article aims to give you a detailed and factual overview of the hotel, helping you understand its unique offerings and determine if it's the right choice for your next trip to Wautoma.

The Boarders Inn & Suites is part of the Cobblestone Hotels family, a brand known for its commitment to providing clean, comfortable, and well-maintained properties. Guests frequently praise the hotel for its beautiful, spacious suites and accommodating staff. One guest, for example, highlighted the large, well-designed suite with double doors separating the sitting and bedroom areas, noting that it would be "perfect for a family." The cleanliness of the hotel, particularly the pool and hot tub, is another point of positive feedback, which is crucial for guests prioritizing a relaxing and hygienic environment. This attention to detail contributes to a pleasant and worry-free stay for visitors.

However, it's also important to acknowledge that not every experience is perfect. One highly emotional review detailed significant issues with the front desk service and room assignments, leading to a frustrating and exhausting ordeal. This review serves as a reminder that while the hotel's amenities and physical spaces are often highly-rated, human error can sometimes impact a guest's experience. While this specific review is an outlier in its severity, it highlights the importance of effective and empathetic staff, especially in a service industry. It's an important point to consider when setting expectations, as the best-laid plans can sometimes encounter unexpected bumps.

Despite this, the overall consensus from many other guests points to a positive experience. The hotel's quiet nature, cleanliness, and value for money are often cited as reasons for a high rating. The presence of a welcoming lobby with a fireplace and the availability of amenities like a pool and hot tub are major draws, contributing to a sense of comfort and relaxation that is central to the hotel's appeal. For many, it's a reliable choice that provides everything needed for a successful trip, and this consistent performance is why many guests continue to choose this hotel.

After a painstakingly long day greiving and making backbreaking trips from a loved one's home, back and forth to a storage unit, a day filled with hard work, tears, and sadness, all I want to do is take a long shower to wash this day off of my filthy - sweat laden skin, then lay my broken body down to rest so that I can close my eyes and turn the lights out on one of the worst days of my life. However, when I turn the door handle and swing open that door, so I can finally move on from this absolute tragedy of a day, it catches on the the secondary latch and I hear a lady's voice from inside the room call out in warning to alert me that this room is occupied. In defeat, I walk to the front desk, where I wait in line for 15 minutes. The attendant at the front desks makes sure to ... Laugh at my dismay, then proceed to try and fix this... oversight.... for me. After a quick 30 minutes, she found me a room. I assured her that I did not mind what size the bed, nor how many beds there were, as long as there was a shower, and a place to sleep, I would be fine. She makes up the key, then sends me on my way. I arrived at my door, eager for some much needed rest. I slide my card and the light flashes red, indicating that this door is still locked, two more swipes, two more flashes of red before I hear an angry hollar from inside the room. I made my way back up to the front desk to explain myself, but before a single word comes out of my mouth, she stopped me to tell me that the room was occupied, but she didn't think she would get to me in time, so she assumed I would figure it out on my own, luckily she didn't program the key properly, or I could have walked right into someone's hotel room(for a second time tonight). As she started tapping on her keyboard and clicking away at her mouse, I turned and walked towards the only chance I'll have at sleep tonight, and now with only a few minutes left to finish up this day, I lay in the driver's seat of my rental Toyota Corolla, I am writing this lovely review that serves as the exclamation point to finish off this lovely day. I hope I get a refund.

We checked in our double queen room to find the floor hadn't been vacuumed, wrappers under the table, the shower head is disgusting, hair in the shower, and various stains on the bed. We went downstairs to the front desk, and they kindly moved us to the king's suite. It was cleaner, but the shower head was still really gross (lime buildup). Bed was uncomfortable and very stiff. You get two thin blankets to sleep. And a lot of the lights appear to be on their last leg, flickering when turned on. Free breakfast is okay. Only options were biscuits and gravy or waffles for warm food. Cobblestone, do your staff some justice and give this location an upgrade! Currently not worth the $106/ night charge.

We booked a reservation three weeks prior to our stay, drove 2.5 hours and found out upon arrival (4pm) that the room reserved for us had a lock on the door that did not function. We were then told that there were no other rooms available and nobody available to fix it. Chayle at the front desk was friendly but offered no solutions or guidance. Every other hotel in town was booked given its a holiday weekend so we drove the 2.5 hours back home. Had we been informed of this earlier in the day we could have made other arrangements. We’ve stayed here before and had a good experience but this was super disappointing and we won’t be back nor will we recommend this to family and friends who also frequent the area.

This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. We booked two rooms, but when we arrived at 6 PM—a full three hours after check-in time—we were told that one of the rooms wasn’t ready. We waited a bit for housekeeping and eventually received the second room. When we went up to that second room, the door was wide open and the room was completely unclean—no sheets on the beds, trash still inside, and a general mess. The cleaning staff didn’t speak English, so we had to go back to the front desk to get a different room assigned. Later, we went to use the pool and hot tub. The hot tub was scalding hot—so hot you could probably boil noodles in it. We watched multiple couples attempt to use it and leave immediately because it was dangerously hot. After the pool, one of our room keys stopped working, requiring yet another trip to the front desk. That same room also had black mold on the bathroom ceiling—completely unacceptable. The rooms were filthy overall. There were stains and marks on the walls and ceilings, hair in the tub and bathroom, and the shower made an unbearably loud whining noise when used. Hands down, the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I will absolutely never return.
