Ideal location but they rely on that and nothing else really. The place is tired looking and needs some attention. Hardly worth what they charge per night. Location is wonderful though. Just think they take advantage and charge way too much for tired old rooms. Bristol itself is charming,so stay somewhere else and spend your money in the shops versus this inn.

The ambiance of Bristol itself is often described as charming and quaint, providing a more relaxed alternative to the bustling streets of Newport, yet still rich in history and beauty. The inn's location makes it an ideal base for exploring Bristol's unique attractions and enjoying its coastal lifestyle.

Features:
The Bristol Harbor Inn is characterized by several key features:

  • Waterfront Location: Its direct position on Bristol Harbor is its most defining feature, offering unparalleled views and immediate access to waterfront activities.
  • Boutique Style: Described as a "contemporary boutique hotel," it offers a more personalized and intimate experience compared to larger chain hotels, with nautical-themed décor reflecting the area's maritime heritage.
  • Walkability: The inn's central location in downtown Bristol makes it exceptionally walkable to shops, restaurants, and local attractions, including the America's Cup Hall of Fame.
  • Pet-Friendly Policy: While not explicitly stated as pet-friendly in all current sources, some past information or general "inn" classification might imply flexibility. It is always best to confirm the current pet policy directly with the hotel if traveling with a pet, as policies can change. (Based on common practices, larger hotel chains like Holiday Inn Express often have stricter, clear-cut no-pet policies, while independent inns might be more accommodating or vary.)
  • Age of Property: Recent customer reviews indicate that the property might be "tired looking" and "showing its age," with mentions of worn carpet and wallpaper in need of replacement. Some guests have also noted issues with noise (street light, AC units) and shower pressure. This suggests that while renovations have occurred (last refurbished reportedly in 2001, but room updates ongoing), some aspects of the building may still reflect its older infrastructure.
  • No Pool: Based on available data, the Bristol Harbor Inn does not have an on-site swimming pool.

Promotional Information and Considerations:
The Bristol Harbor Inn promotes itself as an ideal New England escape, highlighting its picturesque waterfront setting and central location in charming Bristol. It appeals to travelers seeking a blend of coastal beauty, historic exploration, and a relaxed atmosphere. Promotional messaging often emphasizes the "idyllic location overlooking the Bristol Harbor and Narragansett Bay," perfect for "breathtaking sunsets."

The inn often offers direct booking benefits, such as "Lowest Rate Matching" and "Phone Only Specials," encouraging guests to book directly for the best deals. Advance purchase options might provide savings for those booking at least 21 days in advance, although these are typically non-refundable. Seasonal deposit policies also vary, with a one-night deposit usually required for stays between May 1st and October 31st.

While the location receives universal praise for being "ideal" and "wonderful," some recent guest feedback points to a perception that the inn might be "overpriced for tired old rooms" and "needs some attention." Specific complaints include street light visibility through windows, noisy air conditioning units, and low shower pressure. This suggests that while the inn offers a fantastic base from which to explore Bristol, guests should manage their expectations regarding the modernity and overall condition of the rooms, acknowledging that some elements may reflect the age of the property. The overall charm and the excellent location remain the strongest selling points, particularly for those prioritizing immediate access to Bristol's downtown and waterfront activities.

Although it is well situated in bristol , i found the hotel very old school. Front desk not very helping, street light at the windows that makes night like day, AC that sounds like a wrecking train and too few shower pressure….. not very convinced for the price

If you want to sleep at night, make sure your room is not near the street side. There’s a bar across the street that is open until 12:30/1 am. It plays REALLY loud music until closing. And people are walking by to/from the bar and you can literally hear their conversations. I travel frequently to big cities and haven’t ever had an issue sleeping in my room in nyc, Boston, etc. Not sure if the walls and windows here are not as thick but whatever reason you can hear everything going on outside. Then at 5:30 am you hear the loud beeping of the usps trucks from across the street.

There was a rocky start with their reservation system charging a higher price than advertised on a non-refundable rate, but they did fix it fairly promptly and with no hassle. The place itself was fairly adorable and if there is such a thing, the epitome of a New England Harbor Inn. I was very pleased and comfortable in the room I had. It was roomy enough, and had a mix of modern pleasantries and old harbor décor. My room was street facing corner room, and despite there being a restaurant/bar almost directly across the street, I was never bothered by any street noise. I've seen others complain about the air conditioning, and while the windows indeed do not open, the built-in air conditioner made it very comfortable for the hot June weather. The surrounding town was nice to walk around and has that classic beach feel to it. I had forgotten how much I missed the smell of salt air. There are a number of varied choices for eating within walking distance in addition to the couple of restaurants on the Inn property. There are also a lot of small shops with eclectic hours that can be fun to look at. I'll probably have reason to stay in the area again, and with the management being responsive to issues, and the charm and pleasantness of the Inn itself, I'll likely be staying here again.

This hotel is not what I would consider elegant or boutique.  The rooms are, at best, average in appointments.  The room I stayed in smelled like dirty laundry.  The heating system was very loud and difficult to control.  It was not possible to turn it off. We were initially unable to get into one of our rooms.  Three of us unsuccessfully tried to open the door.  When I went to the front desk for assistance they told us it was a known problem and you had to lift the handle.  They have the wrong lockset on the door! Parking was nearby, not adjacent as stated on the web site.
