This place was absolutely terrible. The first time I lived there it was full of roaches. The owner of the building came to my room twice to look at it and I asked multiple times for it to be fixed or I get a different room and neither happened. Had to live with roaches for a year. All of the doors are broken so anyone can come in and out. Gloria claims to have working cameras with signs stating there are cameras, but none of them work. My car was broken into and I was out of state. They never filed a report. Can’t see anything on camera. One of Glorias workers-Marcus- he called me and told me my car was broken into, but then he said “nothing was stolen” how would he know nothing was stolen? And why didn’t you file a report? I told them I was out of state and returning the following week so I could get my car towed and scrap it. 2 different people also told her that as well. When I showed up the following week, my car was gone. Gloria towed my car, without my permission or without even letting me know. I still had stuff in there from when I lived there. She had the car scrapped, with all of my clothes, shoes, athletic equipment, etc etc etc..... I asked her about it and she got defensive and made me leave the building. No communication, so unprofessional. Don’t live here!

Campus Gate hotel Introduce

For local users exploring accommodation options through "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Canandaigua, NY area, the Campus Gate Hotel, situated at 4350 Lakeshore Dr, Canandaigua, NY 14424, USA, may appear in search results. With phone numbers (585) 445-3591 and +1 585-445-3591, direct inquiries are possible. This introduction aims to provide a comprehensive and objective overview of the Campus Gate Hotel, integrating its general characteristics with publicly available customer feedback, to assist prospective guests in making informed decisions.

Environment and Location

The Campus Gate Hotel is strategically located on Lakeshore Drive, positioning it within the scenic Finger Lakes region of New York. This area is renowned for its natural beauty, particularly Canandaigua Lake, which offers diverse opportunities for water-based activities and outdoor enjoyment. The hotel's address suggests it is in a locale that would appeal to individuals seeking proximity to the lake and its surrounding attractions. As its name implies, "Campus Gate," the hotel is notably situated near the Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC). This proximity makes it a potentially convenient and practical lodging choice for students, visiting academics, or families of students attending FLCC. Its position also places it within reach of other local amenities and attractions in Canandaigua, contributing to its appeal for those looking for a base to explore the area. The setting along Lakeshore Drive suggests a more relaxed, possibly campus-oriented environment, distinct from a bustling urban hotel.

Services and Features

The Campus Gate Hotel appears to offer accommodations that can function as both short-term hotel rooms and longer-term studio apartments, as suggested by one review noting it as a "monthly studio apartment/hotel room." This flexibility could be a key feature for guests requiring extended stays, such as students or individuals on temporary assignments. According to customer feedback, the rooms are described as "clean and modern," with "kitchens" that are "small but layed out well," indicating the presence of cooking facilities which are highly valued for longer stays. Beds are noted as "comfortable" with "good quality" sheets and pillows, suggesting an emphasis on in-room comfort. The inclusion of cable television is also mentioned, though one review notes "poor picture quality." While Wi-Fi is available, its reliability is a significant point of concern, as detailed in customer reviews. The hotel's appeal seems to lean towards providing self-catering options and a more independent living arrangement, catering to guests who may not require extensive daily hotel services but prefer a home-like environment.

Understanding Customer Feedback

When considering the Campus Gate Hotel through the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, it is crucial for local users to be aware of the varied and at times highly critical customer experiences. While one review praises the cleanliness, modern aesthetics, and comfort of the rooms, another provides a starkly contrasting and deeply negative account. The most severe complaints revolve around persistent issues with pests, specifically "roaches," with claims that these problems were not adequately addressed by management despite multiple requests and even direct inspections by the owner. This is a significant health and comfort concern for any prospective guest.

Beyond pest control, a major theme of concern is security and management professionalism. A former tenant reported "broken doors" allowing unauthorized access, and a lack of functional security cameras despite signage indicating their presence. A distressing incident involved a car break-in where management allegedly failed to file a report, and later, without permission or communication, towed and scrapped the tenant's vehicle, including personal belongings. This complete lack of communication, unauthorized disposal of property, and defensive reactions from management (specifically named as "Gloria" and "Marcus") are highly unprofessional and legally problematic. The tenant's assertion that "Gloria claims to have working cameras... but none of them work" raises serious questions about the safety and accountability of the property. The overall impression from this critical review is one of "slum management," a lack of care from the owner ("Mark does not care even the slightest about his tenants"), and systemic issues with maintenance and communication.

Furthermore, the reliability of amenities is questioned, with one review stating that "the wifi does not work 2/3rds of the day and you have to pay for wifi no matter what." This contradicts the expectation of reliable internet, especially for longer-term tenants or those needing connectivity for work or study. These severe criticisms, particularly concerning safety, property management, and basic habitability, overshadow the positive comments about room aesthetics and comfort, presenting a high-risk scenario for potential guests.

Promotional Information and Value Proposition

For users on a "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, the Campus Gate Hotel's primary promotional angle would likely be its strategic location relative to FLCC and its offering of potentially budget-friendly "monthly studio apartment/hotel room" options. The positive aspects of room cleanliness, modern design, and comfortable beds could be highlighted for short-term stays, assuming those individual rooms are indeed well-maintained. The presence of kitchen facilities would also be a draw for those looking for self-catering options, especially for extended visits. However, any promotion would need to navigate the extremely negative feedback regarding pest control, security, property management, and communication. The value proposition is likely rooted in its potential affordability for a specific type of accommodation (studio apartments) in a convenient location, but prospective guests must be fully aware of the significant operational and management issues reported by others. It appears to target a niche market of individuals seeking highly economical long-term stays near the college, who might be willing to overlook considerable operational shortcomings.

Considerations for Local Users

For local users of "Hotels Near Of Me," choosing the Campus Gate Hotel requires careful consideration of the contrasting feedback. While the location near FLCC and the concept of a furnished studio apartment might seem appealing, the severe allegations of pest infestations, non-functional security measures, lack of proper communication, and highly unprofessional property management practices (including unauthorized towing and disposal of personal property) present significant risks. The positive comments about room aesthetics and comfort seem to be isolated incidents or refer to a different experience from the widespread issues reported. Guests prioritizing safety, security, professional management, and a consistent level of service should exercise extreme caution. This establishment might only be considered by individuals who are highly budget-constrained, fully aware of the reported problems, and prepared to potentially navigate significant issues during their stay. It is strongly recommended that any prospective guest thoroughly research the most current reviews and perhaps even visit the property if possible, especially for longer-term stays, to ascertain the present conditions and management responsiveness before committing to a reservation.

Room is clean and modern. Kitchen is small but layed out well. For a monthly studio apartment/hotel room it's very reasonably priced and very nice looking. Beds are comfortable and sheets and pillows are good quality. My only complaint is the poor picture quality of the included cable.

The room was filthy, there were no towels, no trash can and the TV didn't work. The shower head was broken making for a very uncomfortable shower. When I reported it to the OWNER and showed her the video of the condition of the room she blatantly refused to watch the video and said the room had be "professionally" cleaned. Don't waste you money on this dump!

stayed here overnight for a concert at CMAC. Great location for that but very expensive for what they offer. the hallways and rooms were very dirty and dusty. Room smelled. Bring your own bedding too. Bedding is provided but I didn't trust the cleanliness so I used my own.

This place is god awful. I spent one night there and to see a concert at CMAC and there was a hole in the wall in my room, and the manager tried to tell me it was the maintenance guy fault that he had just quit, how is it the maintenance guys fault you never checked the room before having me go to it, Dirty water on the floor from someone who tried to quickly clean it. Also my reservation I made months ago vanished and on top of that the Manager named Amanda did nothing to help except make smart remarks to me and my situation. I will never be staying at this place ever again and I will make sure none of the people I know go there either.
