We stayed in a non-smoking room, yet the room was reeking of cigarette smell. It was gross. Later, me and my family were leaving the hotel room for the day to go see what we can do in the area. So we left the "make my room" sign out on our door, and when came back, no housekeeping was done. We went to the front desk to complain, And the lady at the front desk was surprised at first that no one came, and then she all of a sudden made an excuse that the maids grandson fell from a building so she couldn't make it. What?! The pillows and bed weren't really comfortable. There was no clock or phone on the nightstand. The only good thing to say is the wifi wasn't bad. Wouldn't recommend staying here.
For local users Browse "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Canandaigua, NY area, The Cedar Lodge, located at 4341 Lakeshore Dr, Canandaigua, NY 14424, USA, is an establishment that may appear in search results. With phone numbers (585) 394-2800 and +1 585-394-2800, it is accessible for direct inquiries. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the hotel, combining its general characteristics with publicly available customer feedback, to help prospective guests make informed decisions.
The Cedar Lodge benefits from its location on Lakeshore Drive, placing it within the scenic Finger Lakes region. This area is a popular destination, particularly for those interested in outdoor activities and the natural beauty of Canandaigua Lake. The hotel's proximity to the lake suggests potential for easy access to water-based recreation, such as boating, fishing, and general lakeside enjoyment. Additionally, The Cedar Lodge is noted to be near the Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) Lakeshore Campus and within walking distance of the CMAC Performing Arts Center, a significant venue for concerts and events. This makes it a potentially convenient lodging option for students, faculty, or visitors attending events at these locations. Its setting along Lakeshore Drive implies it may offer a more relaxed, motel-style experience compared to larger, more urban hotel chains, fitting into the local charm of Canandaigua.
Information suggests that The Cedar Lodge provides fundamental lodging services. Publicly available data, including some online listings, indicate that certain rooms may include amenities such as kitchenettes and desks. Complimentary Wi-Fi is also mentioned as a feature, which can be a key consideration for many travelers today. Some listings also reference laundry facilities. However, specific details about other services like daily housekeeping or a dedicated 24/7 front desk service are less consistently highlighted in universally positive terms, and customer reviews provide a more nuanced picture of these aspects. It is implied that the establishment is designed for a no-frills stay, focusing on providing a basic place to sleep for travelers.
It is paramount for local users of "Hotels Near Of Me" to consider the experiences shared by previous guests when evaluating The Cedar Lodge. Several reviews online highlight significant concerns that prospective visitors should be aware of. A recurring issue raised by multiple customers is the pervasive smell of cigarette smoke, even in designated non-smoking rooms. This can be a major deterrent for guests sensitive to smoke or seeking a fresh environment. Housekeeping services have also been a point of contention, with reports of rooms not being cleaned despite "make my room" signs being displayed. Customer service at the front desk, while initially appearing surprised by complaints, has been described as offering unusual excuses, which could be frustrating for guests seeking prompt resolution.
Furthermore, comfort levels have been consistently criticized. Reviews explicitly mention uncomfortable pillows and beds, which are fundamental to a pleasant stay. The absence of basic in-room amenities like a clock or a phone on the nightstand further contributes to the impression of a minimalist and potentially inconvenient experience. A significant and alarming concern raised in customer feedback pertains to maintenance issues, with one long-term tenant describing "perverse joke" maintenance, including problems not being fixed and instances of property damage allegedly caused by maintenance staff. This same tenant also reported erroneous charges and inconsistent Wi-Fi service, despite it being a paid amenity. The overall sentiment from these critical reviews points to a management style that is perceived as neglectful of tenant and guest concerns, with one review directly stating "the owner Mark does not care even the slightest about his tenants." These detailed accounts suggest that while the location might be convenient, the internal operations and guest experience may fall significantly short of expectations for many.
Given the nature of the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, The Cedar Lodge might primarily appeal to travelers looking for a highly budget-conscious option where proximity to specific local landmarks is more important than luxury or consistent service quality. Its location near FLCC and CMAC could be a significant selling point for a particular segment of visitors. If the price point is considerably lower than other options in the area, some guests might be willing to overlook the shortcomings highlighted in reviews. However, the promotional appeal would likely need to emphasize the locational advantage rather than the in-house experience, given the feedback regarding comfort, cleanliness, and maintenance. For long-term stays, as evidenced by a multi-year tenant's experience, the issues compounded, suggesting it may not be suitable for extended accommodation despite the presence of kitchenettes in some units. Any promotional messaging would need to be carefully crafted to manage expectations, perhaps focusing on its function as a base for exploring Canandaigua, rather than a destination in itself for relaxation or comfort.
For local users utilizing "Hotels Near Of Me," deciding on The Cedar Lodge requires a careful weighing of its advantages and disadvantages. The convenience of its location near Canandaigua Lake, FLCC, and CMAC is undeniable for those with specific plans in these areas. However, the consistent and strongly negative customer reviews regarding room conditions (cigarette smell, uncomfortable beds), maintenance issues, inconsistent housekeeping, and management responsiveness are significant red flags. Guests who prioritize a clean, comfortable, and well-maintained room with reliable service, and who expect a certain level of professionalism from hotel staff, may find The Cedar Lodge to be a disappointing choice. It appears to cater to a very specific traveler profile: one who is highly price-sensitive, values location above all else, and is prepared to tolerate significant compromises on comfort, cleanliness, and service quality. Potential guests are strongly advised to read the most recent reviews thoroughly and consider whether their own priorities align with the experiences reported by previous visitors before making a booking.

Aug 11, 2017 · Kev RAbsolutely horrid establishment, I have lived there 3 years while I achieved my 2 degrees at FLCC and boy do I have stories to tell about the slum management they have hired at this place. The maintenance is a perverse joke, they hardly fix any problems and drink on the job countlessly. They do not shovel here and they will wrongly charge you for things you have not done (such as when I had to actually have their management see the football sized stain their maintenance man left on my apartment floor). On top of all of this the wifi does not work 2/3rds of the day and you have to pay for wifi no matter what. Altogether, go with any other place, and if you do choose this establishment, just remember their slumminess and please do recall what they have done to former tenants. THIS PLACE IS AN ABSOLUTE 1/10 AND I CANNOT WAIT TO BE GRADUATING, THE OWNER MARK DOES NOT CARE EVEN THE SLIGHTEST ABOUT HIS TENANTS AND I BELIEVE THAT IS JUST WRONG.
Apr 18, 2017 · TheDrumphilBare minimum of service offered. No vending machines in the property. There isn't even an ice machine. You get a bed, lamp and night stand, card table, computer stand and armoire with two drawers, along with refrigerator, stove and microwave. Wifi service is non-existent. WalMart is within walking distance, if you don't mind trying to walk across a four lane highway. I called to ask if they provided shampoo and conditioner. Was told that they did, yet what they left for me was a "conditioning shampoo", and lotion with an odd odor. I thought that since it is used as a motel type facility, there would be a telephone in the room and tissues and coffee provided. WRONG. While I laying down waiting for the other people in the party to get ready for the activity of the day, someone knocked on my door and before j hit a chance to answer the door, she had the key in the door and was coming in the room. No housekeeping was done, they didn't even replace the towels. This was not the type of facility that I was expecting. Would not suggest this place to anyone not in the area for school. At least they will be bringing all their supplies with them.
Jul 16, 2016 · karen ellisNot quite what we had hoped for. The room smelled like smoke even though it was a non-smoking room, the remote was missing so no access to the TV, no access to wifi (3 codes we were given didn't work) and the room rmthey moved us to (still smelled like smoke) they couldn't find the key to so we had to to contact someone to be let in.
Aug 20, 2018 · Jody PupeckiThe 2 stars are for price and location. You can't get any closer to CMAC without paying a premium. The room was clean but run down, lights burned out etc. No double lock on door. If you are on a budget you can deal with the stuff. I won't stay again
