This place was so disgusting that I checked out an hour after checking in. First of all, the hallway smelled very strongly of food mixed with mold. Then when I walked into the room, i saw old dried food stains on the tables, chipped paint, creaky floors, loud bed that was as hard as a rock. I called several family members to decipher whether I should stay, especially given their prices were cheap. I ended up calling other hotels in the area and spending $350 to stay at another place last minute. The price was not worth it for me. Did not get a refund by the way.

Capital Inn & Suites Introduce

For individuals in search of "Hotels Near Me" in Rensselaer, NY, Capital Inn & Suites, located at 110 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, NY 12144, USA, presents itself as an option. With phone contact at (518) 472-1360 or mobile at +1 518-472-1360, this establishment aims to provide accommodation for various travelers.

Based on publicly available information and customer reviews, it's essential to provide an objective and detailed introduction to Capital Inn & Suites, considering both its advertised features and the experiences of previous guests. The hotel is positioned as a budget-friendly option, with prices often noted as being on the lower end compared to other hotels in the Albany/Rensselaer area. This can be a primary draw for travelers prioritizing cost savings.

Regarding its environment and services, Capital Inn & Suites is situated on Columbia Turnpike, offering a degree of accessibility to Rensselaer and nearby Albany. The hotel states it provides a 24-hour front desk, which can be beneficial for late check-ins or any immediate assistance needed by guests. Free self-parking is available on-site, a convenient feature for those traveling by car. For guests with pets, the hotel is pet-friendly, though an extra charge of USD 20 per pet, per night applies, with service animals being exempt from fees. This pet policy can be a significant advantage for pet owners searching for accommodations.

The hotel's features include air-conditioned rooms, which are equipped with amenities such as refrigerators and microwaves. Complimentary wireless internet access (Wi-Fi) is available in all rooms, along with cable television for entertainment. Private bathrooms come with showers and complimentary toiletries. Some sources also mention the availability of hair dryers in bathrooms. For families, rollaway/extra beds are reportedly available for a fee, and cribs/infant beds may also be offered. The hotel has 51 rooms spread over two floors and includes various room types such as King Rooms, Queen Rooms, Double Rooms, and King Suites, some of which may offer a spa bath.

The information also indicates that the hotel offers a complimentary continental breakfast, providing guests with a convenient start to their day. Guest laundry facilities are reportedly available on the premises. The hotel is positioned as being within close proximity to downtown Albany, approximately 2 miles away, and about 1.5 miles from the Albany-Rensselaer Train Station, which could be appealing for those relying on public transport or visiting Albany's attractions like the MVP Arena, Albany Medical Center, and the New York State Museum. Major highways such as I-87 and I-90 are also within a few miles, offering easy access for commuters.

However, an objective introduction must also address the significant concerns raised by numerous customer reviews, which paint a less favorable picture of the hotel's actual condition and guest experience. Multiple reviews highlight issues that prospective guests should be fully aware of before booking. Common complaints revolve around the general cleanliness and maintenance of the property. Guests have reported pervasive foul odors, described as a mix of food and mold, in hallways and rooms. Dried food stains on tables, chipped paint, creaky floors, and hard, lumpy beds are frequently mentioned, suggesting a need for substantial renovation and upkeep. Some reviews even describe the rooms as "disgusting" and "extremely dirty," with stained linens, soiled furniture, and dirty carpets.

Beyond cleanliness, the structural integrity and functionality of amenities have also been called into question. Reports include broken fixtures, non-functional or missing amenities such as hair dryers, ice machines, and working electrical outlets. Some guests have expressed safety concerns due to unsecured entry points, easily opened doors, damaged locking mechanisms, and the presence of suspicious individuals or long-term residents loitering around the property. The general environment has been described by some as "sketchy" or "an absolute dump," leading some guests to check out shortly after arrival and seek alternative accommodation despite losing their payment.

Furthermore, one review explicitly states that the hotel is "primarily for the homeless population," suggesting that the guest demographic might be different from what some leisure or business travelers might expect from a typical hotel. This observation, while not directly addressed by the hotel's general descriptions, provides context for the environment and overall guest experience as perceived by some visitors.

In terms of promotional information, the primary allure of Capital Inn & Suites appears to be its relatively low price point. While this might initially seem attractive, the feedback from guests strongly suggests that the cost savings may come at a significant expense to comfort, cleanliness, and overall satisfaction. The hotel's 2-star rating on various platforms often correlates with these lower prices, but the consistency and severity of negative reviews across multiple platforms indicate a gap between advertised facilities and actual guest experiences. While some reviews mention that the staff was "nice," this positive aspect of service is often overshadowed by the overwhelming negative feedback regarding the physical condition of the property.

Therefore, for local users searching "Hotels Near Me" and considering Capital Inn & Suites, it is crucial to weigh the perceived affordability against the consistently reported issues with cleanliness, room quality, and overall environment. While it offers basic amenities like free Wi-Fi, parking, and in-room refrigerators and microwaves, the extensive negative feedback concerning the hotel's condition warrants careful consideration. Travelers seeking a comfortable and clean stay might find the low price not "worth it," as one reviewer explicitly stated, and may need to factor in potential additional costs if they decide to seek alternative accommodation.

Staff was nice. I didn’t know until days later that it was primarily for the homeless population. Rooms were what you’d expect for that kind of population.

Meh, Room's size was good, and the bathroom shelf was spotty and old. We put bathroom towels all over the floor cause we did not trust the cleanliness.
