This hotel is interesting. The location is around a bunch of abandon buildings and VERY close to the highway. Walking distance to MVP arena. The hotel has no outdoor signage. Was a previous Holiday Inn Express. Room and bed was nice and updated but the heater on the wall didn’t work so you couldn’t control the heat. The TV channels didn’t work accurately either. There was a huge area with a ton of tables and chairs in the back of the lobby but only coffee offered (no food or snacks). The coffee area wasn’t cleaned off any of the 3 mornings I was there. However my room was cleaned each day. Again, weird experience, but if you are looking for a budget friendly option, it works

The Albany Hotel Introduce

The Albany Hotel presents itself as a straightforward and budget-friendly accommodation choice in Albany, New York. Situated at 300 Broadway, Albany, NY 12207, USA, this hotel caters to local users searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" who prioritize affordability and convenient access to key downtown locations, even if it comes with a few distinctive quirks. Formerly a Holiday Inn Express, the hotel retains some of the familiar structural elements while operating under its new identity.

Environment and Location: A Blend of Accessibility and Urban Realities

The hotel's location on Broadway places it fairly near downtown Albany, offering practical access to some significant city points. A notable advantage is its walking distance to the MVP Arena (formerly Times Union Center), making it a convenient base for those attending concerts, sporting events, or conventions. Its proximity to the highway is also a plus for travelers arriving by car, ensuring easy ingress and egress from the city. However, the immediate environment around the hotel is described as "around a bunch of abandoned buildings" and "VERY close to the highway," which might not present the most picturesque setting. The lack of outdoor signage, causing it to be somewhat inconspicuous, is another unique characteristic that guests should be aware of upon arrival. Despite these less appealing aspects of its immediate surroundings, its function as a budget-friendly option providing easy access to specific downtown attractions remains a key selling point for those prioritizing location over ambiance.

Services and Amenities: Functional Offerings with Room for Improvement

The Albany Hotel provides essential services and amenities, focusing on functional comfort rather than extensive luxury. The staff are consistently praised as "friendly and helpful," indicating a strong commitment to guest satisfaction despite any operational challenges. A "reasonable range of well cooked food for breakfast" is available, suggesting a more substantial offering than just continental fare, which is a significant value add for a budget hotel. However, a review noted that the coffee area in the lobby was not cleaned over a three-day stay, and that only coffee was offered in a large common area, with "no food or snacks." This suggests some inconsistencies in common area maintenance and amenity provision. While rooms are cleaned daily, which is a positive, the common areas might not always reflect the same level of attention. For communication, the hotel's phone numbers are (518) 207-0476 and +1 518-207-0476. The hotel does not explicitly mention amenities such as a fitness center, business center, or pool, which are often found in higher-tier hotels, aligning with its budget-friendly positioning.

Features: Updated Rooms with Some Operational Quirks

The Albany Hotel, being a former Holiday Inn Express, likely benefits from a relatively modern structure, and indeed, guest reviews confirm that the "room and bed was nice and updated." The beds are described as comfortable, which is a crucial aspect of any hotel stay. However, guests have reported some operational quirks, such as the wall heater not working, preventing control over room temperature, and TV channels not functioning accurately. This suggests that while the rooms have been updated aesthetically, there might be some maintenance issues with specific in-room systems. The presence of a large common area with tables and chairs in the back of the lobby, despite a limited offering of coffee and no food, hints at potential for future amenity expansion or simply a design choice for social interaction. The lack of outdoor signage is a distinctive feature, requiring guests to be attentive when locating the building. Despite these "weird experiences" as described by one guest, the rooms themselves generally provide a comfortable and clean space, which is a fundamental expectation for any hotel. The emphasis on "good value" highlights that for the price point, the functional aspects of the room and the core services are deemed acceptable by guests.

Promotional Information and Booking: A Value-Oriented Stay in Albany

The Albany Hotel positions itself as a strong contender for travelers looking for an affordable yet comfortable stay in Albany. For local users seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" with budget constraints, this hotel offers a practical solution. It is advisable to book directly via phone at (518) 207-0476 or +1 518-207-0476, or through popular online travel agencies, to find the best available rates. Given the feedback, guests should manage their expectations regarding common area amenities and be prepared for potential minor issues with in-room climate control or entertainment systems. However, the consistent praise for friendly staff and the comfort of the updated rooms suggest that for its price point, The Albany Hotel delivers on its promise of good value. It serves as a pragmatic choice for individuals or groups prioritizing proximity to the MVP Arena, easy highway access, and a cost-effective stay in the Albany area. While it may not offer all the luxuries of a higher-tier hotel, its core offerings of a clean, updated room and a decent breakfast, coupled with helpful staff, make it a viable option for a no-frills yet comfortable visit to Albany.

It's a great hotel fairly near downtown. Good value with friendly and helpful staff. A reasonable range of well cooked food for breakfast.

The view was decent from our room, and the window had a little perch to sit on that could even fit someone 6’2”. The area was right off of the highway so it wasn’t the cleanest outside of the hotel when you leave the parking lot, but the hotel itself was very clean. It was a short 10 minute walk to empire live and a lot of good restaurants and other cool spots. The bed was very nice as well as the bathroom. Only weird thing were some ants the came out of the cracks of the shower, but it wasn’t an obscene amount. 5 at most at a time. (I think ants are cool anyway, others might not I suppose) I would definitely come back, great price great stay. Also free parking here!

I just went in to use restrooms. Most hotels allow you to use restrooms, and the front counter guy refused to listen to my request and just sent me out. I could've been a customer, but he wouldn't know that because I couldn't even come into the building.
