Great location. Accommodations on the other hand if I could give it a zero I would. We were in the trailer. The water wasn't on to start no biggie. There was a mysterious stain on the bathroom floor that was either blood or feces that went up on the toilet. There was mold and one night we had a light on and came back to our trailer SWARMED with mayflys. Thankfully our family was with us so we could stay elsewhere for the night. We had to throw out food bc mice bit through it. We understand bugs and mice come with the outdoors but this is a bit much. The other cabins had disgusting bathrooms, exposed wires, mice, and missing bed linens. My family has been coming here for years and this was quite honestly the most disgusting conditions we have seen it in.

Cedar Cove Resort Introduce

For many Wisconsin residents, a trip to the Northwoods is an annual tradition. The region's tranquil lakes and dense forests offer a perfect escape from the stresses of daily life. In the heart of this cherished vacation land is Birchwood, a community surrounded by beautiful lakes, including the expansive Red Cedar Lake. It is here that Cedar Cove Resort is located, a property that has hosted guests for many years. However, when considering a place to stay, it is important to have a complete and factual picture of what to expect. This article aims to provide an honest overview of Cedar Cove Resort, based on publicly available information and real customer experiences.

Cedar Cove Resort has a long history, with a location that is often praised by visitors. The resort’s cabins are situated in a serene setting that is quintessential Wisconsin Northwoods. The resort’s physical presence next to Waldo Carlson Park is a key landmark for finding it, making it accessible to those who know the area. While some external photos of the cabins and grounds might appear appealing, recent feedback from customers suggests that a closer look is necessary to fully understand the current state of the accommodations. Customer reviews highlight a stark contrast between the resort’s beautiful location and the condition of some of the cabins and trailers. This article will delve into the details of these reviews, helping potential visitors make an informed decision.

For locals in Wisconsin, Cedar Cove Resort represents a potential option for a getaway that is close to home. It is a place that has been a part of the local community for a long time, and some families have a history of visiting it. However, the most recent customer feedback suggests that the property may be experiencing a period of neglect and may not meet the expectations of modern travelers. This information is crucial for locals who are looking to host out-of-town guests or plan a special family vacation. Providing a clear and factual account, even when it is not entirely positive, is essential for maintaining trust and helping people make the best choice for their needs.

Cedar Cove Resort is located at 2924 27 3/16 St, Birchwood, WI 54817, USA. This address places it in a scenic area of Barron County, specifically on the shores of Red Cedar Lake. The location is a significant advantage, as it offers direct access to the lake and the natural beauty of the surrounding Northwoods. The resort’s entrance is noted to be next to and just north of Waldo Carlson Park, which can be a helpful landmark for finding the property. The accessibility to the lake is a major draw for guests interested in fishing, boating, and other water-based activities. The resort's location provides a tranquil and natural setting, perfect for those who want to be close to nature. However, it is important to remember that this is a rural area, and travelers should be prepared for the typical rustic and natural environment that comes with a Northwoods getaway, including the presence of insects and wildlife.

The services offered at Cedar Cove Resort are centered around providing a classic Wisconsin Northwoods cabin experience. The primary offering is the rental of cabins and trailers for lodging, which are self-sufficient units designed for an extended stay. A key element of this type of resort is the ability for guests to handle their own needs, such as cooking and cleaning, in a cabin environment.

Based on the provided information, the services can be summarized as follows:

  • The resort provides cabins and a trailer for accommodation, which are intended to offer a rustic lodging experience.
  • The accommodations are set up for self-sufficiency, meaning guests can prepare their own meals and manage their own spaces.
  • The location offers access to the lake, which would typically imply opportunities for fishing, boating, and other water activities.
  • The grounds are noted to be good, suggesting that the outdoor spaces are maintained for guest use, though the cabins themselves may not be.
  • The resort has been in operation for many years, indicating a long-standing presence in the community.

It is important for potential guests to understand that this resort offers a very traditional, no-frills experience. Based on recent reviews, guests should arrive prepared to handle basic needs and potential issues, as the level of on-site service and maintenance may be limited.

The features and highlights of Cedar Cove Resort are heavily tied to its location and traditional resort style. The resort's best feature, as noted by visitors, is its setting.

Key features and highlights include:

  • The great location on Red Cedar Lake is the most significant highlight. This gives guests beautiful views and direct access to the water, which is a major draw for a Northwoods vacation.
  • The cabins, from the outside, look nice and contribute to the rustic, woodsy aesthetic that many people seek in this region. This is a point that even critical reviewers noted.
  • The grounds are generally considered to be well-kept, offering a pleasant outdoor environment. This includes the natural surroundings near the lake.
  • The resort has a long history and is a known part of the local landscape, with some families having a tradition of visiting for years.
  • For those who enjoy a true “rustic” experience, the resort might appeal to a specific type of visitor who prioritizes location over modern amenities and pristine conditions.

However, it is impossible to discuss the features of this resort without also acknowledging the serious concerns raised in recent reviews. These highlight issues such as uncleanliness, mold, insect infestations, mice, and exposed wiring. These are critical factors that any potential visitor, especially a local, must consider before making a reservation. The discrepancy between the resort’s beautiful location and the condition of the accommodations is a crucial point for anyone evaluating their options.

For those who want to reach out to the resort to inquire about a stay, the contact information is as follows:

Address: 2924 27 3/16 St, Birchwood, WI 54817, USA

Phone: (715) 235-5008

Mobile Phone: +1 715-235-5008

Potential guests should use this contact information to ask specific questions about the cabins, including their condition, amenities, and any recent renovations, to ensure their expectations align with what the resort can provide. Direct communication is the best way to get up-to-date information before booking a trip.

In conclusion, Cedar Cove Resort is a known entity in the Birchwood area, offering a prime location for a classic Northwoods getaway. For Wisconsin residents, it represents a lodging option in a beautiful part of the state, particularly for those who prioritize location and a rustic setting. However, based on recent customer reviews, it is essential for locals and visitors alike to approach this option with caution. While the setting is beautiful, the reported condition of the cabins and the overall cleanliness and maintenance may not meet the expectations of all travelers.

For a local planning a trip or hosting family, it is important to weigh the value of the resort's location against the potential for an uncomfortable stay. For a true Northwoods experience, there are many other options in the area that offer both a great location and a higher standard of cleanliness and maintenance. A local might choose Cedar Cove for its proximity and historical connection to the area, but should do so with a clear understanding of the risks involved. It is a place that may be better suited for a specific type of traveler who is willing to overlook significant cleanliness and maintenance issues in favor of a picturesque lakeside location.

Review Readers Beware – I don’t know how nine people could possibly give this place mostly 5 star reviews. And yes I went to the same place; its entrance road is right next to and North of Waldo Carlson Park, Barron County. The cabin outside photos look the same and it is the only “resort” in that area. The Honey and I stopped here in mid May to see what Cedar Cove Resort was like and looking to make a reservation for mid June. No one was occupying the cabins. I suspect they had not opened for the year yet. The cabins look nice from the outside and the grounds were good for not being open yet. Two of the cabins were not locked so we took a look inside. In recalling our visit she said, “OMG ! I almost barfed.” On one enclosed porch overlooking the lake there were several pieces of very dirty, old, upholstered furniture. The whole place stunk like mold when it was 55 degrees out – I can’t imagine what it would be like in the heat and humidity of summer. Overall they were falling apart inside and trashy looking, a dump – circa 1930, without much maintenance. We were not looking for anything fancy, rustic would have been ok but I would not have stayed here if it was the only place on the lake. They may have other cabins not like this but what I saw was horrible.

This place has a magic attraction that has drawn me back for some 34 years now. Its a experience that soon turns into a memory that in this "hustle and bustle" world, I find quite comforting. You'd have to experience it for yourself to fully appreciate it. Its not for everyone, but I couldn't imagine a place I'd rather spend my vacation.

Mice, mold, mayflys. three words that summarize this place. Health department should be called and the place be condemned.

Admittedly biased, but this is hard to beat for classic resort character on a perfect lake with great fishing
