In checking in, we informed the young man we would be checking in three rooms in the block of rooms reserved for our Company. We were asked for IDs , asked if we were rooming together, when again I informed him we were rooming together (the 2 of us) but we would need to get three rooms for the others in our party. Completely ignored and given just our keys. Our other members in our party (1 guy & 1 girl) came in and told him they would be rooming separate. They were given 1 set of keys. Again, completely ignored. Place does not live up to Clarion Standards or Expectations at all. Run down and trashy looking from the outside. They you walk in, the hallways and corridors were disgusting with stains everywhere. Corridors coming in reeked of Marijuana and Feces. Everywhere you walked inside also reeked of weed. Ice machine had 5 box springs stored beside it. Inside the room were several cracks in the ceilings and walls covered by a completely different color of paint. Sheets had stains and holes all over them. This morning we saw an obvious Cockroach in the disgustingly dirty shower/tub and in the room by the microwave. If your standards are 1 star to Hostel, the. Stay here. If you expect better from any place ESPECIALLY A Clarion, then I would not waste your money or time. Had this not been a corporate paid for stay. I would of demanded refunds and left. If I could leave less than a star I would

Clarion Inn Introduce

For local users and travelers searching "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania area, the Clarion Inn at 827 Finley Rd, Belle Vernon, PA 15012, USA, presents a practical accommodation option. As a Choice Hotels brand, Clarion Inns typically aim to offer a higher level of amenities than economy brands, catering to both business and leisure travelers. You can contact them directly at (724) 243-2154 or +1 724-243-2154 for reservations and inquiries.

Environment: Strategic Location with Mixed Impressions

The Clarion Inn in Belle Vernon is conveniently located off Interstate 70, making it an accessible stop for travelers passing through Southwestern Pennsylvania. This strategic position places it within reach of various local attractions, including Cedar Creek Park, Rostraver Township Hall, and the Youghiogheny River, and within a reasonable driving distance to Pittsburgh attractions like the Carnegie Science Center and The Andy Warhol Museum. The hotel is situated in a commercial area, offering practical access to amenities and dining options. However, guest reviews paint a mixed picture of the physical environment. While some aspects of its location are beneficial for travel, the exterior and interior common areas have received critical feedback. One review described the outside as "run down and trashy looking," and noted "disgusting" hallways and corridors with stains, reeking of unpleasant odors such as marijuana and feces. This suggests that while the location is convenient, the immediate physical environment may not always meet expectations for cleanliness and upkeep, which is an important consideration for potential guests. The hotel is also noted to be undergoing renovations, meaning some facilities may be newer while others are older, contributing to varied guest experiences. It is a 100% smoke-free property within the building.

Services: Variable Guest Experiences and Standard Offerings

The service quality at Clarion Inn Belle Vernon appears to be variable, with some aspects receiving positive comments while others are heavily criticized. On the positive side, some guests have praised the staff for being friendly and helpful, with one reviewer specifically noting "the ladies who I met that work there are very sweet." However, a detailed review highlighted issues with front desk efficiency and attentiveness, where a request for multiple rooms for a corporate party was "completely ignored," leading to frustration and inconvenience for the guests. This suggests that while individual staff members may be courteous, consistent service delivery might be an area for improvement. The hotel generally offers standard services expected of a Clarion brand:

  • 24-Hour Front Desk: Guests can expect round-the-clock assistance for check-in, check-out, and any needs during their stay. Note that some sources indicate "limited hours" for the front desk, so it's advisable to confirm if arriving late.
  • Complimentary Breakfast: A free continental breakfast is typically served daily, often from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM. This provides a convenient start to the day. However, some reviews indicate that guests were disappointed by the lack of complimentary breakfast or felt it was not truly free, suggesting variations in offering or guest perception.
  • Free Wi-Fi: Complimentary high-speed wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel, including all guest rooms and public areas, ensuring guests can stay connected. Some guests have reported issues with Wi-Fi service, so having a backup plan for internet connectivity may be advisable.
  • Pet-Friendly Policy: The hotel welcomes pets (dogs specifically mentioned), typically with a charge per pet per night (e.g., $25 per pet, per night) and a limit on the number and weight of pets (e.g., 2 pets up to 100 lbs). A refundable $150 deposit may also be required. Service animals are exempt from fees.
  • Free Parking: Ample free self-parking is offered on-site, including space for RV/bus/truck parking.
  • Business Center: A business center is provided for guests needing computer access or printing.
  • Room Service: Room service may be available for dining convenience.
  • Laundry Facilities: Dry cleaning/laundry services and self-serve laundry facilities are generally available.

Concerns regarding cleanliness and unpleasant odors, as described in guest reviews (e.g., "reeked of Marijuana and Feces," "heavy musty smell since their flood issue," "smelled like a barn since they allow animals in there"), indicate significant issues with property maintenance and hygiene, which directly impact guest comfort and satisfaction despite staff efforts. The presence of "burn marks," "paper crumbs," "stains on the bedding and chair," "cobwebs and dust," and even "an obvious Cockroach" in rooms suggests serious housekeeping deficiencies that would lead many guests to question the overall value and comfort of their stay. It is important for guests to be aware of these potential issues and to communicate any concerns to the front desk promptly upon arrival.

Features: Basic Amenities with Maintenance Concerns

The Clarion Inn Belle Vernon offers a range of features typically associated with the brand, designed to provide a comfortable, albeit sometimes basic, stay. These include:

  • Guest Rooms: The hotel features 78 guest rooms, equipped with essential amenities for a comfortable stay. Each room typically includes air conditioning, a flat-screen TV (often 32-inch) with cable channels, a coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, in-room safe, desk, iron and ironing board, and a private bathroom with a shower/tub combination and hairdryer. Bed sheets are provided. Connecting/adjoining rooms can be requested, subject to availability. However, guest reviews mention issues like "cracks in the ceilings and walls covered by a completely different color of paint," "sheets had stains and holes all over them," and general dirtiness, indicating significant maintenance and cleanliness problems within the rooms. The mention of "small squares, like the decorative ones on a couch" for pillows further highlights a mismatch between guest expectations and provided comfort.
  • Seasonal Outdoor Pool: The hotel features a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, typically open from June to August, providing a recreational option during warmer months. Pool access hours are generally from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
  • Fitness Center: A fitness center or gym is available for guests to maintain their workout routines.
  • On-Site Restaurant/Bar: The hotel is listed as having an on-site restaurant and a bar/lounge, offering dining and beverage options without leaving the property. However, one review noted that the restaurant was closed during their stay, which can be a disappointment for guests planning to dine on-site. The lounge/bar hours are typically from 4 PM to 11 PM.
  • Meeting and Banquet Facilities: The hotel offers meeting space (e.g., 2700 sq ft, with rooms like 'Finley A' being 720 sq ft) and a banquet hall (holding up to 177 people), making it suitable for corporate events or social gatherings.
  • Elevator: The property has an elevator, providing easy access to all floors.
  • Safety Features: The hotel is equipped with safety features such as a carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and first aid kit.
  • Accessibility: The hotel offers facilities for disabled guests, including wheelchair accessibility in certain areas and rooms, and wheelchair-accessible parking and registration desk, along with braille/raised signage and wheelchair-accessible paths of travel.

The detailed negative reviews regarding cleanliness and maintenance, such as "trash under the bed skirt," a "half drank water bottle next to the couch," a "Jimmy Dean breakfast bowl in my freezer still," and concerns about "bugs" (specifically a "Cockroach"), suggest a severe lack of attention to detail and standard upkeep, falling short of what is expected from a Clarion property. It's also noted that the hotel may have long-term residents, which can influence the atmosphere and upkeep.

Promotional Information and Special Notes:

As a Choice Hotels property, Clarion Inn Belle Vernon participates in the Choice Privileges Rewards program, allowing guests to earn points for stays and enjoy exclusive benefits. Travelers can often find promotional offers, seasonal discounts, and package deals by checking the official Choice Hotels website or contacting the hotel directly. Typical check-in time is 3:00 PM (with check-in ending at 3:00 AM), and check-out is 11:00 AM. Late check-out may be available upon request and subject to availability. A minimum check-in age of 18 is usually required, and a credit card is necessary for payment. Children up to 18 years old can stay for free when using existing beds in a parent or guardian's room. Rollaway/extra beds and cribs are generally not available. Given the strong negative feedback regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and unpleasant odors, prospective guests searching "Hotels Near Of Me" are strongly advised to consider these reviews. While the hotel offers essential amenities and a convenient location, the reported issues with hygiene and maintenance mean that guests should temper their expectations and potentially inspect their room thoroughly upon arrival. For corporate-paid stays, as one reviewer mentioned, guests might be compelled to stay, but for individual leisure travel where flexibility is possible, these factors are significant considerations, potentially leading guests to explore alternative accommodations in the Belle Vernon area, such as Comfort Inn Belle Vernon, Hampton Inn Belle Vernon, or Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott Belle Vernon, which generally receive higher cleanliness ratings.

It's not as clean as my first stay, there's a heavy musty smell since their flood issue, I found trash under the bed skirt, including a half drank water bottle next to the couch and there was something hanging on the sprinkler. There was a Jimmy Dean breakfast bowl in my freezer still. The ladies who I met that work there are very sweet but the place needs some better help as far as housekeeping and maintenance, and they need to fix the downstairs hall and do some deep cleaning upstairs, that smelled like a barn since they allow animals in there. The rooms are spacey and the bed was nice despite all that I've noticed my last couple stays, but I don't think I'll plan to use this place as a place to crash anymore anytime soon unless there's some updates. There's no bugs, and the showers are nice. Overall its a decent place but they need some help and some money.

About what you'd expect for the price but on the dirtier side of expectations. I'll start with the good: Our room faced the highway side and yet was very quiet. Comfortable beds. Sort of updated bedroom area. Very dark and very cold (it's 90*). Nicer than anticipated continental breakfast. Common bathroom is updated and nice. The not so good: The hallways are NOT updated. From the early 80s at best and peeling wallpaper. Dingy feel. The room's bathroom is gross. Mildew all over the tub, and gunk in the corners of the floor. In spite of the cold room, there is a mildew smell permeating. Common bathroom is very humid. This really bugs me: exterior doors are propped open. Very concerning since the workout area also is not secured. This could be really nice with a little more investment.

When we arrived at the Clarion Inn, we were greeted very warmly at the reception. We managed to book last minute at a very affordable price. The room was clean, well-maintained, and tidy. The only downside was a musty smell in the hallways, but the room itself was spotless.

I don't understand how this place had such a high rating when I looked it up. Maybe my expectations of having a clean, dry, unscented place to sleep are too high. The room was a great size and the service wasn't bad. The bad part, well it was moldy and dirty. Clearly it had been flooded at one point and was not cleaned properly. The entire motel smelled like old, moldy towels. There was visible mold everywhere. I was actually a little concerned for my 2 year old. The pants he wore on the hotel carpeting to play were ruined and we threw them away before even leaving the motel. Everything was completely filthy. Everything even felt damp, including the bed. I should mention that it was just dirty on top of the mold. Old food on the wall, hair all through the bathroom. Don't dare look in a corner. Just don't. But aside from the dampness and the smell and the overall gross, it served it's purpose. The bed wasn't great, but it was a bed. There was road work making it a nightmare to get into, which was at no fault of the motel. Had the other hotels in the area not been filled I would have never gone here. Although the ones next to it made this place look like a Hilton. I won't go back. It's not worth what they charge. They have a Roku but the remote was all busted up. You can also hear everything. My 2 year old was not feeling well the one night and we left and took him for a ride bc you could hear his whining down the hall. Although nobody complained, I was annoyed by the thumps and bumps above and beside me. I couldn't imagine having to hear a 2 year old as well.
