I spent 2 nights here. I truly believe they try, but it wasn't a good experience. Overall, I couldn't find a single place on either of the queen beds that I considered "clean" enough to sleep on. Dirt and/or hair were everywhere on them. I slapped the one bed spread and dust billowed into the air. Having no other option due to the UW graduation in La Crosse, I was stuck here...or the backseat of my car. I went to the Dollar ______ store in Caledonia and bought my own sheets and blanket. I always inspect under the beds - what I saw there still makes my stomach turn. There were dried splashes of liquid across the TV. I have no idea what. The microwave and refrigerator were reasonably clean. The bathroom was clean, but the tub was nearly black with age. Water backed up into the tub while showering. Again, I think they do try, but I could never stay here again due to the bed and bedding situation.

Crest Inn Introduce

Hello, fellow Minnesotans! When you're traveling through the scenic southeastern part of our state, especially in the beautiful Bluff Country, finding a place to stay that is both affordable and comfortable is a top priority. The Crest Inn in Caledonia presents itself as a simple, no-frills option that caters to a specific kind of traveler. Unlike the big, impersonal chain hotels found in larger cities, this small motel offers a more rustic and personal experience. It's the kind of place that resonates with those who appreciate a break from the "sterile sameness" of a chain hotel, as one guest put it. Whether you're here for a hunting trip, a weekend of exploring the bluffs, or just passing through, the Crest Inn aims to provide a clean and functional space for your stay. Let's delve into what makes this spot a suitable choice for a certain type of traveler and what you can expect when you book a room here.

The Crest Inn has a reputation for being a small, independently owned motel with a focus on providing a clean and affordable place to stay. Reviews from past guests offer a mixed but insightful picture. On the one hand, the rooms are described as being clean and the staff as "super nice." The motel's dated appearance is not a deterrent for many, who see it as a charming contrast to larger, more modern establishments. The staff's effort to provide a good experience is also acknowledged, highlighting a genuine commitment to hospitality. However, it's also important to be aware of some of the potential drawbacks. A key point of contention has been the cleanliness of the bedding and the age of the facilities. One guest, in a very detailed review, mentioned having to purchase their own sheets and a blanket due to the condition of the provided linens. They also noted some wear and tear, such as a stained bathtub and liquid splashes on the television. While the microwave and refrigerator were reported to be clean, and the bathroom itself was tidy, these experiences show that the hotel may not be suitable for all types of travelers. For those who prioritize a spotless, modern environment, the Crest Inn may not be the ideal choice. However, for hunters, fishermen, and those who value a friendly, small-town feel and don’t mind a bit of vintage character, this motel remains a viable and popular option.

The Crest Inn is conveniently located at 15944 MN-76 in Caledonia, a location that offers both accessibility and proximity to local attractions. Its position on a state highway makes it an easy stop for those traveling by car. This location also places it within a reasonable driving distance of key areas, such as La Crosse, Wisconsin, which is mentioned by one guest who was in the area for a graduation. For those with a more local focus, the inn is a great hub for exploring the surrounding Houston County area. Caledonia is known as the "Wild Turkey Capital of Minnesota," and the inn's location is perfect for those looking to enjoy hunting, fishing, birdwatching, and other outdoor activities. It is also near attractions such as the Ma-Cal-Grove Country Club and Beaver Creek Valley State Park. For anyone looking for a no-fuss base camp to explore the natural beauty of southeastern Minnesota, the Crest Inn's location is a significant advantage.

The Crest Inn provides a selection of services and amenities that are focused on practicality and convenience for the traveling guest. These services ensure that guests have the essentials they need for a comfortable stay.

  • Complimentary high-speed internet is available, including wireless access in the lobby, allowing guests to stay connected during their stay.

  • The motel offers on-site laundry facilities, which is a significant plus for guests on extended stays or for those who have been traveling for a while.
  • For those who need to park a larger vehicle, the inn provides plenty of room for vehicles with trailers, making it a popular choice for hunting and fishing trips.

The Crest Inn has several key features and highlights that guests often mention and that contribute to its unique appeal, particularly for those seeking a more down-to-earth lodging experience.

Very clean small motel. Perfect for hunting trips or when passing through. Though the rooms are dated they are very clean and staff was super nice. A nice change from the sterile sameness of a chain hotel in a bigger town.

Great motel just outside Caledonia. Everything was clean, and was very comfortable. Price was very good for what you got. Microwave, Mini Fridge, TV, Private Bathroom, and Internet included. Breakfast that was offered was somewhat small but more than enough to start your day. Beds were comfortable. Rooms seemed a little stuffy, but could easily be solved with opening a window or turning on the AC. Owners were very nice and helpful. I recommend this for people who are just looking for a simple place to get a goods nights rest from long days, or a place to stay for a small weekend getaway. Will stay here again if I am in the area!

The owners are very nice and helpful. Very clean rooms. Beds are comfy, fridge, microwave in room. There are towels in the room to wipe off guns, boots and motorcycles, which is nice since we were on motorcycles. There was even a futon bed in our room.

was awful, yes the owner was rather kind and helpful but was placed with my partner in an old unused room, not to put anybody off coming here but we had rust coming out of the tap for the bath! doors slamming and banging on doors that are closed, something that sounded like a little girl giggling in middle of our room multiple times and not to mention the footsteps that would follow behind my partner and i when walking to the bathroom! we left in the middle of the night. would not recommend.
