My family and I booked a room at the Days Inn by Wyndham Cedar Falls-University Plaza July 2025 and were very disappointed in our stay. When we arrived the hotel smelled musty and the lobby looked as if it hadn’t been vacuumed in weeks, even though there were vacuums sitting in the open by the check in desk. As we were walking to our room we had to step over dirty linen that was left on the steps. Once we got to our room we couldn’t believe how dirty it was. There are several photos below to show the state our room was in. The floor in the hotel room looked as if it hadn’t not been vacuumed in weeks and we were afraid to even take our shoes off to shower. We were only given 2 towels, even though we had 3 people on the reservation. I saw house keeping outside my room and asked for 3 clean towels and was yelled at by a different man that I only get two towels. I tried to explain that I had three people staying in the hotel room and the house keeper continued to yell at me in a language I did not understand until I gave him my dirty towels. The shower was another story. The curtain was stained and dirty and there were strains of long black hair that had been left on the shower wall. It was apparent that the shower had not been cleaned after the last guest had left. As you can see in the photo below the Kleenex cover was rusty and there was a white substance on the coffee maker. There were random holes in the walls that were covered in dirt and greasy fingerprints. While I was looking for an extra plug I found a used Q-tip on the ground (photo below). There were cords all over around the TV that looked as if they could be a fire hazard. Had there been a fire we wouldn’t have been able to use the phone because it did not work. When I told the front desk about the phone not working, they said they would send some up to check, which never happened. In the morning we went down to where the continental breakfast was supposed to be served. To say that was a breakfast was a far stretch. There was a waffle maker, juice, coffee, a half gallon and of milk in the refrigerator and 2 options for cereal. There was no fresh fruit, no eggs or protein of any kind. There were several other hotels in the area that we could have chosen to stay at, but chose Days Inn by Wyndham because of the reputation we thought they had and the photos that were advertised online. The photos online do not represent the hotel that we stayed at. After this experience we are sad to say that for our future hotel needs we will be looking somewhere else and will not be making recommendations for this hotel. When I called to complain about how I was treated at the hotel, the receptionist told me I would not be getting my money back because I should have said something prior to my leaving. After being yelled at by man about towels I did not feel comfortable going to the front desk since he was the same man who had checked me in at the beginning of the reservation. I also made complaints about the phone not working and no one came to check on the phone, so why would I think that my complaints about the state of the room would be answered. I emailed Wyndham's customer service on Saturday July 12th regarding my complaint and the photos attached and did not receive any communication from them.

Days Inn by Wyndham Cedar Falls- University Plaza Introduce

As Iowans, we know that finding a hotel that fits our budget and our needs can be a challenge, especially in a popular area like Cedar Falls. Whether you're visiting for a University of Northern Iowa event, exploring the Cedar Valley, or just passing through, a good night's sleep is essential. The Days Inn by Wyndham Cedar Falls- University Plaza is a name that you've likely seen, and like many of us, you might be curious about what to expect. This article is a straightforward and informative guide to this hotel, based on publicly available information and customer feedback. We'll give you a clear picture of its location, the services it claims to offer, and what you should consider before booking your stay.

The Days Inn brand, part of the larger Wyndham Hotels & Resorts family, is generally known for providing an affordable and functional lodging option. It's often positioned as a no-frills, budget-friendly choice for travelers who prioritize a low price point over extensive amenities. This particular location in Cedar Falls aims to serve a diverse group of guests, from families on a road trip to solo travelers and those attending university-related functions. The hotel is advertised with certain services and features that are standard for the brand, such as a complimentary breakfast and free Wi-Fi, which are often key considerations for people looking to save on travel expenses. However, recent customer reviews have brought to light some significant concerns regarding the hotel's cleanliness, maintenance, and staff interactions. These accounts suggest a notable disparity between the hotel's advertised offerings and the actual guest experience. While the brand's reputation is a factor, it's crucial to look at recent, direct feedback to get a realistic understanding of what a stay here might entail. We believe in providing a factual and balanced perspective, so we'll be presenting information that helps you make a truly informed decision.

For us in Iowa, value for money is a crucial part of any travel decision. A hotel's promise of affordability is only meaningful if it delivers a satisfactory experience. The Days Inn by Wyndham Cedar Falls- University Plaza, on the surface, appears to meet this need by offering a variety of basic services. However, the importance of these services, from a working phone to a clean room and a promised breakfast, cannot be overstated. When these fundamental aspects are called into question by multiple guests, it raises red flags. The feedback about the continental breakfast being sparse, for example, is a direct contradiction of what many people expect from a "Days Inn" and a crucial detail for travelers planning their morning. Similarly, issues with room cleanliness and staff behavior are major deterrents that potential guests in Iowa will want to know about. This article will lay out the publicly stated services and features, but it will also highlight the importance of considering recent guest experiences that challenge those claims. It's about empowering you, the local user, with all the available information, not just the promotional material.

The hotel's location is situated at 5924 University Ave, Cedar Falls, IA. This is a very convenient location for many people traveling to the area. It is positioned on a main thoroughfare, making it easy to access whether you are coming from other parts of Cedar Falls or from Waterloo. This address places it near the University of Northern Iowa, which is a significant advantage for those attending campus events, visiting students, or for academic-related travel. The location also means it is in close proximity to various shopping centers and dining options, including College Square Mall, providing guests with easy access to food and entertainment. For travelers, especially those who know the Cedar Valley area, a hotel on University Avenue is a well-known and generally easy-to-find spot. The hotel also advertises free parking, which is a major plus for anyone traveling by car, whether from a nearby city or across the state.

In conclusion, the Days Inn by Wyndham Cedar Falls- University Plaza is a hotel that appears to be a mixed bag based on customer feedback. From a local Iowan's perspective, its main draw is its highly convenient and accessible location on University Avenue, making it a great option for anyone needing to be near the university or the area's shopping and dining hubs. It also offers the core amenities that many budget-conscious travelers look for, such as free Wi-Fi and a complimentary breakfast. However, the numerous recent customer reviews detailing issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and staff conduct are a serious consideration that cannot be ignored. The contrast between the hotel's advertised promises and the actual experience reported by some guests suggests that booking here may come with a degree of uncertainty. Therefore, while its location and affordability are appealing, potential guests should be aware of the challenges others have faced. For those who prioritize a low price point and a good location and are willing to take a chance, this hotel might be an option. But for those who place a high premium on cleanliness and consistent service, it may be prudent to explore other lodging options in the Cedar Falls and Waterloo area. This article provides a full picture to help you make the best decision for your travel needs.

When we got there a guest was yelling about his charging cable missing, apparently the clock was blinking when he left, when he got back his charging cable was missing and the clock was set. Me and my mom didn't get a room key because the thing that set them to the room was not working, at least that's what we were told. We were also told not to leave anything of value in the room and if we left he would have to let us in the room, so we didn't go anywhere. The smoke detector in my room was hanging there, and wasn't hooked in tightly. I left my room once to get some food I ordered and the front desk guy forgot that he had to let me in my room. I went to the lobby around 9 thinking there would be a continental breakfast since there was a waffle maker there and bread boxes and juice dispensers, but there wasn't anything. When we checked out there wasn't anyone at the desk, so I hit 0, someone picked up the phone and I told him that we were checking out, he told us to leave the room keys on the counter, I reminded him again that we didn't have room keys. Otherwise the beds were comfortable and clean for the most part, the shower in my mom's room looked pretty dirty.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This place is absolutely disgusting. After driving 15 hours, I was told I did not have a reservation—even though I showed the man at the front desk my confirmation. He still refused to honor it until I contacted Wyndham directly. The room I was eventually shown had visible mold, holes in the furniture, and a filthy tub. The place was completely unacceptable and clearly not up to health standards. I will be reporting this location to the health department first thing Monday. To make matters worse, because of My Waterloo Days, every other hotel nearby was fully booked. I had to drive another hour after my 15-hour trip just to find a place to sleep. Avoid this hotel at all costs. It’s not just poorly managed—it’s a health hazard. See attached photos for proof.

Room was clean, air conditioner worked great, it was quiet. Only complaints would be there's only 2 towels and 2 pillows. Also the TV is prob from 2002 and everything I watch looks like it's raining in the background. But I booked my room for $38 so for that price I can deal with the less than perfect things. I also appreciate how they don't charge your card for the deposit ahead of time, instead just take down card information in case their is damage. Wish other places did this instead of charging the card and then having to wait a month for it to be refunded. Also guy at front desk was very pleasant and helpful.

Truly awful, disgusting place. Room was beat up, AC sounded like a failing airplane engine. Where the smoke alarm was supposed to be there was only the wire coupling. They assured us online and at the front desk the room had a king size bed. It had a king size headboard and a double bed. We cancelled and for only a little bit more we are staying at a very nice Comfort Inn.
