You do NOT want to stay at this hotel! The furniture is ripped and stained. The inside of the refrigerator is dirty. The floors are dirty. There was literally garbage in the window sill which we opened to try to get rid of the smoke smell. When we turned down the bed, there was literally a pile of mouse poop in the sheets! Yuck! How do I get my money back?!
For local users navigating the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform in the Ridgefield, Connecticut area, the Days Inn by Wyndham Ridgefield, situated at 296 Ethan Allen Hwy, Ridgefield, CT 06877, USA, presents itself as a budget-conscious accommodation choice. As part of the Wyndham family, it typically aims to provide essential comforts for travelers. However, it is imperative to offer an objective and comprehensive introduction, considering the highly varied and often critical feedback from actual guests, alongside the advertised features and services.
The Days Inn by Wyndham Ridgefield is strategically located on Route 7 (Ethan Allen Highway), a major thoroughfare that connects Ridgefield with surrounding towns and provides relatively straightforward access to I-95 and I-84. This makes it a convenient stop for travelers passing through the area or those needing easy access to nearby communities like Danbury. The hotel's roadside placement means it offers immediate access to local businesses, including gas stations and some dining establishments. According to some information, it is near attractions like the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum and Ridgefield Golf Course.
However, the "environment" also encompasses the perceived state of the property itself. Customer reviews paint a concerning picture regarding the physical condition and upkeep of the hotel's interior. Common complaints include "ripped and stained" furniture, "dirty" refrigerators, "dirty floors," and visible "garbage in the window sill." Perhaps most disturbing are reports of "a pile of mouse poop in the sheets" and rooms with a "smoke smell." These observations suggest a significant lack of consistent cleanliness and maintenance, potentially impacting the comfort and well-being of guests. While some official descriptions may highlight a pleasant outdoor seating area or a bar/lounge, the predominant guest experiences suggest the overall ambiance is negatively affected by these cleanliness and maintenance issues.
The Days Inn by Wyndham Ridgefield advertises a range of services that are typically expected of a budget hotel, aiming to provide a functional stay. These commonly include:
The quality of service delivery is another area of concern, as reflected in customer reviews. While some guests have had positive interactions, finding the "front desk staff helpful and kind," and some indicating "courteous staff," a strong counter-narrative exists. Reviews describe "apathetic" staff, "horrible customer service," and situations where "they don't know how to receive payments if you book on third party apps," leading to double charges and argumentative encounters. Reports of issues not being adequately addressed, such as a lack of toilet paper, backward shower handles, and stolen items from rooms, further highlight service inconsistencies. Limited housekeeping availability is also mentioned.
The Days Inn by Wyndham Ridgefield is designed with typical budget hotel features to serve basic traveler needs. The rooms are described as having air conditioning and heating, ensuring temperature control. Connecting rooms are available, which can be useful for families or groups. The hotel offers various room types, including king, queen, and double beds, some with efficiency features like a refrigerator and microwave.
Other features include a business center, laundry facilities for guests, and a hot tub/spa area. However, similar to the fitness center, the availability or condition of these features might be questionable given the overall negative feedback on property maintenance. For instance, one review explicitly states, "No hot tub" despite it being listed as an amenity. The hotel also lists BBQ grills for guest use.
A critical feature for any hotel is cleanliness and proper functioning of facilities. The repeated mentions of "dirty rooms in disrepair," "outdated" and "stinks" furniture, broken appliances, and pest issues (mouse poop) in the guest reviews directly contradict the expectation of a well-maintained property. This fundamental issue significantly impacts the overall guest experience, regardless of the list of amenities provided.
As a Wyndham property, the Days Inn by Wyndham Ridgefield likely participates in the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program, allowing guests to earn and redeem points for stays. Wyndham also frequently offers various promotions, such as discounts for booking in advance, extended stays, AARP/AAA member discounts, and seasonal sales. Guests can typically find these promotions on the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts website. Prices for rooms can vary, but generally fall within a budget-friendly range (e.g., $72-$269 AUD based on some listings).
However, for local users searching on "Hotels Near Of Me," it is crucial to temper expectations with the reality presented in numerous guest reviews. The highly negative experiences shared by multiple customers regarding cleanliness, property condition, and staff responsiveness are significant red flags. While the hotel offers a convenient location and essential amenities on paper, the severe nature of the complaints, such as rodent droppings, smoke smell, uncleaned rooms, and malfunctioning utilities, suggests a potentially unpleasant stay.
Prospective guests are strongly advised to heed the warnings from past customers. It might be prudent to "travel a few extra minutes to Danbury to get a room" if cleanliness and basic comfort are priorities, as suggested by one reviewer. If considering this hotel, it would be essential to verify the current state of rooms and amenities directly and perhaps consider it only as a last resort for a very brief, basic stay where budget is the absolute sole consideration and expectations are set extremely low regarding comfort and hygiene.

May 20, 2025 · Anne MartelDo yourself a favor and do NOT stay here. Heed all the others warnings and bad reviews. Pros: I did not get bed bugs or a staph infection. (which is very surprising). Cons: Everything else! Dirty rooms in disrepair costing far too much money, staffed by an apathetic man. Just travel a few extra minutes to Danbury to get a room.
Mar 19, 2025 · Kevin FavreauOk so we stayed here. I read the reviews after I booked, but it was really the only option in that area. We only needed a place to crash for a couple of hours so we figured it wouldn’t be so bad, and for our purposes it wasn’t. Is the place run down? Yes. However the sheets and the towels were clean. It was fine for a night.
Jan 26, 2025 · Joshua JasinskiStayed here recently, and this place was a letdown from start to finish. First off, the blinds didn’t work at all they offered zero privacy. There were even screws in the window frame, probably so you could hang something up to block the view since the blinds were basically useless. The couch had some weird, oily stains on it, making it pretty uninviting. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to sit on it in that condition. Plus, the walls had unfinished patches, with some exposed wiring that just didn’t feel safe. In the shower, there was even a dirty footprint on the wall. Not exactly what you expect to see in a supposedly clean room. The door latch was also broken, adding to the list of issues that just made the room feel neglected. And to top it off, when I asked for a simple one hour extension on checkout, the front desk was rude and refused, which felt unnecessary. For a place that doesn’t seem to care much about upkeep or cleanliness, a little flexibility with guests wouldn’t hurt. If you’re looking for a comfortable stay without all these issues, I’d suggest finding somewhere else.
Nov 07, 2024 · Johnny OvermindThis location is 6.5 miles off the interstate, the girl at the check in is extremely rude and acts as if you staying here is working for her. She is extremely rude and I will not be back. PS if you go to the restaurant/cantina attached to the hotel bring your checkbook they are extremely proud of their food and drinks. Worst place ever.
