DO NOT STAY HERE! I have never been more disappointed in a hotel. The room was dirty. They say they offer breakfast. When I checked in they told me breakfast would be served from 7-9. But there was no breakfast in the morning. My daughter forgot her stuffed animal in the room. When the same day to try to get it back they told me they through it in the garbage and I could not get it back!! The police came to the hotel twice during the night and argued with guests outside my room. The door for my room didn't seal properly and so light and cold air from outside was coming in all night. ABSOLUTELY DESPICABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
For individuals searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Cortland, NY, and specifically prioritizing the lowest possible cost, the Econo Lodge at 10 Church St, Cortland, NY 13045, USA, may appear as an option. The hotel can be contacted at (607) 756-2856 or +1 607-756-2856. However, it is imperative for any prospective guest to approach this establishment with extremely low expectations, as current online reviews indicate significant and widespread issues with the environment, services, and features provided.
The environment of the Econo Lodge in Cortland, based on recent customer feedback, is a primary area of concern. Guests have explicitly stated that rooms were "dirty," indicating a fundamental lack of cleanliness. Beyond mere tidiness, issues like "frozen pipes in bathroom" and rooms taking "24 hours to warm up to 60°" in cold conditions point to severe deficiencies in basic infrastructure and maintenance, directly impacting guest comfort and safety. The external environment also appears problematic, with reports of police presence "twice during the night" and arguments with guests outside rooms, suggesting a potentially disruptive and insecure atmosphere. Structural issues such as room doors that "didn't seal properly," allowing "light and cold air from outside" to enter, further detract from the comfort and privacy of the stay. The overall impression conveyed by reviews is that the environment is one of neglect and disrepair, far from a welcoming or comfortable setting. For those seeking even a basic level of comfort and security, this environment presents significant challenges.
The services at Econo Lodge Cortland, as detailed by multiple guests, appear to be unreliable and, at times, non-existent, leading to "ABSOLUTELY DESPICABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!" One major service failure highlighted is the advertised breakfast. Despite being informed of breakfast hours (7-9 AM), guests reported that "there was no breakfast in the morning." This direct contradiction between advertised and delivered services is a significant issue. Furthermore, an incident involving a forgotten stuffed animal, where staff allegedly "threw it in the garbage" and refused retrieval, exemplifies a severe lack of guest consideration and basic customer care. This indicates a highly unresponsive and unhelpful approach to guest needs and concerns. The functionality of in-room services is also problematic, with reports of "television doesn't work," "refrigerator doesn't work," and "Wi-Fi is terrible." These are fundamental services expected in almost any hotel, regardless of budget. The complete absence of basic amenities like a toilet paper holder in a renovated room further underscores a lack of attention to essential guest needs. The overall service provision appears to be consistently poor, falling far short of even minimal expectations for hospitality.
The features of the Econo Lodge in Cortland, based on direct guest experiences, are characterized by a lack of functionality and basic amenities. In-room features reported as non-functional include televisions and refrigerators, the latter leading to spoiled food. Connectivity is severely hampered by "terrible Wi-Fi." The "TV selection is outrageous," implying a very limited or undesirable range of channels. Beyond functionality, basic comfort features are missing or inadequate. The "frozen pipes" and rooms struggling to reach even 60°F point to a failure in climate control features. Structural features like improperly sealing doors compromise insulation and privacy. Furthermore, simple but crucial amenities like a "toilet paper holder" and a "table we eat at" (which was reportedly removed) are absent. These omissions and malfunctions indicate that the hotel's features are not only below standard but also actively detract from the guest experience. While the hotel aims to provide rooms, the condition and functionality of these rooms, and the amenities within them, are consistently reported as severely lacking, making a comfortable stay challenging. The presence of these issues means that guests cannot rely on even the most fundamental features typically found in lodging.
From a promotional perspective, any marketing for Econo Lodge Cortland would need to be critically evaluated against the very negative feedback received. While Econo Lodge is typically branded as a budget-friendly option, the severity of the reported issues (dirtiness, non-existent breakfast, poor customer service, unsafe environment, dysfunctional amenities, lack of basic features) makes it difficult to objectively highlight positive promotional points. The primary 'promotional' draw, if any, would be an extremely low price, targeting travelers for whom cost is the absolute sole determinant and who are willing to overlook significant comfort and service deficiencies. However, even for this segment, the extent of the reported problems raises serious questions about value. The strong negative sentiment, including explicit warnings like "DO NOT STAY HERE!", significantly undermines any positive promotional efforts. There is no indication of special offers or loyalty programs detailed in the reviews, and the core 'product' (a functional and comfortable room) appears to be consistently underdelivered. Prospective guests are strongly advised to consider the overwhelming negative experiences shared by previous visitors when making a decision about staying at this Econo Lodge, even if the price appears very low. Direct contact at (607) 756-2856 or +1 607-756-2856 would be necessary to inquire about current rates, but the provided information heavily suggests that cost savings may come at a very high price in terms of comfort, safety, and service.

Apr 19, 2025 · John BessantIf you are reading this, do NOT stay here. Sleeping in your car at a or Walmart would be safer. The City should just buy this place and turn it into affordable housing.
Feb 09, 2025 · John JT ThomasThis hotel keeps going downhill! Even though they "updated" some of the rooms with new floors, everything is still old...the furniture, and the important things like the bathroom!!! Bathroom floor was very dirty, bathtub enamel was flaked off all over the place, and more than once, when I wanted hot water, it took literally 5 min for the water to start to get warm. The sink drain was so clogged that, the water plugged up to over half way up the sink. I guess I was lucky....no bedbugs, like some other reviewers. Also, the front window had a huge crack in it. Free continental breakfast is advertised on website, but when I got there, they told me breakfast was only on Sat.???? Don't think I'll ever stay there again. Not worth saving the money. Even this hotel was $100+ per night!!!
Jun 16, 2024 · P YDangerous and filthy criminal hotel. Shockingly unsanitary. Trash everywhere outside and discarded drug needles in parking lot. Overwhelming smell of cigarettes and mold in every room. Slimy, stained showers, BED BUGS, broken furniture, missing smoke detectors, exposed electric wires. Smashed windows and broken glass. Homeless people, drug dealers and street workers stay here long term and hang around outside the rooms smoking cigarettes and openly doing drugs. The state health department was required to put a notice in the window of the front office that they carry Nalaxone medication due to the amount of reported drug overdoses here. The local area knows that this place is a crime ridden dump, unfortunately since I am from out of town, I didn’t. The rooms are decrepit, falling apart and beyond unsanitary. I was shocked that it was legal to rent a room in that condition. There’s more than just bed bugs here, likely scabies, pubic lice, and god knows what. The worst part is, the “management” here has absolutely zero care or pride for their property, they are immigrants and appear to dislike all the guests who stay here. No remorse or concern for very valid negative guest experiences, unapologetic and condescending. When I expressed the fact that I felt unsafe staying here as a young female, the manager dismissed me as hysterical and high maintenance, refused to refund me even though I left and didn’t stay for my 3 night reservation. Hands down the worst hotel I’ve ever experienced in my entire life, without a doubt. Please heed my warning and the other bad reviews, pay more to stay ANYWHERE else! Even sleeping in your car will be safer and cleaner.
