We were looking for a “staycation” experience for ourselves and our children during their spring break. We chose home towne because of the great price point, the pool and the location. We spent hours in the beautifully redone pool where there was plenty of nice seating for us to relax while our kids played. Our rooms were great. Very spacious and we loved that it had a full size fridge sink and small table to eat at. We needed a pack and play and were able to secure one with the front desk. To our surprise it was a “newer” and clean one. The staff was all super friendly Kora and Sierra went out of their way to help make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Julia was the one that punched us towards booking here and we are so glad we did. We will be back for sure!
For local users and travelers searching for "Hotels Near Me" with an emphasis on extended stay capabilities in Cortland, NY, the HomeTowne Studios & Conference Center Cortland presents itself as a notable option. Located at 2 River St Building A, Cortland, NY 13045, USA, this establishment caters to guests seeking longer-term accommodations, as well as those on shorter visits looking for specific amenities. The hotel can be contacted via phone at (607) 756-4431 or mobile at +1 607-756-4431.
The environment of HomeTowne Studios & Conference Center Cortland is situated on River Street, which typically places it within a more commercial or industrial part of the city, common for extended stay properties that prioritize accessibility and functional lodging over scenic views. While the immediate surroundings might not be picturesque, the location often offers convenient access to local businesses, SUNY Cortland, and main roads. As an extended stay hotel, its design focuses on providing practical living spaces for guests who might be in the area for work assignments, temporary relocations, or longer vacations. However, it's important to note potential external conditions, such as reported construction or infrastructure issues like a "big sinkhole" at the front of the building, which can impact the initial impression and overall exterior appeal for arriving guests. The overall feel of an extended stay property aims for a more residential, self-sufficient atmosphere rather than a traditional full-service hotel ambiance.
Regarding services, HomeTowne Studios & Conference Center Cortland aims to provide essential support for longer stays. A key aspect highlighted by positive reviews is the staff's friendliness and willingness to assist guests. Team members like Kora, Sierra, and Julia have been specifically praised for going "out of their way to help make our stay comfortable and enjoyable" and for their helpfulness in the booking process. This level of attentive customer service is a significant asset, particularly for guests who might require assistance with various needs over an extended period. For families, the availability of amenities like a "newer" and clean pack-and-play is a valuable service that demonstrates an understanding of diverse guest requirements. However, it's also important to acknowledge feedback indicating challenges with basic service provisions, such as the consistent availability of towels, soap, and toilet paper, and the responsiveness of staff to deliver these items to rooms. The expectation for an extended stay is often that guests have more autonomy, but essential replenishment services remain crucial.
The features of the rooms at HomeTowne Studios are tailored for extended stays, emphasizing self-sufficiency and comfort. Reviews consistently note that the rooms are "very spacious" and come equipped with a "full size fridge, sink and small table to eat at." This kitchenette setup is a defining feature of extended stay properties, allowing guests to prepare their own meals and reduce dining expenses, which is particularly beneficial for longer durations. While the presence of a full-size fridge is a significant advantage, other in-room amenities like lighting have been criticized as "horrible," suggesting potential areas for improvement in room design or maintenance. The overall cleanliness of the floors has also been a point of contention in some reviews, indicating potential inconsistencies in housekeeping standards. The property also features a conference center, implying facilities for business meetings, events, or larger gatherings, which could be attractive to corporate clients or local organizations. This dual functionality as both an extended stay hotel and a conference venue broadens its appeal.
A significant recreational feature that enhances the appeal of HomeTowne Studios & Conference Center Cortland, particularly for families or those seeking leisure, is its swimming pool. Positive feedback highlights the "beautifully redone pool where there was plenty of nice seating" for relaxation while children play. This amenity can be a major draw, offering a place for recreation and unwinding after a day of activities. For guests on a "staycation," as one review noted, the pool is a central element of their enjoyable experience. This feature positions the hotel as a more attractive option compared to properties without recreational facilities, especially during warmer months or for families traveling with children. The overall property aims to blend the comforts of home with the conveniences of a hotel, providing a balanced experience for guests with varied needs, whether they are transient visitors or longer-term residents. Despite some criticisms, the price point of the hotel is often cited as "great," suggesting it offers good value for its category, particularly for budget-conscious travelers or those looking for extended stays.
For promotional information, HomeTowne Studios & Conference Center Cortland would likely emphasize its affordability, spacious rooms with kitchenettes, and the inclusion of an attractive pool facility. Its dual function as both an extended stay hotel and a conference center would be highlighted to appeal to a broader range of clientele, from individual travelers to corporate groups. The convenience of its location in Cortland, providing access to local universities, businesses, and attractions, would also be a key selling point. The positive interactions with friendly and helpful staff would likely be featured, as excellent customer service significantly contributes to guest satisfaction. However, to maintain objectivity, it's essential for potential guests to be aware of the reported issues concerning maintenance, such as odors in hallways, exterior conditions, and inconsistent provision of basic supplies. While some guests have had highly positive experiences, particularly families enjoying the pool and spacious rooms, others have found the operational shortcomings to be significant drawbacks. Therefore, for those searching "Hotels Near Me" for an extended stay in Cortland, HomeTowne Studios offers a compelling price point and specific amenities, but with a degree of variability in the overall guest experience, depending on their priorities and expectations for service and maintenance.

Apr 18, 2025 · Kelsey MalchakThis hotel can definitely use major improvements. Not enough towels, no soap for the shower and the shower gel ran out before we finished showering. I requested one more towel and had to go get it myself, they would not bring it to me. They left only one roll of toilet paper and when it ran out, we had to go get it ourselves as well. The lighting is horrible. Floors were dirty. I asked for one more pillow, and they said they don’t have any available. All of the hallways had a horrible stench. The front of the building looks like they have a big sink hole with construction around it. Overall, they need to do better. After a long day, you do not want to be hassled with all of this extra stuff. We’ll never stay here again and do not recommend to others
May 11, 2025 · JanelleLove the location since it's right here in town. The front desk clerk Sierra is amazing. She always helps us out and usually has my girlfriend and I already checked in and ready to go when we walk in. She just hands me the key and we're off. Love the staff here!
