Econo Lodge Review: A Clean, No-Frills Stay with a Personal Touch Tucked off the highway and serving weary travelers with modest expectations, the Econo Lodge we visited offered a surprisingly clean, if basic, overnight experience — with a few quirks that left an impression. We arrived just after midnight and were greeted in the small, bright lobby by a friendly, middle-aged gentleman standing behind a podium. He introduced himself as the new owner and, despite the late hour, remained energetic and welcoming. Two family members were quietly setting up the next morning’s continental breakfast — a humble arrangement of packaged muffins and a coffee station, a scene that hinted at the hands-on, all-in family effort behind the operation. Our room on the second floor had clearly been recently repainted, part of a broader effort to refresh the aging property. It was immaculately clean — the floors, bathroom, and bed all spotless. But the thermostat read 86°F when we arrived, an uncomfortable welcome after a long drive. A wall switch and a window unit eventually brought the temperature down, though it took a combination of air conditioning and an open door for the better part of half an hour to reach comfort. While the hotel shows its age in its bones, the visible care in its maintenance and cleanliness cannot be overstated. For an affordable rate booked online, we felt we got our money’s worth for a one-night stay. A longer visit, however, might raise questions of consistency and comfort. Check-out the next morning lacked the charm of check-in. The lobby was empty, and no staff were present. We called the number posted on the door and reached, we assume, the same owner from the night before — who sounded as though we’d just woken him. Still, there's something endearing about a place trying its best under new ownership. For travelers needing a clean, budget-friendly stopover, this Econo Lodge delivers where it counts. Just don’t expect concierge service — or anyone at the front desk in the morning.

This is my second time staying here, and I just keep extending my stay. Every morning I go in for breakfast and there's something new-new Keurig, fresh fruit, new pastry. The staff is amazing. They're kind and attentive. Rooms are clean and roomy. It seems they're constantly improving. I'm very impressed and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I've now stayed at this place multiple times. Everytime I come back, it's the same. GREAT service, clean rooms, comfortable beds. The staff is amazing, Preet I believe his name is, is a great guy, polite, kind, helpful. If you're coming to sturbridge or the area for anything. Look into this place. Well priced, and there's breakfast! 5 stars.

Worst service ever. Stayed 9 nights there room was fine. Never asked if I needed new towels toilet paper, or linens. My TV went out the second night called multiple times, the guy said he would come look or send a tech. Never did. Couldn't even offer to switch our room. I ended up leaving a night early even though I paid for the next night in advance. Left the room key in the drop box and called the next day for a refund for that night around 5 o'clock. Told me I had to call before 4 because as far as they knew I never checked out. What is the point of a key drop box. Then proceeded to lie to me. Definitely not very good service. Definitely wouldn't go back.

The nicest people imaginable running this place, high quality service with friendly and accommodating staff, nice and comfortable rooms with good lighting (so hard to get in a motel room). Also the pillows are so soft!!! Clean rooms, also you don't see a lot of hotels with wood floors. Good sized mini-fridge and powerful microwave, plenty of outlets too. Also the cable has HBO. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to be right by historic Sturbridge or within not bad distance of the Brimfield Flea Market
