Horrible experience. Rooms seem decent. Hotel in good condition. Passes the eye test. HOWEVER the noise in the hotel was horrible. The room doors to the hallway have nearly half inch gaps under them. You hear everything going on in the hall and the hotel management did not seem to care about the kids yelling and screaming and running up and down the halls until nearly midnight. The worst part, however, was the noise from the adjoining room. Unfortunately, we had a room that had the doorway pass through to an adjoining room. These very thin doors also had a nearly half inch gap under them. We could hear everything that went on in the adjoining room. Everything! Including every sound of their intimate moments in the shower. We could hear the water running in their sink. We could hear every word of their conversations. We could hear the words from their TV; not just a muffled sound but the actual words being spoken. Horrible night. Would highly recommend avoiding this hotel if your ears work. The 1st pic shows under the door to the adjoining room. Not only the light from their bathroom but every sound they made came right through and under the door. 2nd pic shows the gap under the door to the hallway. Noisiest hotel we have ever stayed in.

Hampton Inn Auburn is situated on Southbridge Street, offering good connectivity to the surrounding region. Its location near major interstates means guests can easily reach destinations such as the Auburn Mall (just a short drive away), College of the Holy Cross, Clark University, and the DCU Center in Worcester. While the hotel is generally described as being in a decent area, away from the immediate bustle of a busy street, some reviews suggest that despite its setting, external or internal noise can be a significant factor. The hotel is noted for its "good condition" and passing "the eye test" in terms of appearance.
The parking lot, however, has received feedback regarding snow removal during winter months, with guests noting "poorly cleared" conditions and "frozen ruts" that could make parking and walking treacherous. This indicates that while the hotel aims for convenience, seasonal conditions might impact guest experience in outdoor areas. The property is a 100% smoke-free establishment, ensuring a fresh indoor environment for all guests.
As a Hampton Inn property, this hotel typically provides a range of complimentary services designed to enhance guest comfort and value. A key offering is the free daily hot breakfast. Guests generally find the breakfast to be "very good, hot and fresh," with a variety of options to start the day. The hotel also provides 24-hour coffee and tea in the common areas, which is a convenient perk for guests at any time.
The hotel maintains a 24-hour front desk with friendly and helpful staff, a consistent positive point in guest reviews. They offer services like express check-in/check-out, luggage storage, and free newspapers in the lobby. For those needing to stay connected, free Wi-Fi and wired internet access are available in all rooms and public areas. The hotel also offers a business center, meeting rooms, and dry cleaning/laundry services, catering to both leisure and business travelers.
For recreation and relaxation, Hampton Inn Auburn features an indoor pool and a 24-hour fitness center. While some online information mentions a seasonal outdoor pool, the Auburn, MA specific hotel primarily advertises an indoor pool. The fitness center is generally well-maintained, allowing guests to keep up with their workout routines. The hotel also offers a free local area shuttle, which can be beneficial for exploring nearby attractions without the need for a personal vehicle.
The guest rooms at Hampton Inn Auburn are designed for comfort, featuring standard amenities such as air conditioning, comfortable beds with premium bedding, a desk, a 43-inch flat-screen TV with cable and premium channels (including Netflix and pay movies), a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee/tea maker, and iron/ironing board. Bathrooms include shower/bathtub combinations and hairdryers. The rooms are described as "decent" and generally "clean." Connecting rooms are available, which can be useful for families or larger groups.
However, a significant feature that has drawn strong negative feedback is related to noise insulation. Multiple reviews highlight "horrible noise" due to "nearly half inch gaps" under room doors to the hallway and, critically, under the connecting room doors. This design flaw reportedly leads to audible conversations, TV sounds, and even intimate moments from adjacent rooms, making for a "horrible night" for sensitive sleepers. While some guests report their stay as "decently quiet" with "few noisy neighbors," this issue appears to be a consistent concern for others, indicating that potential guests should be aware of this risk, especially if assigned a room with a connecting door.
Additional features include:
As part of the Hilton family, Hampton Inn Auburn participates in the Hilton Honors loyalty program, offering members benefits such as discounted rates, points accumulation for free nights, and digital check-in/key options. While specific current promotions were not readily available, travelers can often find deals by booking directly through Hilton's website or by utilizing loyalty program benefits. It's always recommended to check their official website or call the hotel directly for the latest offers and packages.
Guest feedback, as noted, is mixed, primarily due to the noise issue. While the "friendly staff and clean rooms" are typical strengths of the Hampton Inn brand and are often praised, the sound insulation problem significantly impacts the overall experience for some. One reviewer stated, "Typical Hilton. Friendly staff and clean rooms," suggesting that the core Hampton Inn experience is delivered, but the noise issue is a deviation. Another reviewer confirmed, "Hotel was ok. Was decently quiet, few noisy neighbors." However, the stark warning to "highly recommend avoiding this hotel if your ears work" from a guest who experienced severe noise from an adjoining room cannot be overlooked. This suggests that while many elements of a Hampton Inn stay are present and positive, the comfort level can vary significantly based on room assignment and neighboring guest behavior.
In summary, Hampton Inn Auburn offers a convenient location with easy highway access, typical Hampton Inn amenities like complimentary breakfast, an indoor pool, and a fitness center, all supported by generally friendly staff. However, potential guests, especially those sensitive to noise, should be aware of and factor in the reported issues with sound insulation, particularly concerning connecting room doors and hallway noise. For a short stay or for travelers who prioritize location and basic amenities, and are less sensitive to potential noise, it can be a perfectly adequate choice when searching for "Hotels Near Of Me."

Mar 01, 2025 · J DHotel was ok. Was decently quiet, few noisy neighbors. Typical Hilton. Friendly staff and clean rooms. Parking lot was poorly cleared from snow. Frozen ruts in the parking spots made parking and walking treacherous. Need a better snow removal contractor.
Feb 22, 2025 · Nick CzerulaAnother badly managed, unclean and unkept Hampton inn. After 4 experiences with 4 bad stays with them, 2 at this location. Just do yourself a favor and don’t go here or to any Hampton Inn’s. Used to be my go too but now it’s a glorified motel. The manager stated she took my complaints down for both stays within one week and now magically, The didn’t have any complaints other then I was unhappy with the room. Lopsided/uneven and indented mattresses. Frayed torn bedspreads. Rusty metal hardware in bathrooms, mildew on edge of tub. Pool is never open. Thin walls so you hear every thing your neighbors above and alongside do. Pet fur from previous stay on side of bed. Management tells people to let them know the issues immediately after check in, which I went down to do and let them know I didn’t want to stay there and requested money back, before I could even get thru the list of problems why I didn’t feel safe, clean or comfortable with, they cut me off to say I would have to go thru the booking company no matter what. After having to call that company and have them reach out and deal with them several hours the manager of the hotel has told the representatives of the. Booking site they can’t refund because I didn’t give them an option to stay in another room. They also told them that same night that if I wanted too return they already rented out the room. Don’t use Priceline either as they won’t help if the other company isn’t honest as this location.
Jan 27, 2025 · Nick MorganWe booked through Priceline about two months ago, a couple weeks before the event we decided to extend one more day. So we were shocked when we were told checkout would Monday instead of Tuesday. Called Priceline and told for some reason the extra day was a separate reservation instead of an extension. Priceline called Hampton and got it straightened out and told to have passkey reprogrammed for extra day. Went to front desk and clerk said we would still have to check out Monday and the check back in and be given a different passcard and room. Anyway decided to forget the extra day and come home a day earlier. The room was okay and clean. But the shower rod was too loose and shaped like a bow and hung down so the curtain would slide back toward the center and not stay closed, there was very little counter space, the bathroom was large but very bare. The walls were thin and could easily hear people in the hallway and the baby in the room next to us.
Feb 24, 2025 · scb0421I really liked my stay here. Clean, modern, and good accomodations. I was disappointed that the website didn't mention the pool being closed so I must deduct a star. I wish I was compensated for that.
