Dirtyyyyu place. Smoking indoors. Watery drinks. Makes Johnstown look bad. Needs to be shut down.
When searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the Fifth Ave Hotel at 500 Broad St, Johnstown, PA 15906, USA, appears as an establishment with a somewhat bifurcated online presence. Unlike typical chain hotels, this property seems to function as a local bar and eatery, potentially offering very basic lodging. This dual nature means it caters to different expectations: those seeking a casual local spot for food and drinks, and those looking for extremely budget-friendly or last-minute accommodation. The phone number for inquiries is (814) 535-3624 or +1 814-535-3624.
The environment of the Fifth Ave Hotel is a significant point of contention in guest reviews. While one perspective describes it as a "nice place to visit" for its food, another characterizes it as "dirtyyyyu place" with "smoking indoors" and "watery drinks." This suggests an establishment that embraces a more rustic, perhaps "dive bar" aesthetic, rather than a polished, modern hotel. The presence of indoor smoking, if accurate, indicates it operates under different regulations or is an older establishment where such practices might still occur, contrasting sharply with the smoke-free policies of most contemporary hotels. Its location on Broad Street places it within the urban fabric of Johnstown, likely in a more established, perhaps older, part of the city. For those who appreciate authentic local establishments with character, even if unpolished, this environment might hold appeal. However, for guests prioritizing pristine cleanliness and modern amenities, the environment could be off-putting. It is important to note that the "hotel" aspect might refer to very basic room rentals, potentially above the bar area, rather than a dedicated lodging facility with a separate entrance or lobby.
The services at the Fifth Ave Hotel appear to be primarily centered around its role as a drinking establishment and eatery. One review specifically highlights "great food," suggesting that a kitchen is operational and serves meals. The provision of drinks is also mentioned, albeit with a critical note about them being "watery." Unlike typical hotels, there is no information available to suggest a 24-hour front desk, daily housekeeping, or amenities like Wi-Fi, fitness centers, or pools. The service model would likely be that of a local bar: order at the counter or from a server, and basic needs are met by the bar staff. Any "hotel" services would be minimal and transactional, focused solely on providing a room for the night. Guests should not expect the comprehensive services of a standard hotel. Its historical context suggests that such establishments in Johnstown in the past often combined saloon, eating, and basic lodging functions.
Information regarding the features of the "hotel" rooms themselves is extremely limited, and likely refers to very basic accommodations. Given the context of a bar, it's probable that any rooms offered are simple, no-frills spaces. The critical review mentioning a "dirtyyyyu place" and the comment "Needs to be shut down" strongly imply that the condition of any available rooms might be highly unsatisfactory, particularly concerning cleanliness. There are no details available about specific room amenities like private bathrooms, air conditioning, TVs, or beds. The term "hotel" might be used in an older, broader sense, referring to a building with a ground-floor commercial establishment and upper-floor lodging, which historically could be very spartan. It is highly unlikely to feature modern hotel conveniences. For potential guests, it's crucial to manage expectations and understand that this is not a conventional hotel stay.
Promotional information for the Fifth Ave Hotel is not found through typical hotel booking platforms or loyalty programs. Instead, its promotion appears to be largely organic, through local word-of-mouth or online reviews that reflect direct customer experiences. The positive comment about "great food" might draw local patrons looking for a casual meal. The negative reviews, while critical, also serve as a form of "promotion" by informing potential visitors about the establishment's rougher edges. Given its apparent nature as a local bar with potentially minimal lodging, formal promotional campaigns are unlikely. Those interested in experiencing this establishment would likely do so out of curiosity for a truly local, unvarnished Johnstown experience, or simply for its food and drink offerings. Direct contact via phone at (814) 535-3624 or +1 814-535-3624 would be the only reliable way to inquire about any available rooms or current offerings, as well as to ascertain the current atmosphere and policies, such as indoor smoking. It's a place that appeals to a specific type of traveler who prioritizes an authentic, perhaps gritty, local experience over standard hotel comforts and amenities.
