EDIT- ignore the owners response. There was no misinterpreting what was said. I was told very rudely to leave because it was private property. If you were so good at customer service, you wouldn't be saying it's private property. Your staff member was being a Karen, sorry for your misinterpretation of the situation that happened Parked in the parking lot for 10 minutes to eat on a long road trip. The parking lot is nearly empty. Some old lady come out and says "what are you doing?" After explaining, she says " you need to leave, we are doing parking lot stuff today. This is private property" in a hateful tone I'm not sure what 'parking lot stuff' but there was no need to be rude. We will find a room somewhere else.

Apr 24, 2025 · NahComfortable, clean, quiet! The views of the bridge and river are fabulous. Staff are friendly and helpful!
May 16, 2025 · Lorrie MI should let every one know before writing this review I’m a hotel snob. I use to open Great Wolf Resorts (the indoor water park company) all across the USA. I also try to typically stay in the nicest hotel within reason: Marriott’s normally/not blank by Marriott but actual Marriott’s. With that noted: I could not have been happier with this outdated hotel. It is charming and has beautiful views of the water. I think the photos of the curtains and bedding being of a style that has not been regularly used in about 50-years, instead of modern comforters and curtains turns a lot of people off. However, that is extremely misguided of those folks as the old saying goes: “don’t judge a book by its cover” and that couldn’t be more true in this case. Because under those outdated styles is brand new clean mattresses and pillow tops. That combined with the friendly staff, clean rooms, great shower pressure (super important) and beautiful views makes this place a home run. I chose this place despite the outdated photos online because it had good reviews. Honestly, the reviews were not good enough this hotel felt like. 4.6 instead of a 4.4. Also and most incredibly we saved 60% over several night’s or about $500 dollars booking here vs. going to gross hotels closer to Acadia. I would normally like to keep this place a secret and save money again but my wife and I live no where close to Maine and probably won’t be visiting again and I want to make sure the owners get their return on investment. Though, and I mean this sincerely if I owned the place I would change the comforters and curtains to a modern style just so I could charge much more. Enjoy this gem before that happens!
Aug 04, 2024 · Ronnie NeumannWe had a fantastic stay here. The views from the room just can't be beat. Staff was incredibly friendly. There is a walking path just outside the hotel that runs along the river front and a great restaurant across the street. Call the hotel directly for best options instead of going thru 3rd parties like Expedia, I contacted both and the hotel itself was a better option. This is a small, family run hotel, not a chain.
Oct 29, 2024 · Kimberly ShoenFort Knox Inn is unlike your typical cookie cutter hotels. Much better. Friendly staff who are actually interested in knowing their guests. Immaculate rooms with comfortable beds and QUIET! Reasonable prices for a prime location in a very nice Maine town ,one hour from Acadia. Ask for a water view , you will not be disappointed.. Honestly one of the nicest hotels we have visited.
