This hotel is very close to Memorial Sloan Kettering, where my disabled son is being treated for stage 4 cancer. I called the hotel to ask about the pool & make sure it would be open & operable prior to our stay in January & was assured it would be. I took my son here for his birthday for 2 nights so that he could swim in between his treatments at MSK. Y’all, the pool wasn’t heated. In NY in JANUARY. We attempted to go in but it was like arctic cold, seriously the coldest water I’ve ever been in. Unswimmable, which is why I never saw another guest in it either. I didn’t complain during our stay bc I didn’t want to get upset in front of my son. Obviously our family is going through a LOT right now & even if they did have heat there was no way to get this pool to a decent temp during our short stay. When I received the “how was everything” survey after our stay, I filled it out & told them about what happened, about how I called & asked questions about the pool & how they left out the fact that it was a freezing cold unheated pool that was unusable. Told them that my son is disabled, has cancer, loves hotels w indoor pools. The survey asked if I would like to be contacted. I answered yes & nobody ever contacted me. I called the hotel & left a voicemail for the manager explaining what happened & he did not call me back. So if you love pools that are too cold to go in, deceptive front desk staff who will leave out important information to get you to stay there, an unresponsive hotel manager, and absolutely zero customer service or compassion for a kid with incurable cancer, the Hampton Inn in Commack is for you. Also, their breakfast sucks.

It was a terrible hotel. We stayed at this hotel for two nights for a business trip, and we checked in a day earlier than the reservation made by our workplace, paying for the first night ourselves. To avoid having to check in and check out again, we explained the situation to the hotel at check-in. On the second night, when I returned to the room with a sleeping child in my arms, the room key didn’t work, and we had to go through the check-in process again, this time with a baby. The next morning, we discovered that the toilet in the room was clogged. Early in the morning, we had to rush to the lobby restroom. All of this happened at an inconvenient hour. The most bizarre part was when I informed the staff about the clogged toilet, they sent someone to fix it. However, the maintenance staff entered the room using their key card without waiting for us to open the door. My child was sleeping, the room was dark, and suddenly, a man holding a plunger burst into the room. Imagine someone opening your door in the early morning darkness with a plunger in hand. By the way, we didn’t clog the toilet; it was obvious the room had been handed to us without proper checks. Lastly, during breakfast, please keep pork and other meat products in separate warmers. As a Muslim, I couldn’t eat the eggs and potatoes that were kept in the same container as the pork bacon. Also, ensure at least a 15-minute gap between the end of breakfast and the start of cleaning, so cleaning products don’t mix with the food. At 10:03 AM, someone started cleaning above us with a spray in hand. The cleaning solution even reached our table, and we didn’t want to eat the food on our plates after that.

The hotel was just minutes from my client. There were a few dining options nearby: Premiere Diner (a very popular spot with local residents. I visited for both lunch and dinner and it was consistently busy), Filettos-Italian restaurant, Chik Fil-a, and a Starbucks are all within walking distance. Lowe’s Hardware is next door, along with a bunch of other retail stores. The star of my stay was the warm welcome by Miss Judy at the front desk! She was friendly, efficient and gave great dining suggestions. My room was ready as I had checked in the night before. It was spacious, very clean, the bed was very comfortable and I was even able to enjoy a rare short nap! I have to add that my room was refreshed every day of my stay here. It goes to show how important guest satisfaction and cleanliness are important to the management and owners. I’ll definitely be staying here again!

We have stayed in this hotel a number of times when traveling to NY to visit family and friends. Usually everything is great, however this past trip to NY for a wedding we were put in room 503 the room was clean and welcoming but it seems like there was no sound proofing between our room and the room next to us.(room 501) We could hear everything in that room like there was no wall there. We talked to the front desk and were moved to another room which didn't have that problem. It was something that I have never dealt with when visiting this hotel
