My recent stay at the Highland View cabin for a 5 day vacation started off disappointing. Upon our first night at the cabin we found that the cabin hadn't been properly cleaned in some time seeing the thick layers of dust in every room and the badly stained carpets and mattresses. This is very concerning with the current worries about Covid-19. The next morning I did contact the management offices and report the lack of cleaning, additional bedding for the sleeper sofas and only 7 (small) towels provided. I will give them credit because within the 2-4 hour window of time to send someone that did dust the cabin (first time in months I am sure) along with delivering additional towels, bedding and pillows as requested. There were many areas around the cabin that could really use some maintenance attention. A suggestion for large groups looking to stay here the 2 queen sleeper sofa mattresses had nothing more than just the springs left making sleeping on the floor a better option. One of the two sofa mattresses also had mold in the middle. If you are looking to stay at the Highland View while it is a very cheap option for a party of 6-8 guest expect that it has been cared for very cheaply too. Other notes were that we were only provided with one trash bag, almost every utensil in the kitchen was broken and there were a disturbing amount of small cockroaches we saw around the cabin during our stay. I almost forgot to mention also we found a pair of dirty underwear that was hanging from a piece wall art (even after requesting the cleaning). We left a note so that hopefully they will be disposed of before the next guest arrive.

Highland View Introduce

Howdy, fellow Tennesseans and those planning a memorable trip to our beloved Great Smoky Mountains! If the idea of a spacious, private escape amidst stunning natural beauty sounds like your ideal vacation, then a cabin rental in the Pigeon Forge area is likely on your radar. Today, we’re taking an in-depth, honest look at Highland View, a cabin located right here in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. This article is designed to give you a clear, engaging, and factual overview of what this particular cabin offers, including important insights from recent customer feedback, to help you plan your perfect Smoky Mountain adventure.

The Great Smoky Mountains draw millions of visitors each year with their breathtaking scenery, endless outdoor activities, and the vibrant local culture of towns like Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and Gatlinburg. Highland View, as a private cabin rental, aims to provide a comfortable and unforgettable lodging experience, focusing on the charm and convenience of cabin living for groups. However, as with any individual property, guest experiences can vary significantly. Let’s explore the details of what makes this cabin a potential choice for your next Tennessee getaway, while also addressing crucial considerations from past visitors.

Location and Accessibility

Highland View is situated at 1627 Mountain Dreams Way, Pigeon Forge, TN 37863, USA. This address places it within the picturesque landscape of the Smoky Mountains, often within a resort community like Sherwood Forest Resort, offering a sense of peace and privacy. Its location in Pigeon Forge is a significant advantage, providing excellent accessibility to the region’s most popular attractions.

Pigeon Forge is a bustling hub for family entertainment, dining, and shopping. From Highland View, guests can expect relatively easy access to the main Parkway, which is home to attractions like Dollywood (often within a 10-minute drive), The Island in Pigeon Forge, numerous dinner shows (like Dolly Parton's Stampede and Pirates Voyage), and outlet malls. The cabin is also conveniently located for accessing the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for hiking, scenic drives, and enjoying nature's tranquility.

Mountain Dreams Way suggests a location that might involve some winding roads or inclines, typical of cabins nestled in the hills. However, being in an established cabin community means roads are generally maintained. Reviewers often note the beautiful views, which indicates its elevated position. For guests, having personal transportation is essential for exploring the area, and Highland View typically offers ample parking space. The balance of a tranquil setting with practical proximity to attractions makes Highland View an appealing location for those seeking both relaxation and adventure in the Smokies.

Services Offered

Highland View, as a private cabin rental, offers a comprehensive set of amenities designed to provide a comfortable and self-sufficient stay for groups. Unlike a traditional hotel with a centralized front desk and daily maid service, this cabin provides the privacy and facilities of a home-away-from-home. Based on available public information and common offerings for cabins of this size in the area, here are the key services and features you can generally expect:

  • Multiple Bedrooms and Bathrooms: Described as accommodating 6-8 guests comfortably, with listings often showing 2 or 3 bedrooms and multiple bathrooms, making it suitable for families or groups. Some sources indicate it has 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, sleeping up to 12 guests.
  • Fully Equipped Kitchen: The cabin features a full kitchen, typically equipped with modern appliances (like stainless steel, refrigerator, oven, microwave), granite countertops, and all necessary cookware, dishes, and utensils for preparing meals.
  • Private Hot Tub: An outdoor private hot tub is a prominent feature, perfect for relaxation on the deck while enjoying the mountain air.
  • Game Room/Loft Area: Many similar cabins, and likely Highland View, feature entertainment areas with amenities like a pool table, air hockey, and/or arcade games. One review specifically mentions a pool table for fun.
  • Spacious Living Areas: Comfortable living rooms with plush furniture, a large flat-screen TV, and often a fireplace (gas or electric) for a cozy ambiance.
  • Outdoor Decks/Balconies: Multiple levels often feature covered decks with rocking chairs and outdoor furniture, ideal for enjoying the views and fresh air.
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi: High-speed wireless internet access is generally available throughout the cabin, though consistency can vary in mountain areas.
  • Washer/Dryer: In-cabin laundry facilities provide convenience, especially for longer stays.
  • Heating and Air Conditioning: Central heating and air conditioning ensure comfort regardless of the season.
  • Linen and Towel Provision: Basic linens and towels are typically provided for guests.

However, it is crucial to address the significant concerns raised in recent customer reviews regarding the actual state of the cabin's cleanliness and maintenance. Reviews mention "thick layers of dust," "badly stained carpets and mattresses," "mold in the middle" of a sofa mattress, "broken utensils," a "disturbing amount of small cockroaches," and even finding "dirty underwear" after a requested cleaning. While management did attempt to address some initial issues, these indicate severe shortcomings in standard property care. Potential guests should be aware that the actual condition upon arrival may significantly differ from expectations based on typical amenities lists.

Features / Highlights

Highland View's ideal features revolve around its capacity for group accommodation and its typical cabin amenities, though recent reviews caution about the actual experience. Here’s what generally makes it attractive, alongside important considerations:

  • Generous Space for Groups: The cabin is designed to comfortably accommodate larger parties (6-12 guests), with multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, and living areas across various levels, making it suitable for family gatherings or friends' trips.
  • Private Hot Tub with Views: A major highlight is the private outdoor hot tub on the deck, offering a relaxing spot with potential "amazing views" of the Smokies.
  • In-Cabin Entertainment: The presence of a pool table and other potential game room features provides entertainment options directly within the cabin, which is a great asset for all ages, especially on rainy days.
  • Proximity to Pigeon Forge Attractions: Its location on Mountain Dreams Way provides convenient access to Dollywood, The Island, dinner shows, and other popular Pigeon Forge attractions, maximizing time for fun.
  • Mountain Ambiance: The log cabin aesthetic, with features like a fireplace and multiple decks, contributes to a genuine Smoky Mountain experience.

Despite these appealing features, the significant negative feedback from a recent guest is a major point of concern. Complaints about cleanliness ("disgusting," "roaches," "dirty underwear"), maintenance ("broken utensils," "springs left" in sleeper sofas), and the overall feeling of being "cared for very cheaply" are serious. While one review notes positive responsiveness from management in offering a refund and future discount for "minor troubles," the extent of the issues detailed in the other review suggests these might be more than "minor." Potential guests should be prepared for the possibility that the cabin's condition may not align with typical expectations for quality and cleanliness, despite its listed amenities.

Promotions or Special Offers

Highland View is an individual cabin property, likely managed by one or more vacation rental companies operating in the Pigeon Forge and Sevierville area (e.g., Vacasa, Eden Crest Vacation Rentals, various local agencies). Therefore, any promotions or special offers would originate from these specific management companies. To find current deals, it's best to check the websites of reputable Smoky Mountain cabin rental agencies that list "Highland View" or similar properties in the region. Common types of promotions you might find include:

  • Seasonal Discounts: Reduced rates during off-peak seasons (e.g., certain weeks in late fall, winter before holidays, early spring).
  • Multi-Night Stay Discounts: Booking for a longer duration (e.g., 3-night minimum, weekly stays) can often result in a discounted nightly rate.
  • Early Bird Specials: Planning your trip far in advance can sometimes secure lower prices.
  • Last-Minute Deals: For spontaneous trips, some companies offer discounts on cabins with last-minute availability.
  • Attraction Ticket Bundles: Some rental companies may offer complimentary or discounted tickets to popular local attractions (like Dollywood or dinner shows) as part of a booking package.

Given the recent negative feedback on the cabin's condition, it is highly recommended to prioritize booking options that offer flexible cancellation policies, even with a promotion. Always review the full terms and conditions of any offer directly with the rental agency before finalizing your reservation.

Contact Information

As Highland View is a specific cabin property and not a traditional hotel with a front desk, you would typically contact the property management company responsible for renting it out. The physical address of the cabin is:

Address: 1627 Mountain Dreams Way, Pigeon Forge, TN 37863, USA

Since no direct phone number for "Highland View" was provided, you would need to search for "Highland View cabin Pigeon Forge TN" online to find which rental agencies (such as Vacasa, Eden Crest, or others) manage this specific property. Once you locate its listing on a rental platform (like Booking.com, Hotels.com, Airbnb, or VRBO) or a specific property management website, their contact information for reservations and inquiries will be provided. The phone numbers for these managing companies are typically listed prominently on their respective websites. When contacting them, be sure to reference "Highland View" at the specified address and inquire about all amenities and current conditions.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For Tennessee residents, Highland View in Pigeon Forge presents a potentially convenient option for a group getaway or family staycation in the heart of the Smoky Mountains. The appeal of a spacious, private cabin with amenities like a hot tub and game room, designed to accommodate multiple guests, can be very attractive for local families planning reunions, friends' trips, or simply a larger group retreat without extensive travel. Its location offers the best of both worlds: a serene mountain setting combined with quick access to the vibrant attractions of Pigeon Forge, including Dollywood, outlet shopping, and dinner shows.

However, it is absolutely essential for locals considering Highland View to be fully aware of and carefully weigh the severe concerns raised in recent customer reviews. Reports of significant cleanliness issues, maintenance problems (like stained mattresses and broken utensils), and even pest sightings are critical factors. While one review mentions positive managerial responsiveness to issues, the extent of the initial problems cannot be overlooked. For locals seeking a comfortable and stress-free mountain escape, it would be prudent to inquire directly with the managing rental company about their current cleaning protocols and maintenance schedules for this specific cabin. While the promise of space and entertainment is there, ensuring a truly clean and well-maintained environment is paramount for a genuinely enjoyable stay in our beautiful Smoky Mountains. It may be a cheaper option, but as one reviewer noted, this might come with a compromise on care.

Overall cabin was decent. It accommodated 6 of us comfortably. Pool table was a lot of fun and hot tub was clean. We ran into some minor troubles that really made the first night awful, however the manager reached out to us and was more than willing to give us an extra 20% off our next stay and refund some money. That is what makes an awful experience worth it because everyone makes mistakes and not EVERYONE will own up to it. We would definitely try this cabin again.

This cabin experience was the worst ever. I have been visiting the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee for 12+ years and have stayed at many many resorts. This was by far the most gross, and poorly well kept cabin I have ever seen. Everything that the other reviewers have stated here is accurate. The water was slimy and smelly, (2 occupants had nausea and headaches) the carpet and general spaces throughout the cabin were filthy. The flat screens were like 14" screens, and barely hanging on the wall. The last and final straw was the roaches that appeared late that night. This property mgmt company should be ashamed of themselves by even putting there name on this rental. If the owners do not want to pay to fix things and make this cabin right then I suggest you no longer rent it. This was like staying at a Motel 6 in a cabin form. They ended up having to refund me over half my stay and give a 20% discount on next stay. Sadly I will never get to utilize this 20% off because I will avoid this property management resort at all costs. There is no way possible that there are reviews here for the water smelling like sulfur from 2yrs ago and this has not been corrected. Yea, will never stay again, and if I could give "0" Stars I absolutely would. Ruined Christmas, seriously.

This spot was amazing. I feel the advertised pictures matched the current condition and it really was beautiful. My only complaint were the beds. I think it was the support/frame of the bed itself because the mattresses looked ok but the beds (and we had a few to choose from) were terrible and the only reason I took away a star. The views were amazing! The drive up was a little nerve racking but the view was worth it!

View was nice. But house could have been cleaner. If u have bigger vehicle u can only fit one in the drive. I drove a crew cab one ton dually down and let me tell u the roads are very tight in the road getting to the cabin with it.
