We arrived ~30min before check in time. Check in was easy. There was a deposit required at check in. We were given a great location for our family (away from other guests since we had a baby) and near what we would need. When we needed anything, front desk was responsive and quick. Breakfast had several different options and the atmosphere was enjoyable. Check out was easy. I will be staying again when I’m in town.

This is an update after I posted a review to the Holiday Inn review site (not Google). Original review is AT THE BOTTOM, which was essentially a complaint about service during a 3-day stay in August. After that, the hotel general manager, Kelleigh Davis, reached out to me by phone & email (multiple times) and was VERY responsive. She had me call her cell phone. Our experience had been unusually bad; she took responsibility but was also supportive of her staff: explained it had to do in large part to a large and very rowdy group of guests who had essentially turned various aspects of the place upside down. This had really thrown off some of the front desk staff. (Staff may have actually assumed we were part of this large group; we weren't). Her explanation made sense as we had been kept up late and awoken by kids & their adults being super-loud (beyond tolerable) up and down nearby hallways after 11pm, after midnight etc. Our main gripe was with how staff had responded to our concerns/requests the next day about a simple item (towels). FEBRUARY, 2nd stay: We had a MUCH BETTER experience recently last month. The staff experience was great - friendly, knowledgeable and no issues. Hotel rooms/property overall is still noticeably "tired," but it's clear that renovations have begun. Manager explained that full reno is underway and should be completed this July (I am looking forward to seeing results!). She offered to cover a future stay, and said she was eager to get our impressions of the place after that. We are looking forward to it. Again I would commend her for tenacity in following up, because part of our email thread was either deleted by me or filtered out on my end. General: For location to Rt. 95 and to UD and Newark, it's convenient (5 min. drive) but it's not 'where the action is' for UD at all. You will pay a LOT more for that closer access to campus, Main St. etc., of course. That being said, from this hotel, you can easily walk north (?) to a great wine/liquor store 500 ft. away that has tastings, charcuterie stuff, etc. and a bit further to some takeout spots, Dunkin' Donuts etc. It's a good value if everything goes as it should. I will keep visiting especially now that I know the manager is responsive to any issues. ORIGINAL review I posted to hotel review system: "What do you think would make your next stay better?: SERVICE: on a 3 night stay, housekeeping never visited my room. After the first night, we left the do not disturb sign on, so that’s understandable. No one came after the second night (We assumed it would happen and that we did not have to ask). When we came back that evening and realized the room had not been made up & no clean towels, I called the front desk. The female rep was not apologetic, said housekeeping had gone home, and that we could come down and get clean towels (did not offer to bring them up). When my wife went down there, the male rep told her she could only get clean towels if she brought the dirty towels down to exchange (!). Yes, that’s actually what he said. Un-Freakin-Believable! I brought the dirty towels down; a female rep at the desk did not seem to be expecting me. When I explained what I needed, not rudely, but clearly not happy, she said only “Ok.” Again, no apology, not even eye contact. Briefly describe the problem(s) you encountered during your stay.: See previous comment. The male rep was the same one who checked us in on our first night; he was very pleasant then! He is the same one who told my wife we could not have clean towels unless we brought the dirty ones down (4 floors) to exchange for the clean ones. He had an apologetic tone, but never said “I’m sorry that this happened.” How the heck does it not occur to the staff that THEY should have offered to bring the towels up and exchange for the dirty ones at the door to the room? What hotel guest ever have to carry their own dirty laundry? I’ve never had such a bad experience with service/housekeeping. Also disappointed & surprised about no streaming ability through TV and no safe in room."

This is a great example of an all-around fantastic Hotel! The front desk staff were super friendly and engaging. Very welcoming. My room on the fourth floor was spotless. The bathroom was super clean. No unwanted pests when I looked underneath the corner of the bed. The bed was literally like sleeping on a cloud. By far the best bed that I've slept on in a Holiday Inn Express or any other hotel for that matter. The pillows were fantastic. What an incredible experience to try to get a few hours of sleep! I did not hear another guest during my entire stay.

Only stayed a night. It’s an older hotel but it’s clean. The crab house next store is good. Bee is pretty hard

They charge me to much for this dinky place the lobby look and smell better than the rooms. Wasn't satisfied at all. Won't ever come back here. The bathroom look gross they need new toilets and clean tubs better. The front desk ppl was very nice but this place need work done on it. They charging all this money and don't keep it up. No more Hoilliday Inns for me. I was too tired and sleepy to look for something else.
