Hey, the staff is really friendly, especially the kitchen crew. My stay at the hotel wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't come back since there are better options at a more affordable price. The room was fine, but I had an issue with the kitchen – the fridge was broken, and I reported it but never got it fixed. The room and the hotel were clean. Breakfast was always tasty with a good variety and fresh options. The rooms are a bit old, but they do the job.

While specific details about surrounding attractions or immediate neighborhood aesthetics are not provided, the context of an extended stay hotel usually points towards a quieter, more functional environment conducive to longer visits.
Homewood Suites properties are designed to offer a range of services that support extended stays. A consistent highlight from guest reviews is the staff, who are repeatedly described as "really friendly" and "extremely nice," with a specific mention of the "kitchen crew" for their positive demeanor. This indicates a strong positive impression regarding the hotel's personnel and their commitment to guest satisfaction. The breakfast service is consistently praised, described as "always tasty with a good variety and fresh options," and even "one of the best we've had in a hotel." This is a significant amenity for extended stay guests, offering convenience and cost savings. Housekeeping is also noted positively, with rooms and the hotel generally described as "clean." However, one guest did report an issue with a broken fridge in their room that was reported but never fixed, indicating a potential inconsistency in maintenance response, which is a crucial service for rooms equipped with kitchens. The hotel also features a pool, though feedback notes that the pool water and room air were "chilly," leading some to avoid swimming. This suggests a potential area for improvement in maintaining comfortable conditions for recreational facilities. An electric car charger is available, but a review indicated it was "not functioning," which is a service limitation for guests with electric vehicles. Despite these points, the overall sentiment regarding staff friendliness and breakfast quality remains high.
The core features of Homewood Suites by Hilton Newark-Wilmington South Area are tailored for extended stays, meaning guest rooms are typically suites with separate living and sleeping areas, and most importantly, fully equipped kitchens. While one review noted a broken fridge, the presence of a kitchen is a defining feature that allows guests to prepare their own meals, a significant advantage for longer visits. The rooms, while described by one guest as "a bit old," are also noted to "do the job," suggesting functionality over ultra-modern aesthetics. However, recent upgrades are evident, with repeat guests noting an "updated comfy couch" in their room and updated hallways, indicating ongoing efforts by the hotel to refresh its facilities. The complimentary hot breakfast is a standard and highly valued feature. Other common features for this brand would include complimentary Wi-Fi, a fitness center, and a business center, catering to both leisure and business travelers. The pool, despite its temperature issues, is also a feature providing a recreational option. The availability of an electric car charger, even if not fully functional at the time of one review, indicates a commitment to modern conveniences. The overall impression is of a hotel that is actively making improvements to its features while already offering the essential amenities for a comfortable extended stay.

The hotel's ongoing upgrades, including updated common areas and room furnishings, indicate a commitment to maintaining and improving the guest experience. While one guest mentioned that they "probably wouldn't come back since there are better options at a more affordable price," this individual also acknowledged the room was "fine" and the hotel clean, pointing to competitive market dynamics rather than a fundamental flaw in the hotel's offering. Conversely, repeat guests who had "some issues" in a previous year decided to "give it another shot" and were "very happy" with their upgraded experience, confirming that the hotel is addressing past concerns and enhancing its appeal. The location is consistently rated as "great." Therefore, the promotional messaging would likely emphasize the friendly staff, excellent breakfast, ongoing renovations, and the convenience of its extended-stay setup. While minor issues like a non-functioning fridge or chilly pool have been noted, the overall impression from recent reviews suggests a hotel that is attentive to guest satisfaction and actively improving its facilities, making it a strong contender for those seeking an extended stay in the Newark-Wilmington South Area.

Feb 20, 2025 · Ainhoa CalvoWe have stayed in this hotel every year for about 4 or 5 years. Last year we had some issues and debated on returning this year. We decided to give it another shot with the location being great. We were very happy with our stay! It's clear the hotel has been making upgrades. Breakfast was one of the best we've had in a hotel. Our room had an updated comfy couch, halls were definitely updated. One complaint was the pool was chilly and the air in the room as well was chilly, some of our party decided not to swim because of this. Also, there is a electric car charger outside, however not functioning so we couldn't charge our vehicle. All staff were extremely nice! Overall we were pleased and will be back next year!
Jan 05, 2025 · Nikki LaguesseClean and safe hotel with good breakfast and quiet workout room, but the check-in process was AWFUL! We booked through Hilton, so it *should* have been a piece of cake. Instead, we had to wait at the check-in counter for about half an hour while the guy at the front desk tried to find proof on his computer that we had already paid for the room. Even after I showed the payment notification on my phone, he still kept searching. Then, he took a ton of time trying to figure out how charge us an incidental hold, with us still standing there, tired late at night after driving 2 hours to get there. If he couldn’t have figured it out within 2 minutes, he should have just let us go to our room. We’re silver members and have never damaged a room; we told him this but he still held us at the counter. That wasn’t right. Really frustrated. This happened late at night on April 10th; please help this guy learn the systems and learn better Customer Service.
May 07, 2025 · Jackie CUnfortunately, like a lot of other reviews mentioned, this place is in serious need of fumigating and cleaning. I checked in and entered my room, and the room was kind of dingy and outdated (not necessarily a dealbreaker, but worth noting). I opened and closed the microwave door, and as soon as it closed three bugs crawled out of the sides. We changed rooms, but in the second room it was clearly not clean. Bathroom doorframe had flecks on it, other walls had stains, hair in the bathroom sink, kitchen utensils were dirty, etc. We changed rooms yet again, and the last room was still dirty (sofa stains, dirty floors, etc). We gave up on this place and got a refund and stayed elsewhere. That being said, the receptionist at the front desk was AMAZING and super accommodating.
Dec 24, 2024 · Heather HuntI found beg bugs during my stay. I wanted to leave immediately but the staff tried to get me to take another room. After checking out at 10:30pm and going to a new hotel this hotel sent automated text me to ask how my stay was going. No one from management bothered to reach out the next day or follow up. Stay anywhere else but here. It’s not worth the hassle and it’s not worth the risk.
