Employees entered my room without knocking while I just got out of the shower and was naked trying to get dressed. Room 410. They stood there with the door open apologizing while I was exposed to the elevators while I sat naked. I had to tell them to shut the door and leave because they just stood there looking at me. Wild. I called the front desk and they told me my room was vacant in their system. I had to remind them I checked in 6 hours ago. Only after almost arguing with this lady for minutes did she offer an a short "I'm sorry" I have never been treated with such indignity in my life ~ what a terrible and embarrassing experience. I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor as the front desk person was so rude and was told there was no manager or supervisor available at 8pm on a Friday night. Seems so wild.

For Texans, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio Medical-Six Flags by IHG presents itself as a practical and well-positioned option for various local needs. While it's important to acknowledge that some customer experiences can vary, as highlighted in certain reviews regarding service and specific incidents, the hotel's core offerings and location continue to make it a consideration for many.
Firstly, its strategic location directly on I-10 is a major asset. For San Antonians needing a convenient base during home renovations, or for those welcoming out-of-town family and friends, its proximity to the Medical Center and Six Flags Fiesta Texas is highly beneficial. This means less time in traffic and more time enjoying family visits, appointments, or the thrills of the theme park. The availability of free parking, including for larger vehicles, is also a practical advantage.

While the provided customer reviews detail some very concerning experiences regarding staff conduct and room access, it's crucial for potential guests to consider these points alongside the hotel's generally advertised features. It suggests that while the physical amenities and location are strong, the quality of service might require more direct engagement with management if issues arise. For Texans seeking a well-located, IHG-branded hotel with standard amenities for short or extended stays, particularly those focused on the Medical Center or Six Flags area, this Holiday Inn Express & Suites could still be a viable option, provided one sets realistic expectations and prioritizes clear communication with the hotel staff. It offers the familiar comforts and conveniences expected from the brand in a key San Antonio locale.

May 31, 2025 · Brice TadlockHUGE disappointment. If I could rate this hotel a zero I would. Let's start by saying that their check in time wasn't until 4pm. My wife and I stayed here and let me just say it will be our first and last time staying at a Holiday Inn. She checked in and they notified her that they would have to charge her for her service animal. They then told her that she would have to remain on the first floor because that's where they put any customer with a dog. When she proceeded to enter her room there was a dog that was not being handled appropriately that charged her service animal. One of the staff at the hotel witnessed this encounter and apologized. She said she would make a note about the incident. Next day (because we only stayed for one day, thank god) we went to check out, we notified the staff that we had been charged two days and there was an additional 250 dollar charge. Lisa was the one assisting us at check out. A gentleman at the counter next to Lisa decided to involve himself into the conversation and told my wife that she was charged 250 for the dog. They stated that our service animal had been barking all night. She then let him know he does not bark and for sure was not barking while we were sleeping. The staff told her that he was not a service animal since he was barking. They asked what he services? Then asked for his documentation. She let them know they are not legally allowed to ask for any of that. My wife works for a police department. She knows the laws when it comes to her service animal. The staff member, his name is paul, told my wife to call a lawyer. I asked for both of the employees names, they did not have name tags, and they gave me Paul and Lisa. I let them know that I needed a manager. Lisa stated she was the manager. I told her that I was told the day previously that there would be no manager on duty until Monday. She then retracted her statent by saying that is correct. She removed the extra night charge and said that anything other than the one night should fall off in a few business days. Let me just say that legally you are not allowed to ask for documentation for a service animal, you are not allowed to ask what the dog services, and in addition are not allowed to assign designated rooms to individuals with service animals. Paul was specifically unprofessional and after he was rude he went outside to discuss how he felt with another guest.
Apr 08, 2025 · ashley gWe were on a robotics trip originally staying in Corpus Christi but switched hotels to Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio Medical-Six Flags because San Antonio is closer for a Six Flags visit. Upon arrival, I submitted our tax-exempt form while dropping off bags. The front desk clerk immediately refused the tax exemption, saying we couldn’t use it because Six Flags is a leisure activity. I explained the trip was for robotics and suggested they simply acknowledge that. The clerk said she’d ask the manager but insisted it wasn’t their policy and told us to check back in the evening. After returning from Six Flags, we were again told the tax exemption would not be applied. One of the trip sponsors, who is a principal, also spoke with the front desk. Later, the front desk staff stopped us to say the manager would make an exception and apply the exemption—emphasizing this was against their usual policy, which they also apply to military guests. I have since researched the tax laws, and the hotel does not have the right to deny tax exemption based on leisure activities. The school is exempt from taxes period. This inconsistent, unprofessional handling caused unnecessary stress. Hotels should honor tax exemption laws without hassle or discrimination. I advise others to be prepared for resistance here if using tax-exempt status.

Jun 21, 2025 · Pablo RamosThis place sucks. My first warning sign was pulling up at night and half of one of the exterior lights was burned out. Not a good sign. Second warning sign. As I'm coming in to check in, several guests are complaining to the front desk that the drains were either not draining or draining very slow. Speaks volumes to maintenance not being done on the building. Third warning sign. The room shows very apparent ware and poor jobs at patching what was apparent water damage. The cabinet in the bathroom has many chips in the paint. Apparently repainting it is too much to ask from this hotel. The A/C unit when on rattles like an old jalopy for upwards of 30 minutes at a time. If you're a light sleeper, good luck. Now to some of my grievances. 1.) While the front desk associate was friendly, he neglected to note the location of the fitness center and that it has restricted hours. While the IHG app says the fitness center is open 12am-11:59pm, all the cardio machines cut off at 8:58. Not a gradual shut down, power killed hope you don't hurt yourself. There is no sign on the fitness center mentioning hours of operation. 1a.) Turns out the treadmill is in poor condition. The belt is misaligned which is causing the treadmill to shut down mid operation. For weights the hotel is missing several dumbbells. 2.) There is no A/C being pumped into the fitness center, nor is there any A/C control in the room. 3.) As previous reviews have expressed, the employee, Paul is a rude and unpleasant man. But given the poor state of the hotel he may be indicative of a wider issue with this particular location. 4.) The card readers on the alternative entrances to the building don't work and they likely will wipe your key. 5.) There are multiple reports of people breaking into vehicles here. Perhaps this hotel should invest in a security guard or more lighting for the parking lot. All in all, this place sucks. I was giving Holiday Inn a chance within IHG to save my company money, but for an extra $10-30 a night more you can stay at a Staybridge hotel which has never done me wrong in quality. With everything going wrong, dropping this review to a 1 star, wish I could give them zero.
