Absolutely disgusting. Avoid Rodeway Inn & Suites Fiesta Park at all costs. This place should not be open for business — period. I booked a room here through Priceline, and the moment I walked in, I was hit with an overwhelming toxic smell. The room reeked like a mix of chemicals, mildew, and something rotting. But that wasn’t even the worst part. There were cockroaches crawling around the room. On the floor. On the walls. Like they lived there — which I’m guessing they do. I recorded video evidence immediately and went straight to the front desk. The manager saw the video, apologized, and promised a refund — but told me I had to cancel through Priceline first, and then he’d approve it. That was a complete lie. Over a month later, Priceline has contacted them over and over, and they still refuse to respond or approve the cancellation. So now I’m stuck fighting for a refund for a filthy, unsafe room I didn’t even stay in. Here’s what you need to know about this motel: • The rooms are dirty and smell horrible. • There’s a roach problem. • Management is dishonest and unprofessional. • They will say anything to get rid of you — then ignore refund requests. I’ve stayed in budget motels before. I know what “cheap” looks like. But this? This was unlivable, and they knew it. If you care at all about cleanliness, safety, or basic human decency, do not stay at Rodeway Inn & Suites Fiesta Park. You’re better off sleeping in your car.

The property typically provides basic amenities such as free Wi-Fi and a complimentary continental breakfast, which are appealing features for guests looking to stretch their travel budget. Its location is a key selling point, providing relatively easy access to some of San Antonio's major attractions and business centers.
However, it's important for prospective guests to approach this option with a clear understanding of its current condition, as reflected in various public reviews. While some guests have found the staff to be accommodating and appreciate the affordable rates, significant and recurring concerns have been raised regarding the overall cleanliness, maintenance, and condition of the rooms. Issues such as unpleasant odors, pest problems, and general disrepair have been cited by multiple past visitors. This suggests that while the hotel attempts to provide fundamental services, the execution and upkeep may be inconsistent. For local Texans considering a stay, it's crucial to weigh the attractive price point against these potential challenges, ensuring it aligns with their expectations for comfort and safety. It remains an option for those prioritizing extreme budget-friendliness and who are prepared for a no-frills experience, but a thorough assessment of recent guest feedback is highly recommended.

This address places the hotel in the Northwest area of San Antonio, a sector known for its proximity to several major attractions and key business hubs, offering a degree of accessibility for various travelers.
One of the hotel's primary location benefits is its name's implication: being "South of Fiesta Park." It is indeed situated relatively close to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, a major amusement park. Guests looking to visit this popular attraction will find the drive to be manageable, typically around 4 to 5 miles, or approximately 9 minutes, offering a convenient base for park visitors. The hotel also boasts proximity to the USAA Corporate Office Headquarters, which is roughly 1 to 2 miles away, making it a potentially convenient choice for business travelers with engagements at this large employer.
Beyond these immediate points of interest, the hotel's location offers access to other significant areas of San Antonio. The Shops at La Cantera and The Rim Shopping Center, both upscale retail and dining destinations, are within a few miles, providing ample options for entertainment and necessities. For those traveling by air, San Antonio International Airport (SAT) is approximately 11-12 miles away, making for a reasonable commute. While not directly in the bustling downtown area, access to major roads and highways from this location facilitates travel to central San Antonio, including the historic River Walk and the Alamo, which are typically a 20-30 minute drive depending on traffic.
The presence of nearby businesses like Sam's Club and various restaurants (such as Cracker Barrel, Subway, Saltgrass Steakhouse, Logans Roadhouse, and Romano's Macaroni Grill) also adds to the practical convenience of the location for guests needing quick access to amenities and dining options. The area around Laureate Drive is generally characterized by commercial and light industrial properties, and its positioning allows for relatively easy navigation by car with free self-parking available on-site.

For Texans, particularly those on a tight budget, the Rodeway Inn & Suites South of Fiesta Park can be a consideration, though it comes with important caveats. Its primary suitability for locals lies in its very affordable price point and its strategic location relative to specific San Antonio attractions and necessities.
For a Texas family planning a very economical trip to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, for example, the hotel's proximity to the park means less travel time and potentially significant savings on lodging. The inclusion of free continental breakfast and in-room kitchenettes can further help manage expenses, allowing families to save more for park tickets and other experiences. Similarly, for those needing a very basic, no-frills place to stay near the USAA campus for a short business trip or specific appointment, the location is convenient.
However, it is crucial for local Texans to manage their expectations and consider the consistent and severe negative feedback regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and pest issues. While the price might be appealing, the reviews suggest that the conditions may be significantly below standard, even for a budget motel. For locals who prioritize safety, basic hygiene, and a comfortable night's sleep, even for a brief stay, it might be advisable to explore other budget options in the area that have more consistent positive feedback. If the decision is made to stay here, calling ahead to confirm the condition of specific rooms and understanding the refund policy (especially when booking through third parties) is highly recommended. Ultimately, its suitability for Texans depends entirely on one's tolerance for very basic accommodations and willingness to overlook potential significant drawbacks in exchange for extreme affordability and a good location relative to specific attractions.

Apr 11, 2025 · Jiheng LuHotel room door defective and would not lock upon closing on outside. Hotel room door was also rotting and flexible that it could be pushed in 3 inches with someone applying pressure to bottom door corner with foot. Smoke alarm was missing from ceiling. The large burner on stove didn’t work. There were nasty stains all over kitchen chair. The rolling desk chair was all tattered and sticky. TV didn’t work properly with random digital screen shakes and horizontal bars that continuously scrolled from bottom to top. TV remote was missing the backing and didn’t work at all with off brand Chinese batteries. Coat hanger bars were once ripped from wall and put back in place with about ten heavy-duty zip ties. The smell of the room was like wet, rotten cigarette butts. Mattress was so old and cheap, it flatted out completely when sitting and laying down. Felt springs digging in my body causing pain. Pillows were half the size of normal pillows and paper thin. I ended up going out to Walmart to buy a pillow I could rest my head on. No hot water in shower and sink. A/C unit worked properly but held together by 8+ strips of red duct tape. But none of those were the worst thing. That worst thing goes to the roaches that were crawling all over the bathroom and kitchen and my belongings. This hotel experience was the worst I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve stayed all over this country in all types of budget hotels. I had to check out immediately when I awoke to a multitude of roaches scattering when I turned the lights on at 5:30am the first morning and was given a refund. DO NOT EVER STAY HERE!!! I also feared for my safety staying here based on the clientele already staying and/or hanging around there. Dangerous… STAY AWAY!!! I would like the hotel brand’s corporate headquarters to step in here and either force the closure of this location or do some serious financial investments to the property to make improvements.
Apr 28, 2025 · spicy baldeagleWorst customer service on my year long trip across the USA. Staff took zero accountability for broken TV & 3 non functioning lights in my room. When I pointed out my rate of $60 was too much for what I received I was told to stay at a 5-star hotel & to go back to my country. So many other options were available, instead hostility & complete lack of accountability was their answer. Had it been a $30 room I would understand. I was complaining about being charged $60 for a $30 room. Don’t be fooled by their photos. Inspect your room first.
May 07, 2025 · mimiallinTERRIBLE!!! When we first got here we got checked in and the room was horrid! The couch had tears and stains, the lamp had wires hanging out which could have been very dangerous to my one year old daughter! The bath was disgusting and filthy! And the beds.. oh gosh. The beds had stains everywhere! We then asked for a different room so we switched and it wasn’t any better. Roaches everywhere! Even in the ac (which didn’t work in the new room) Both room doors also looked like they had been kicked in because they didn’t even shut all the way towards the bottom. Lamps also didn’t work in the new room. Overall the place is a dump and needs to be shut down. When we went to ask for a refund they told us they would have to charge us for a night which is ridiculous! The front desk lady then went up to the room and told my brother that he needs to “get the stuff and get out!” WHILE we were still dealing with her coworker at the front desk. They were clearly upset but if they were in our shoes they wouldn’t want to stay in that nasty place either! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
Feb 13, 2025 · Nayeli ValleThe place was a dump!!! There were roaches in the room. There was mold in the tub and toilet. Did not even bring bags in. Called Priceline for a refund. Went to the front desk and told the guy that I'm not staying there. It looked like a 3rd world country. The place needs to be torn down with having roaches, mold and who knows else what.
