We stayed one night at this location prior to our morning departure for Cape Liberty NJ. This is a perfect location, only 60 to the cruiser ship terminal. Quiet and way to get to. We arrived Wednesday night which had a complimentary “social meet” in the lobby lounge with complimentary beer, wine, salad bar, soup, fruit, juice, and even nachos. This event is Wednesday nights only. It was a great time. Rooms were clean, environment was clean, well groomed grounds with LOTS of room space. There were five people in our party. There was one king size bed, and two queens plus a pullout couch, a full kitchen, including microwave, refrigerator and freezer two separate three-piece bathrooms and three televisions. It was a perfect set up.
For travelers seeking an extended stay or a comfortable, spacious accommodation in Dover, New Jersey, a search for "Hotels Near Me" might lead to the Homewood Suites by Hilton Dover - Rockaway. Located at 2 Commerce Center Dr, Dover, NJ 07801, USA, this hotel is designed to cater to guests needing more than a standard hotel room, offering apartment-style amenities. For direct inquiries or reservations, guests can contact them at (973) 989-8899 or +1 973-989-8899.
The environment at Homewood Suites by Hilton Dover - Rockaway elicits quite contrasting opinions from guests. On one hand, some reviews praise the property's cleanliness, describing the "rooms were clean, environment was clean, well groomed grounds." They highlight the "quiet and easy to get to" location, suggesting a peaceful and convenient setting. However, other recent feedback raises significant concerns regarding cleanliness and upkeep, presenting a starkly different picture. One guest reported that a "king suite... did not appear clean," citing an un-degunked and unsanitized kitchen area, dusty surfaces, and "hairs in the bed," making the cleanliness of the sheets questionable. This reviewer also noted that the furniture appeared "very worn, chipped, unclean, and outdated throughout the hotel and suite." The prevalence of carpeting in the suites was also mentioned as a potential issue for guests with allergies, compounded by reports of the room being "freezing cold no matter how high the heat was cranked" due to "drafty windows." These discrepancies suggest that while some guests may have a positive experience with cleanliness and comfort, others encounter significant issues that detract from their stay. The overall impression of the environment, therefore, varies considerably depending on individual experiences and specific room assignments. The hotel typically features a modern lobby area and grounds that aim to be appealing, but the internal condition of guest suites seems to be a point of inconsistency.
The services at Homewood Suites by Hilton Dover - Rockaway also receive mixed reviews, though the positive aspects are notable. On the favorable side, staff members generally receive commendation for being "friendly" and helpful during interactions. A highly appreciated service is the complimentary "social meet" event, particularly highlighted for Wednesday nights, which includes "complimentary beer, wine, salad bar, soup, fruit, juice, and even nachos." This "social" offering is a significant value-add and a unique service feature for an extended-stay hotel, fostering a sense of community and providing a convenient evening meal option. The hotel also provides a complimentary breakfast, which some guests found to have "decent/healthy breakfast options" including a variety of nuts, guacamole, yogurt, and eggs. However, despite these positives, the effectiveness of problem resolution regarding cleanliness issues is not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, which could be a point of concern for guests encountering issues. Standard services like daily housekeeping (though often on a limited schedule for extended stays), front desk assistance, and possibly a fitness center are generally expected from a Hilton brand, but the core feedback focuses on the complimentary food and staff friendliness.
A primary feature of Homewood Suites by Hilton Dover - Rockaway is its suite-style accommodations, designed for longer stays and offering more space and amenities than a traditional hotel room. A reported setup included "one king size bed, and two queens plus a pullout couch, a full kitchen, including microwave, refrigerator and freezer two separate three-piece bathrooms and three televisions." This configuration is ideal for larger parties or families, providing ample living and sleeping areas, and the convenience of a full kitchen for self-catering. The presence of multiple televisions and bathrooms further enhances comfort for groups. However, the condition of these features varies in guest perception, with some reporting "worn, chipped, unclean, and outdated" furniture, which contradicts the expectation of a well-maintained Hilton property. The hotel also offers complimentary Wi-Fi and parking, which are essential features for extended-stay guests. A fitness center and an indoor pool are standard amenities typically offered by Homewood Suites properties, although their specific condition was not detailed in the provided reviews. The hotel's location is identified as "perfect" for those departing from Cape Liberty NJ, being only 60 miles away, indicating its utility as a convenient pre-cruise stop. Other potential features include a business center and laundry facilities, which are common for extended-stay hotels to support guests during longer visits.
In terms of promotional information, Homewood Suites by Hilton Dover - Rockaway, as part of the Hilton brand, generally leverages its reputation for quality and consistent service. The complimentary breakfast and particularly the "social meet" events (like the Wednesday night gathering) are significant promotional draws, offering substantial value to guests. The all-suite setup with full kitchens is a key selling point for families, groups, or business travelers on extended assignments, as it provides cost savings on dining and increased comfort. The hotel likely participates in the Hilton Honors loyalty program, allowing guests to earn and redeem points, which is a strong incentive for repeat business. While one guest expressed that the "suites are not worth the price for this experience" due to cleanliness and condition issues, others find the setup "perfect" and the complimentary offerings to be of great value. The pricing strategy would likely reflect its extended-stay focus, potentially offering better rates for longer bookings. For those searching for "Hotels Near Me" in the Dover area, particularly if seeking a spacious suite with kitchen facilities and value-added services like complimentary evening socials, this Homewood Suites could be considered, but potential guests should be aware of the conflicting reviews regarding cleanliness and the condition of furnishings, perhaps prompting direct inquiry about specific room conditions.

May 15, 2025 · Brian JonesI would not recommend this location. My main issue is the king suite we stayed in did not appear clean. At first glance, it’s apparent the kitchen area in the suite had not been degunked or sanitized. All tops of surfaces in the suite were dusty. My allergies were triggered immediately upon entering the suite. The space is almost entirely carpeted, so I would definitely not recommend if you have allergies. After reading a few other reviews of guests finding bedbugs, fleas, and hair in their beds, I was a bit alarmed and inspected ours - It is questionable if the sheets were washed, as there were hairs in the bed. Not to mention the general lack of design and coziness, and the furniture appearing very worn, chipped, unclean, and outdated throughout the hotel and suite. I have attached photos. The room was also freezing cold no matter how high the heat was cranked. Drafty windows. On a positive note, staff I interacted with were friendly and there were some decent/healthy breakfast options (a variety of nuts, guacamole, yogurt, and the eggs were okay). I just don’t feel the suites are worth the price for this experience.
Feb 23, 2025 · Michaela RoseIt's a convenient location for my needs, but lots of things don't work and not up to Hilton/Homewood brand. Wifi wouldn't connect. Hot water is supposed to be available 24/7 but my last three stays it was barely lukewarm. Hotplate burners don't work. Toilet is sluggish. It used feel like home. It doesn't anymore.
Mar 01, 2025 · Marilyn CahillI’ve been traveling at the rate of approximately twice a month for the past 6 years and this must be among the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The room smells like a nursing home. It is extremely dark and dingy, and I’m afraid to touch anything. The furniture is banged up and just plain dirty. The carpet reeks, and I’m afraid to do what can be done to the stained mattress to check for bedbugs, The walls are paper, thin. I’m surrounded by heavy snoring so loud that it makes the room shake. When I walked in to check in, I was greeted with “hey” said by someone who was seemingly being inconvenienced. Didn’t even crack a smile. The same person was very quick to say that the hotel is completely booked, but it is very clear that it is not. What could possibly be going on around here in the middle of nowhere? A tech convention? I think not. Just too much of an inconvenience should I ask for a room in which I feel better in. Maybe she just didn’t like me. Hospitality is a thing you know? There are plenty of other hotels around. I should’ve stayed at one of them. If you actually don’t mind staying at this hotel, it’s probably because your standards are different. Confirmed that I was placed into a room with prior pets with fleas — explains my flea bites and why the front desk attempted to avoid room change request by saying at check in that the hotel is booked—Beware, y’all. As an educated and responsible citizen, I reported the flea infestation of this particular room to Dover county.
Oct 15, 2024 · Shari SharifI recently stayed at this hotel and had a disappointing experience with the shower in my room. It was impossible to adjust the water temperature to a comfortable level. The water was either scalding hot or freezing cold, with no in-between option. This made taking a shower quite uncomfortable.
