When searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Allentown, Pennsylvania, it's crucial to understand that Hotel Traylor LLC, located at 1444 Hamilton St, Allentown, PA 18102, USA, operates under a unique model that deviates significantly from a traditional hotel. While its name might suggest a conventional hotel, the property primarily functions as a residential building offering long-term rentals, including rooms, efficiencies, and apartments. This distinction is critical for local users and visitors alike, as expectations for services and amenities will differ from a standard short-term lodging establishment. You can contact them at (610) 434-1190 or +1 610-434-1190.
Historically, the building known as Hotel Traylor has a rich past, built in 1917 by Samuel Traylor. It was once a prominent hotel with luxurious features, expanding in 1929 to include apartments alongside its hotel rooms. Over the decades, its function evolved, and by 1977, the hotel desk was closed, effectively ending its use as a traditional hotel. Since then, it has transitioned into a combination office building and apartment complex, as of 1979. This historical context explains why its current operations are more akin to an apartment building with varied living spaces rather than a typical hotel.
The environment at Hotel Traylor LLC presents a mixed picture, based on customer feedback. One review describes a concerning environment, mentioning "roaches and rats in the summer," persistent drug activity that owners are allegedly aware of, and general disrepair such as "roof leaks." This suggests a challenging living environment that may not be well-maintained. The review also implies issues with bullying by management and a lack of concern for tenant welfare. On the other hand, another review, from someone looking for a long-term room, describes a positive initial experience, noting that "Taylor in the office" was "very nice" and that they secured "the LAST available room." This room was described as "large" with a "full-size bed and my own bathroom," and the individual was "fortunate" to see a "beautiful sunrise," indicating some positive aspects of the living spaces.
Given its primary function as a long-term residential facility, the "services" offered at Hotel Traylor LLC are not those of a conventional hotel. There is no daily housekeeping, no complimentary continental breakfast, no ice machines, and no on-site restaurant as one would expect from a true hotel. One review explicitly states that "there is only an insurance company inside" the building, further emphasizing its non-hotel nature. Access to hot water is reportedly inconsistent, and elevator breakdowns are a recurring issue. The concept of a "front desk" seems to be fluid, with a complaint that the "owners girlfriend never is at the front desk." Instead, services are limited to what might be expected from a landlord or property management for a residential building. These include off-street parking, on-site laundry machines on every level, two elevators (though reportedly unreliable), handicap accessible entry (lower level), and a security entry door lock system. There is also easy access to LANTA bus stops directly from the building.
The "features" of the units at Hotel Traylor LLC vary, including "rooms, efficiencies, and apartments." A "room" is described as including a full-size bed, private bath, heat, electricity, and basic cable. "Efficiency" and "apartment" units would typically offer more extensive living spaces, potentially including kitchenettes or full kitchens. While amenities like refrigerators, beds, microwaves, and "light furniture" are mentioned, the overall quality and condition of carpets and furniture are not explicitly detailed, but implied by the negative review to be subpar. The significant distinction here is that these are designed for long-term stays (weekly or monthly rentals), rather than nightly accommodations. If a stay exceeds 30 days, tenants are considered permanent residents under Lehigh County laws, impacting their rights and responsibilities.
For those seeking a "Hotels Near Of Me" alternative that is more aligned with long-term living and affordability, Hotel Traylor LLC markets itself with weekly and monthly rental rates. Single occupancy rates are advertised at approximately $220 per week or $800 per month, while double occupancy rates are around $260 per week or $900 per month. A $200 security deposit is required. All utilities, including heat, air conditioning, and basic cable, are included in the rent.
The location of Hotel Traylor LLC at 1444 Hamilton St places it in downtown Allentown, offering walking distance access to various city amenities. It is conveniently located near LANTA bus stops and provides on-site parking. Its proximity to downtown Allentown means potential access to the PPL Center, local businesses, and government offices. However, the negative review suggests that despite its central location, the surrounding environment may also be affected by issues like drug activity, which could impact the sense of safety and community.
"Promotional information" for Hotel Traylor LLC is geared towards its long-term residential offerings rather than typical hotel deals. Key promotional points include:
However, based on the stark contrast in customer reviews, potential tenants or guests considering Hotel Traylor LLC for an extended stay should exercise extreme caution. It is highly advisable to visit the property in person, inspect the specific room/unit, and speak with current residents to get a comprehensive understanding of the living conditions and management practices before committing to a stay. The discrepancies between the advertised intent and the reported realities of cleanliness, safety, and basic services are significant and should be thoroughly investigated. This property serves as a reminder that within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, not all listings offer the same type or quality of accommodation, and some are indeed primarily residential facilities rather than traditional hotels.

Mar 30, 2025 路 nunyas BidnessI stopped in Friday looking for a room to move into long--term. I met with Taylor in the office. She was very nice and told me everything I needed to know about this place. I was fortunate to get the LAST available room. When she showed me my room, there was someone working in it to prepare it for occupancy. My room is large and it has a full-size bed and my own bathroom. I was able to move in later that day. My windows face east, and the next morning I was able to see a beautiful sunrise. I believe I will be very happy living here 馃槉
Mar 17, 2024 路 Donna BaringerI lived here for well over a year. Everyone in this building was always so good to me. It always felt like home. I truly loved loving here and I still miss it sometimes. For the money you absolutely will never find anything this good.
Feb 06, 2024 路 Krista MarieI have lived here for five plus years. So I know what I'm saying. The staff is excellent. They are very intelligent, competent people. However, a place is only as good as the people that live here and there are many friendly people who live here. This is the city, so there may be roaches on occasion. They do exterminate. It helps when everyone's floor is at least crumb free. If you don't have a car the lanta buses have stops at all four corners. You can get around pretty easy This is a great place to live. They are fair and decent. I hope to be here for a long time.
Oct 02, 2023 路 Carol PalkowShould be renamed hotel trailer. This place is a broken down mess. The only reason I know is because you have to go into the first floor to get to the Allentown Municipal Court on the first floor. Which leads me to ask, who decided to put a municipal Court on the first floor of this apartment building? Just looking up at the windows from the first floor you can tell this place is run down and unkept.
