I had to live here for a few months when I moved from New Jersey. Management was very nice and respectful. The other tenants in the building were nice and stayed to themselves. It’s not the cleanest place I must admit (and maybe they can work on that) but to survive it did the job. I think this place is ideal for singles but not families (mainly because bathrooms are shared) but to each is own.

Sterling Hotel Introduce

For those utilizing platforms like "Hotels Near Of Me" in search of accommodation within Allentown, Pennsylvania, the Sterling Hotel, located at 343 Hamilton St, Allentown, PA 18101, USA, presents a unique and historically significant option. While the term "hotel" is part of its name and history, current information, including customer reviews, suggests it operates in a manner that blends traditional lodging with a more residential or long-term stay approach, particularly with shared facilities. This introduction will provide an objective overview, detailing its environment, services, features, and any relevant promotional information, drawing from both historical records and recent customer feedback.

The Sterling Hotel is not merely a place to stay; it is an important piece of Allentown's history. Built between 1889 and 1890, it is a three-story rectangular brick building designed in the Romanesque Revival style, with touches of Queen Anne and Eastlake influences. Its historical significance led to its inclusion on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Situated directly across from what were once the Central Railroad of New Jersey and Lehigh Valley Railroad stations, the hotel's original purpose was to provide convenient accommodation and dining for travelers arriving by train. This historical context highlights its central location in Allentown's past as a hub for commerce and travel.

The environment of the Sterling Hotel is intrinsically tied to its downtown Allentown location on Hamilton Street. Hamilton Street is a central artery of the city, placing the hotel within easy reach of various urban amenities. While the immediate area may experience the typical vibrancy and activity of a city center, the historical nature of the building also suggests a certain gravitas. The hotel's long history means it has witnessed the evolution of downtown Allentown, from a bustling railroad hub to its current form. However, contemporary usage might vary, with public records and reviews hinting at a hybrid function that includes residential units and possibly commercial spaces, such as a nightclub ("Deja Vu nightclub" has been mentioned as a venue within the building). This means the environment might offer a mix of historical charm and modern urban challenges, such as potential noise from street activity or evening entertainment.

Regarding services, the Sterling Hotel appears to operate differently from a conventional modern hotel chain. Customer reviews indicate that it may cater to long-term residents or individuals seeking more affordable, extended stays. One reviewer mentioned living there for a few months, highlighting the role of management in a more residential context. The mention of "bathrooms are shared" is a significant detail, suggesting that not all rooms have private en-suite facilities, which is a departure from standard hotel offerings. This shared amenity model is more common in boarding houses, hostels, or residential hotels. Management has been described as "very nice and respectful," suggesting a focus on tenant relations. While basic utilities would be provided, the extensive range of services like daily housekeeping, concierge services, or on-site dining (beyond potential commercial tenants like a nightclub) might not be available in the same way as a full-service hotel. Potential guests should clarify specific service offerings by contacting the hotel directly at (610) 433-3480 or +1 610-433-3480.

The features of the Sterling Hotel are primarily its historical architecture and its adaptation over time. As a building with 33 sleeping rooms when nominated for the National Register, it once served a traditional hotel function. Today, its features are geared towards providing basic accommodation. The "beautiful building" as noted by a reviewer confirms its architectural merit. The presence of a nightclub within the building, Deja Vu, means it functions not only as a place of lodging but also as an entertainment venue. This feature could be a draw for some, offering live music and nightlife, but could also be a source of noise for others. Given the residential aspects mentioned, features like communal living spaces, shared kitchen facilities, or laundry services might be present, aligning with a long-term stay model, though specific details are not widely advertised. The age of the building suggests that while it possesses historical charm, certain modern amenities and levels of comfort might differ from newly constructed or recently renovated hotels. The internal condition, as per a review, might not always be the "cleanest," suggesting that maintenance and cleanliness levels could be areas of concern for some guests. However, the reviewer also stated it "did the job to survive," indicating functionality for basic needs.

Promotional information for the Sterling Hotel appears to focus on its identity as a venue for events, particularly through the Deja Vu nightclub. Mentions of "live bands and one of the longest bars in the country" highlight its entertainment offerings. While it's listed as a "hotel," direct promotional information targeting typical hotel guests (e.g., specific room types, breakfast inclusions, or leisure facilities) is less prevalent in public search results compared to its role as an event space. For those searching on "Hotels Near Of Me," the primary promotional aspect would be its downtown location and its historical status. Any specific deals for lodging might be communicated directly upon inquiry or through its limited online presence. It is important for prospective guests to understand that the Sterling Hotel might not operate as a conventional transient hotel but more as a residential-style accommodation with an attached entertainment venue. Therefore, expectations regarding typical hotel promotions like holiday packages or loyalty programs might not apply in the same way they would for a branded hotel chain.

In conclusion, the Sterling Hotel at 343 Hamilton St, Allentown, PA 18101, USA, is a building steeped in local history, having served as a prominent hotel in the late 19th century. Today, while retaining its name, it appears to function as a blend of residential accommodation, potentially offering long-term stays, and a popular entertainment venue. Its environment is that of a historic downtown building in an active urban setting. Services may include basic lodging with shared facilities, appealing to singles or those seeking more economical, extended stays. Its key features include its historical architecture and the presence of a lively nightclub. For those searching on "Hotels Near Of Me," it is crucial to recognize that the Sterling Hotel's offerings deviate from a typical commercial hotel, with a strong emphasis on its historical significance and its current, more residential or entertainment-focused operational model, requiring direct inquiry for specific lodging details and to manage expectations regarding amenities and services.

I paid for a month at the sterling hotel, within 24 hours my room was broken into and robbed, they did nothing. I left for two days just to get away from there, when I came back, management went into my room, stole everything, and rented my already paid for room, to someone else. The worst part, they are making it seem like it's my fault. Even threatened to call the police. On ME. Worst , most corrupt, shady people I've ever come across
